LOS ANGELES - Tom Bosley wants to show he still has it at 80. Last year, the actor best known for playing Richie Cunningham's father on "Happy Days" co-starred with Michael Learned in a seven-month national tour of "On Golden Pond."
Now he's starting off the new year with a starring role in the TV movie "Charlie & Me," airing Saturday on the Hallmark Channel.
Bosley plays a charismatic grandfather who, despite suffering a near-fatal heart attack, is determined to mend the relationship between his workaholic, widowed son and his feisty 12-year-old granddaughter before he dies.
"Although I love my home, my family and everything about my non-work life, I also want to keep acting as long as God will let me," said Bosley, who played Father Frank Dowling on "Father Dowling Mysteries."
"It's what still drives me," he said in a statement issued to the cable channel. "I want to prove to myself that I can still do it."
catlover79 01-02-2008, 12:36 AM I've always enjoyed Tom Bosley. I also remember him as the GLAD trash bag spokesman and the voice of David the Gnome (a cartoon that ran on Nick back in the early '90s). God bless him!! :D

Good Attitude, Howie...erm...Tom ;-)
freshprinceofLA 01-02-2008, 05:51 PM Good for him Tom's a great actor!
Scoobiedoo30 01-02-2008, 06:03 PM good for Tom he is an Awsome Actor
wayne 01-03-2008, 05:46 PM I saw Tom Bosley in a Perry Mason movie. It was about a nun who was accused of killing a priest who was presumed to be her lover. I think Tom played a priest.
Its great that he's still so active at 80.
catlover79 01-03-2008, 07:13 PM He was also funny as the harried family doctor in the 1968 Lucille Ball/Henry Fonda flick Yours, Mine & Ours. He shared a small scene with his then 5-year-old future Father Dowling co-star, Tracy Nelson.
faraj 01-04-2008, 04:01 PM I've always enjoyed Tom Bosley. I also remember him as the GLAD trash bag spokesman and the voice of David the Gnome (a cartoon that ran on Nick back in the early '90s). God bless him!! :D
And he's also known to voice Harry Boyle from Wait Till Your Father Gets Home.
tv star collector 01-05-2008, 09:35 AM More power to him! It's always inspiring when veteran actors can still find work (and are still able to work).
MrRetro_08 01-05-2008, 08:07 PM He looks different, has he lost weight or something?
88survivor 01-05-2008, 10:16 PM He is 80 years old. Do you expect them to look the same throughout the whole year? People change. Look at Charlotte Rae. Looks like a grandma compare to her Diff'rent Strokes or Facts of Life Mrs. Garrett. Look at Conrad Bain. In the Diff'rent Strokes DVD, you could tell how much he aged over the years. People don't remain the same at all. They change. It's gravity, people. Get over it. End of rant....:D
tiff7 01-07-2008, 04:10 PM Happy b-day Tom! :)
Waterston_Fan 06-11-2008, 10:35 AM I didn't want to make a new thread so I did a search for Tom Bosley...
He must have really not minded not getting much screen time the last few years of Happy Days..
I you see the theme credits, he's at the beginning for a few years with Marion then the last few years, Marion is near the top and poor Tom is like at the end...
anglemark10 06-11-2008, 10:52 AM Actually, he was always last. He did, however, always have the "and starring" label as opposed to most of the other cast, including Marion Ross until the very end, that had "co-starring."
Wreckless 06-11-2008, 08:16 PM Tom is a great guy, congrats! One of my fav. characters on Happy Days.
Waterston_Fan 06-11-2008, 08:51 PM I didn't want to make a new thread even though this is about Tom...
Hugh Beaumont did it on Leave It To Beaver, Robert Reed did it on 'The Brady Bunch'..
Did Tom Bosley direct any episodes on Happy Days?
catlover79 06-11-2008, 09:46 PM ^ I looked this up - he did not direct any Happy Days eps. Ron Howard never even directed any Happy Days eps!!!

Wow!! Ron didn't even? That's crazy!!! I would have thought he directed one.

Same here! Alas, he never did. :(

The first and last billings are the most important. I guess that since Tom was already very experienced (for lack of a better word) he was given the "and starring" billing that's reserved for one of the top stars of any show. Ron and Henry were the others billed in the starring role, though I've always wondered why Marion wasn't included there.

I heard that Henry and Tom were the only ones who began with the show to still be in every episode...

She was in seasons 10 and 11.
I heard that Henry and Tom were the only ones who began with the show to still be in every episode...
This is true.
Wreckless 06-13-2008, 05:02 PM People say that Tom Bosley and Anson were the only ones to be in the pilot on but Fonzie was the only one, or Marion it might of been, that was in the regular episodes on. Which I don't understand one bit, if this is true, wouldn't Potsie and Mr. C be in every episode besides the pilot, like it says? It makes no sense if you look at that trivia. Somebody bring up the exact trivia I'm talking about.

Huh?
The original pilot is not included when talking about who was in every episode of the Happy Days series. Those in the cast of Happy Days that were, also, in the Love, American Style "Love and the Happy Days" episode include Ron Howard, Anson Williams, and Marion Ross. Only Tom Bosley and Henry Winkler were in every single episode of the actual Happy Days series.
Wreckless 06-14-2008, 03:52 AM Ok thanks for clarifying that, I didn't understand it at first.
