When I was 19, 20 years old there was a guy at college I liked. He was into Amway and they had Amway meetings on campus. I went to a few with him and even went to one off campus with him. He was totally into it but those meetings were SO BORING. Janice, those meetings were a great cure for insomnia. I could even feel my eyes glaze over. Long story short, he started seeing one of my female classmates instead of me! I was so crushed - but then he dumped her rather coldly a couple of weeks later. I never saw him again when I was done with college - thank goodness!

I did learn a big lesson, however - don't pretend to be something you're not. Be yourself. :D

Something similar to your story. There was this girl I had liked, I met her through a friend. Anyway, she wasn't interested in me, (according to her, she loved being single) but I continued to persue her anyway. She was a shift manager at McDonald's, and i used to come up there and sit for an hour or so while she worked. I was trying to make her feel really important, but I really liked this girl. I even wrote a love letter and handed it to her and watched her worked. I did it for about 2-3 weeks until I gave up. But you can't tell me she loved the attention I was giving her.

I never could find anyone my age that i could be in a relationship with that had things in common (most were into immature teenage hormonal stages), so if a 20 something year old showed interest in me, I'd lie about my age (my age was about 16, 17). I never did it to get them in trouble, its just i knew that if i told them my real age, they probably wouldn't give me the time of day. Gotta tell you though, it worked :D

Pretty much everything I've done in the name of love has been stupid. That's why I'm single and probably always will be.

Sounds exactly like me Mike, I think I end up pushing away the people I love. :(

Me too, Lauren. :( I think it is probably about time that I excepted the fact that I will probably always be single.

I push too. Even with my boyfriend sometimes. Damn my brain.

Anyway, I acted like a moron more than anything. Trying to get noticed, but it never worked and now I'm glad it didn't. Eight years I wasted on that jerk.

I'm in that club too. I might as well be the poster girl for it.

You'll need a poster boy. *Raises hand* I love to volunteer for stuff, too! :)

A woman smiled at me today. I looked at her blankly and turned away.

That is my fate, my friends.

I'm a member of that club too but I'm replacing the :( with a :). I'm there by choice.

Dumbest thing I ever did in the name of love? I was in my early early 20's and I had been dating this guy for a few years. He wasn't my first boyfriend but he lasted longer than the rest and as we got older we became more serious than I had with anyone else too. Well I should be ashamed, but I'm not because if it wasn't for him I probably would be in some messed up dysfunctional relationships for the rest of my life. The dumb thing I did was overlook and excuse everything. Lying, cheating, overall bad attitude. He'd admit to all of it when confronted and I'd take him back all pathetic and teary-eyed on his promise not to do it again. When he finally decided to dump me it was just a week and a half later that he got married (poor girl...at least I didn't fall that far!). I knew he was sleeping with other people but I had no idea any of them were "serious" enough for him to marry. I'm so glad that happened to me though, because honestly, it made me realize what a healthy relationship is and that it's ok to be me, and ok to expect someone to love me exactly the way I am, and it's ok with me if that does or if it doesn't result in marriage. :)

probably wasting ALL of my trust on one person and having it so badly destroyed that i'll never be able to trust anyone else very much again.

**** relationships.

There was a girl I dated as a teen, that told me to skip my Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. She said, that if I really loved her, I would spend the day with her and not go to the party. She even threatened to break up with me if I went to the party.

Stupid me chose the broad over my grandparents.

Aaah the old "If you really loved me" line eh? I know that one! It no longer works on me. I just come back with, "And if you really loved me, you'd understand how important this is to me" - stalemate!

(especially when 50th anniversaries only come around once!)

My ex actually had one girlfriend extort $15k off him. She actually staged a "kidnapping" and he fell for it. Turns out the guy that had supposedly "kidnapped" her was another guy she was seeing and they were holed up in one of the poshest hotels in Toronto while they were doing this. Unbelievable!

When I was young I had very strict parents. I was not alowed to go out with my friends or even have a boyfriend it really sucked! So anyway When I was 16 I did have a boyfriend and I was so tired of not being able to do anything. So one summer I drove to his house and we decided to run away so we took off to our friends beach house about 2 hours away. We were gone for about 3 days till one of my friends called me and told me my folks had the cops looking for us. I didn't want any crazy cop drama so we drove home in the middle of the night. It just so happened that my parents were waiting there in his drive way when we pulled up. As you can imagine it was not a pretty site. I really had a lot of fun I really don't think it was stupid. But I do feel bad about making my parents worry. Now that boyfriend and I have been married almost 8 years and we have a beautiful baby boy.

Going off with my boyfriend for a weekend without telling my parents. I was 18 but still lived with my parents and this caused a lot of problems for everyone.

Ouch.. Sounds like you went cross the line of no return. *snip*

I think the dumbest thing ive done in the name of love was burn a couple of bridges in the process. Id say sacrificing friends over a relationship is wrong. Gotta find a distinct balance between the two.

Didn't mean to be hard on you, just maybe you should word it differently next time, that's all. :)
