LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Dolly Parton's breasts may be two of the wonders of the entertainment world, but the country music icon says they are a pain in her back.

Parton, 62, said on Monday she would postpone her upcoming North American tour after doctors told her to take it easy for six to eight weeks to rest her sore back.

"Hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems," the folksy singer-songwriter said in a statement.

The tour was due to begin on February 28 in Minneapolis, two days after the release of "Backwoods Barbie," her first album of mainstream country music in 17 years. She hopes to hit the road in late April.

Parton, also famous for her big voice, big wigs and big smile, has long joked about her famous bust. When she received a songwriters award in New York last year, she noted that she's been known for two things throughout her career.

"I'm talking about my music and my lyrics," she said.

Parton, a member of both the country music and songwriters halls of fame, has been enjoying a renaissance since she released the first of a trio of bluegrass-tinged albums in 1999.

As with other veterans such as Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard, Parton found that she was no longer welcome at country radio, and changed tack by delving into roots music. Her releases garnered widespread critical acclaim and a fond examination of her 40-year career.

I wonder though because Dolly did lose a lot of weight and women with large boobs tend to not lose weight in the breast area, but they tend to sag after weight loss. She may have had them lifted. If they lift them too much, you can get that look on top that gives them that fake look.

Those things are bigger than HER HEAD AND THAT MAN'S HEAD NEXT TO HER. :eek: OMG, with all her money, she should take care of her health better. Unless she has some physical problem that causes her to be overweight. I can only think of a few times in her career when she was not huge. :eek:

I agree. I know thyroid problems can cause a lot of weight gain, as well as some other physical problems. It is not like she has always been heavy, she has had her thin moments, so I surmise there is something that can be done. It's not like she doesn't have the money. Gastric may be the way to go for her, just like Etta James did.

I heard that Aretha has started a strict diet/exercise regime. She looked bigger than ever on the Grammys last night, I guess we'll see in six months or so.

I can't seem to find anything that states Aretha is doing anything regarding her weight. I did find that she was hopitalized in 2004 for an undisclosed problem.

Dolly has gotten too skinny in recent years, plus all the plastic surgery she's had. I saw some pics of her a year or two back where she was Karen Carpenter skinny, she looks a bit better now.

I liked Dolly's 1980 circa 9 To 5 figure better than the figure she has now. It is like party at Barbie land 24/7, bring your whips, dips, and chips while you are at it. Yes, that's possible. Someone once told me she was a (I think) 42KKK before she had her boobs reduced.

Ohoo. I know a LOT on this subject. :lol: But there's a reason for that. I'm gonna confess my size here, but to just talk about it for a bit. I wear a 34G right now -- yes, I'm WAY over a DDD-cup, and they're natural -- with the possibilitiy of having to buy H-cup bras in the near future. You guys have ZERO IDEA of how hard it is for an average-weight female to find a bra in stores in her size above a D-cup. It's not gonna happen, PERIOD. Retailers don't seem to believe in skinny people being larger than that, and for the plus-size people, they don't seem to believe in anything larger than a DDD cup (40DDD, 42DDD, etc).

I may be freakishly endowed, altho I don't feel that way when I look at my chest in a mirror, but mine don't hold a candle to Dolly's. :eek: I have ZERO doubt that the bras she wears are larger than a JJ-cup. It blows my mind that someone like her would WANT to have fake boobs THAT big. Most ladies you hear about only want them enhanced to about a D cup, and I'm sure most docs advise women not to go any larger than DDD if they want fake boobs, because of the possibility of back issues in the future. I have no doubt that Dolly has bras custom-made for her, because it gets even more hard to find bras in her size, even online.

I'd like to see Dolly consider getting them reduced a LITTLE BIT, like maybe two cups. She can still have smaller (big) boobs but be considered iconic because of them (not just because of her music, heh). I'm sure that's not the first time she's had back issues because of that, and it certainly won't be the last time. She's got the time as per doc's orders and the money, so why not?

Having breasts lifted doesn't mean they have had any implants inserted. The doctors either do a lift or they will sometimes insert some of the fat from other parts of the body, such as the hips or buttocks and insert that into the breast area to make it appear larger, fuller.

No kidding. I've heard about ladies who have gone to see surgeons about getting their breasts reduced, and they would tell the ladies, "Your breasts are fine! I don't see the need to perform the reduction on you."
