View Full Version : Goof Big Mistake
prestige 01-09-2008, 05:21 PM I have watched the 5 episodes on the first season and could you believe, there was no bathroom door, later on that season, up came a bathroom door--
Remember, Michael did not have a bedroom, when he got suspended, James ordered him to his room, James saying, I said go to your room now-
How come the milk carton is always empty and partially open when Florida returns from the grocery store and the egg carton is empty all the time.
I saw on one episode, during the first season, the family was sitting at the kitchen table and the camera was going around the table, jj goofy self duck his head away from the camera looking up at the camera.
What about the painting when jj painted thelma and thelma said that she looks like Wilt Chamberlin, jj painted thelma with shorts and tennis shoes on, thelma was wearing a yellow shirt and purple pants and her hair do was totally different, big mistakes.
Ireneparalegal 01-09-2008, 05:30 PM There was always a bathroom door.
JJ's paintings were done by the way he saw things, not how people dressed. He always did that. When he painted the Wiggler (the woman who wanted herself to be painted naked) he painted her in a different bikini than the one she wore.
James just said "go to your room" but we knew Michael didn't have a bedroom, but he and JJ shared Thelma's room for studying and other things, except sleeping, so it was Michael's room. And J.J's room too.
The rest of your comments, those are not goofs.

Look at the wall, there was no bedroom door on the that wall the first 3 episodes, it was only thelma's room door on that wall, later in the first season you will see, 2 doors, that is thelma's room door and the bathroom door
JJ's paintings were done by the way he saw things, not how people dressed. He always did that.
Then why would jj have people standing there to paint an incorrect picture portrait, what was the purpose of the hair, clothes and pose are all totally different from what he was painting -

Michael did not go to Thelma's room, he went to his parents bedroom-

Ireneparalegal 01-09-2008, 06:17 PM I just popped in my DVD's and there is the bathroom door. There is a small separation of some sort on the wall, a sort of divider but you can easily see Thelma's bedroom door and the divider, where you assume the bathroom is.
J.J. like a lot of artists, need models and in his case, he painted people by exaggeration. He needed them to pose so he can paint their facial features, but the rest, he used his imagination. Many artists do that. There are some artists who don't need models or don't need the person to stand in front of them to make the painting. Do you think artists who painted Jesus had Jesus right in front of them? No. They use their imagination. And that is what J.J. did. J.J. did mention at least once on an episode that he painted people the way "he saw them."
As for James saying, "Go to your room" I believe that is just a remark James said since the whole apartment belongs to everyone. He was too angry to care how perfect his grammar was.
prestige 01-09-2008, 06:20 PM Look at the first episode in the first season, you cannot tell me that you see two doors on that wall-it is one door!!!!!!
Ireneparalegal 01-09-2008, 06:28 PM I just watched it. There are two doors on that wall and the parent's door facing the audience.
prestige 01-09-2008, 06:30 PM Maybe I am blind, I am looking at the 1st episode of the first season right now and I don't see two doors, I know the parents room is facing the audience----
Ireneparalegal 01-09-2008, 06:35 PM You will see something protruding from the wall, it looks like a divider. You then have Thelma's room right in the corner, almost on top of the parent's door. But there is two doors on that wall.
TripperFan 01-09-2008, 06:47 PM Sounds like you guys are watching two different series. ;)
Too bad - it just aired an hour ago (6th ep) wish I had noticed but I was posting.
prestige 01-09-2008, 06:55 PM Did you watch when they were getting evicted?, the very first episode, I did not see 2 doors, I saw the divider-

Yep. I have seen Good Times a zillion times. I have the DVD, I seen the door. The camera doesn't show the door, it pans in that direction, you have to look real good.
You also said in the first five episodes you didn't see the door. Do you still say that or is it just the first episode now?

First three in the first season---
Brieannas21 01-09-2008, 07:30 PM Now I'm wondering about the bathroom door LOL
Ireneparalegal 01-09-2008, 07:37 PM That divider that comes out of the wall, is where the bathroom door is supposed to be. It is facing in a different direction. It faces towards Thelma's door. Later, that divider was removed and the wall was made flat and the door was side by side with Thelma's. I checked the first three episodes.
Brieannas21 01-09-2008, 07:49 PM In the first episode there wasn't a bathroom door and Thelma's bedroom door isn't there at all. Where that gray piece of concret wall is there's a plant stand there with a lamp on top where the bathroom door and Thelma's door would be.
It looks like that kitchen wall that has the pic of Jesus on it is shorter which makes that kitchen bigger and that would explain why there's no bathroom and why Thelma didn't have a bedroom in the first episode. So yeah that was a huge goof in the first episode.
Ireneparalegal 01-09-2008, 08:32 PM Ok, that divider that protrudes from the wall, is where the bathroom door is ASSUMED TO BE. When someone passes that divider, you turn almost all around to enter. That divider partially covers what is Thelma's door. You cannot see the bathroom door, but that is where the bathroom is. Just because you don't see the door, doesn't mean there was no bathroom. That can be said for many sets on a show.
I can understand if there was a flat wall and all we see is Thelma's door and the parent's door. But there is the divider that comes out of the wall and that is to tell you the bathroom enters from that direction.

In the pic are you talking about that divider?
Ireneparalegal 01-09-2008, 10:51 PM Yes ma'am. Now, you have to imagine the door right there, facing the parent's bedroom.
prestige 01-10-2008, 11:00 AM You can imagine all day long, the question is, is it really a bathroom door there?-lol
prestige 01-10-2008, 11:03 AM There cannot be a bathroom door and thelma's room door in that short of a distance--im sorry, the lamp is too close to the divider-

Yeah, I don't see how a door could fit in that tight spot. So I think that the set designer goofed because there's no door there. If you notice the kitchen area is much bigger in this episode.
prestige 01-10-2008, 11:30 AM Thank you!!!!!!!!!
TVFactFan 01-10-2008, 01:48 PM Prestige another nice catch and there is defintely no door in that episode. Please stick around we need more threads like these-lol
Ireneparalegal 01-10-2008, 05:01 PM Imagine it like an "L" formation. The two doors are not side by side.
Brieannas21 01-10-2008, 09:42 PM Thank you!!!!!!!!!
