I had $32.00 in my wallet and went to buy lunch at this store across the street from my job and my total came up to $8.00. So I took out a $20 bill and handed it to the lady and was expecting $12.00 change back. The woman put $1.95 on the counter because she said i gave her a $10 dollar bill and I said that i gave her a $20.00 I never had a $10 in my wallet, only a 20, a 5, and 7 one dollar bills totaling $32.00. So I was going back and forth with the lady and she SNATCH the 10 out of her hand and said-"F*CK the food because it was no I was goig to eat after being jammed for $10.00

So they told me to come back when the manager of the store returns which was close to 7pm, so I'm still at work now and headed back over to the store to see if I can get my 20 back. I just can;t beleive a store can be this desperate for money and will try and steal from customers like this.

part of me think I will just have to move on because they don;t want to give me the money and probably told me a fake time and if $10,00 is really that important to them then it's not worth me going to jail over because I was so close to CHOKING the lady when this happened

Wait, she gave you back $1.95??? That is still wrong. If she thought you gave her ten dollars and the food cost $8, it should have been $2 back.

As for the cashier not paying attention, she was wrong obviously. However, the manager will have to count her drawer and make sure the drawer has $10 more than it should have. When I was a manager, I had that issue come up. This customer complained that he was short-changed $5.00.

I counted the drawer immediately and discovered it was $5 plus. I apologized to the customer, who was very nice by the way, and I told the cashier when she got the bill in her hand to say out loud "Out of $20" or "Out of $10" and leave the bills on top of the register until the change was given, this way you are announcing to the customer how much they gave you and the cashier covers their a$$. If you place a $20 bill on the cash register, you won't have a customer tell you they gave you a $50 instead.

This is what she should have done.

Well I went bac at 7pm and they gave me bac my $10 and said that they couldn't find a error in the draw and gave me the $10 out their pocket because they didn't want any trouble-lol What a Day

The manager never came from the back of the store, she sent one the cashiers up to the front with the $10

Oh hell no, I would have demanded to speak to the manager. Your time was wasted having to go back and get your money because of their employee's mistake! I WANT ANSWERS!!!

Mistakes do happen, and that's probably how this mess started. I just don't think they were out to steal your money. For starters, she would choose her 'victims' more wisely, and wouldn't pick on someone who's 6'5". I just find it insane that she basically threw you out of the place. I thought managers were always on duty, especially at the busy lunch hour. I think she took $10 out after you left, to cover her mistake.

I agree, I don't think it was purposeful, however, the way they handled the situation was not right.

What kind of place was this? I am curious now. Was the cashier a young girl?

Every once in a while this happens with me at the Safeway supermarket where I shop. The managers and clerks are generally nice and helpful about it. They don't try to argue about how "right" they are and how "wrong" I am. They go through the trouble of checking the till and giving me back what I'm owed.

 Yeah, i agree that she probably covered her mistake by jacking 10 bucks from the register making it look like you did give her one. Either that or the manager covered for her and the store and just pretended to not find the error.

Sorry, but I don't think for one second that it was a mistake, nor do I think it was the store's fault at all. I've seen it and heard of it happening too often. I think your money was stolen. I know plenty of people who have had the same kind of incident happen to them because some cashiers take advantage of busy people who are on a cell phone or who are in a hurry or not paying much attention or whatever and they just take their change and put it away without really looking at it. The cashiers slip customers change for tens when they were given twenties, hoping people will just take the money without looking too closely (which so many people do!) or hoping they can make you think you gave them a ten. They then pocket the extra money. It happens with dimes and quarters all the time too. This cashier just didn't do it very well and probably didn't think you'd be back to press the issue. I think you were steered clear of the manager on purpose and I sure would be going back there or calling and making sure I spoke to a manager so that you can add your complaint to the list of any others she may have.

If anything, one day I'd go in a few feet when they're at their busiest time. Then all of a sudden, jump up and yell at the top of your lungs, "RAT!!!!!" and start running out the front door! ;)

I did that to a donut shop that had my car towed. I didn't know you weren't supposed to park on their lot, and besides, I had to fast and thought when I came out of the doctors across the street I'd go in and get a bite to eat and a coffee. The bastards had my car towed while I was at the appt. and it cost me $108. I got my revenge though! ;)

I don't get mad - I get even. I would have done it with "cockroaches" - but couldn't find anything plastic to toss in and sure didn't want to go around gathering real ones. The rat was effective though - shocked looks on the customers and the manager started to run out after me behind from behind the counter but I played it up to the hilt. Luckily they didn't recognize me - I waited about 3 - 4 weeks before I did it.
