View Full Version : Does anyone listen to Delilah?
4starcashier 01-30-2008, 04:25 AM I was just wondering if anyone did...she's on from 7-12 seven days a week here in Des Moines Lite 104.1...my girlfriend and I say she's cool yet she has to be fake in some way. I know she can't be perfect all the time because nobody is...but she acts like she's better than everyone else sometimes...what's yer input?
Max Whittaker 01-30-2008, 02:23 PM She's pretentious and she talks too much.
Good music, but we could do without her.
RoryGilmore 01-30-2008, 02:55 PM My mom used to lover her, I couldnt stand to listen to here though, and my dad calls every guy that calls in with a sappy story pathetic wimps and a whole bunch of other things that SO would censor.
Zoneboy 01-30-2008, 03:16 PM I'm not that desperate.
bingbangbaby 01-30-2008, 04:45 PM I do listen to her...not so much for the stories (which do run sappy) or what she's saying in particular (although I don't have a problem with what she says), but because as someone who travels a lot and moves from state to state a lot a familiar voice that can be found everywhere is comfortable. Unlike local radio shows or local newscasters, I can be anywhere from Detroit to NYC to Omaha to LA to Seattle and hear the same familiar and soothing voice after a long day. That's nice. :)
RoryGilmore 01-30-2008, 06:17 PM I understand that
I can't stand her at all. I listen to Nights With Alice Cooper.
Jo_Luvs_Ketchup 01-30-2008, 07:33 PM I used to but the radio station here took her off :( It came back on another station but it's all static and I can't hear it. I personally don't like hearing her talk to some of the people but she picks out GREAT music! So I love it!!
RoryGilmore 01-30-2008, 08:20 PM oh yeah the music was always good, I like Lite Rock
dawsongirl 01-30-2008, 11:40 PM No. The people that call in make me want to gag. Actually, I don't even listen to the radio at night.
So for a long time I thought Delilah was local lol. How widespread is she? Lots of people here have heard of her.

I can understand that; although I certainly wouldn't describe Delilah's voice as "soothing"...
I actually love sap. Just about anything sappy makes me sigh. But I don't like the way Delilah does it. There's nothing sincere in her voice and it just grates on me.
Dean Winchester 01-31-2008, 01:53 AM not a fan but I can see the whole "soothing" aspect of her voice
Kazza 01-31-2008, 10:53 AM Never heard of Delilah, only Elvira which is a song by the Oak Ridge Boys..they have a mean bass..Giddyup...

catlover79 01-31-2008, 02:37 PM I'm such a geek - I thought she was local all this time!! :o Then again, I rarely listen to her, so no wonder.

Oh yeah until I saw this thread I thought so too!
ilovethe80s 01-31-2008, 05:37 PM I think i've heard of her before Here is the website she is in a lot of states

That's an odd shot.
bingbangbaby 02-01-2008, 12:27 AM Wow the last time I was on her website a few years ago she didn't look anything like that. I think she had red hair and was heavier and she definitely looked older than she does there.
Janice Johnson 02-01-2008, 11:22 AM No, the real soothing voice is the voice that goes, "Delilah," very soothing.....:)
Dean Winchester 02-01-2008, 04:17 PM Wow the last time I was on her website a few years ago she didn't look anything like that. I think she had red hair and was heavier and she definitely looked older than she does there.
How many women in the industry don't eventually get made over?
4starcashier 02-05-2008, 12:16 AM Hey all...I was just checking out the Delilah site...and she looks WAY different than she was a few years ago...I think she let herself go! She's still pretty but for being the "perfect" person that she is she certainly doesn't look perfect...this pic I got from her and Santa (who was really the chef in disguise I think...) she looks like she's the right age...but the voice doesn't fit her....just like I thought Aaron Neville's voice belonged to a black man...I thought he was white until I saw him on The Young and the Restless! But I still listen to Delilah.
But here's a geeky question...who likes the older "Delilah" plugs better? The new ones are okay...but the old ones were there for like TEN/FIFTEEN years! WHY did they change them? My local 104.1 KLTI station plays the old plugs every now and then while advertising Delilah during the day...but yeah.
*Happy Face* 02-14-2008, 01:03 AM That's a cure for insomnia,I used to listen her to all the time when
I couldn't sleep at night, Who needs warm milk?

The second I fall asleep, I'd hear her voice and I'd start awake....
4starcashier 02-14-2008, 03:46 AM The face and the voice DO NOT MATCH for some reason! Maybe she uses a voice scrambler.
phoebe7165 02-14-2008, 03:38 PM I do listen to her...not so much for the stories (which do run sappy) or what she's saying in particular (although I don't have a problem with what she says), but because as someone who travels a lot and moves from state to state a lot a familiar voice that can be found everywhere is comfortable. I travel alot from state to state, too and I catch her show alot. I listen to it and like it sometimes. The thing that gets me is when somebody calls up and tells how much their significant other means to them and Delilah says what song do you want to hear and they will say 'Oh you pick one'. Don't you think they would have their own special song? It always seems like most of the songs she picks, I'm just like "OMG!!", because they're so freaking sappy!!
phoebe7165 02-14-2008, 03:39 PM I can't stand her at all. I listen to Nights With Alice Cooper.
I love Alice Cooper's show, too!! He always has something interesting to say and he can be pretty funny at times.

Yeah, that's her gig though. They are calling for her to pick something sappy and disgusting and she's good at it and they seem to love it
snl 70s show fan 02-15-2008, 02:33 AM i listen to her every once in a while she;s pretty good
Dean Winchester 02-15-2008, 03:04 AM I hear her flipping the channe;s time to time driving at night. It's not bad but I do think she sometimes plays way too much religious music considering she's broadcast on secular channels where Amy Grant is the only religious music they listen to
