View Full Version : You enjoy watching the cable station (TBS) or (TVLand/N@N)?
TVFactFan 01-01-2008, 03:07 PM TBS to me is the Cable Channel Champion of TV shows and they treat their shows so well and it's been that way for years. Only if TBS could show the TV shows that TVLAND or N@N airs that station would be even better.
I just think TBS should show more shows before 1990, espcially in primetime.
What is your choice?
Tubehead 01-01-2008, 03:17 PM Only show i watch on tbs is king of queens and sometimes fresh prince. i like nick at nite. i like home inprovment and gerog lopez. both are really good shows. i heard family matters is coming on nick at nite in 2008. i can't wait!

N@N/TVland have the better shows and TBS has the better editing. When will there be a day a cable station has both? TV one is close to being that but it' too ONESIDED
Scoobiedoo30 01-01-2008, 03:43 PM I watch TBS WGN TV Land Lifetime among other Cable Station's
PlayOn 01-01-2008, 04:21 PM Since I'm mad at TVLand and all N@N shows is 'Fresh Prince', I'm going with TBS. I like how they add four episodes of 'Home Improvement' back to back around lunch time. And I agree they could pick up more older shows, like 'All in the Family.' At least it will probably get repect at TBS.

TBS did such a better job with Three's Company than N@N or TV Land. They have editing professionals, not Interns-lol
Pavan 01-01-2008, 04:31 PM TBS never edited the Three's Company copies. DLT Entertainment did. TBS used the same prints as local syndication edits.
And I think TBS does that for all their shows...uses the local syndication prints.
TV Land and Nick at Nite do their own editing. The pros for that are usually the tag scenes are shown as well as the full opening themes of a show.

Well I wished N@N used the local syndication edits like TBS did, it was only because of TBS that allowec me to see Jack tripper's full dance scene before season 6 came out on DVD.
DSfan 01-01-2008, 04:57 PM TBS is by far the best. I remember in the 90s it was amazing. Full House, Family Matters, Fresh Prince, Saved by the Bell, sooo many others
ABC Family imo is also one of the better cable networks, too bad TNN had to become Spike (aka Star Trek TV)

I know, I enjoyed TNN too back in 2002 when they had Diffrent strokes and Three's Company on the schedule
Lorimar Television 01-01-2008, 05:19 PM The only show I watch on TBS is Home Improvement, and I can watch that on N@N. Plus I love George Lopez, so N@N. TBS has alot more commercials too, and for Home Improvement, I though TBS did bad editing. They cut important scenes, N@N didn't.

I enjoy TVOne. I too wish it would add more black-oriented shows that had white cast members, not just all black cast members. Right now they are airing a PJ's marathon. That will air til 2:30 a.m.

Not that's surprising to hear because Fresh Prince on TBS has all the funny scenes in tact but they are all CUT OUT on N@N.

Well they did air AMEN with one cast white member by the name of INGA-lol Remember I said "ONE or NONE" That's how TV ONE is

TBS is far from what they use to be, Nick at Nite is nothing but repetitive garbage, and TV Land stopped being TV land for a couple of years. If they stop changing their schedule all the time, they would be ok.
Ireneparalegal 01-01-2008, 05:48 PM Well they did air AMEN with one cast white member by the name of INGA-lol Remember I said "ONE or NONE" That's how TV ONE is
Do you think a channel could get away with showing ALL WHITE shows?
friendsfan77 01-01-2008, 06:03 PM I hardly watch TBS anymore compared to the old days; it's why I would wind up being ecstatic when I heard about what shows were going to be featured on Peachtree TV. The only shows I really watch on TBS now are Sex and the City and the occassional Family Guy episode. TVLand I rarely watch too. And N@N is just beyond a joke now.
As far as TVOne goes, I wish I had that channel.
TVFactFan 01-01-2008, 06:27 PM Do you think a channel could get away with showing ALL WHITE shows?
HELL NO-lol WET- White Entertainment Television. You know it would be a lot of controversy if that was the case which is why I never agreed with the BET title
LOL
MLBonTBS 01-01-2008, 08:53 PM These networks were much better 10 years ago or so. Today there are so many cable stations that they all think they have to stand out with original programming, branding, younger demographics, etc.. which impresses advertisers but not viewers.

Well, BET shows things geared toward the black community. What would have been a better name?
dakert 01-01-2008, 10:51 PM I watch neither-zilch-nada. all three are awful as fas as I am concerned

Something else besides BET
PlayOn 01-01-2008, 11:41 PM WET? lol.
The only thing I watch on TV1 is 'Good Times' and sometimes 'Amen!' and the show that starred Wanda Sikes.
TVFactFan 01-01-2008, 11:47 PM WET? lol.
The only thing I watch on TV1 is 'Good Times' and sometimes 'Amen!' and the show that starred Wanda Sikes.
The only way I would watch Good Times again is if someone send me a episode recorded on CBS with all the original commercials in tact. Other than I have no desire to watch the show again

Good luck with that.
TVFactFan 01-02-2008, 12:26 AM Good luck with that.
So it' safe to say I wont be watching GT anymore-lol
tanquant 01-02-2008, 10:28 AM I like TBS. The way they treat their shows is amazing. I love the way they treat Yes Dear which IMO is a very underrated show. I also like TV Land but I can't stand Nick at nite. They know that they can show more than 3 shows. FP needs to go.Maybe I'll watch it when Family Matters joins the line up and when they run that show into the ground I'll stop again.
JulieSomoski 01-02-2008, 05:13 PM Right now, definitely TBS. Although, the network was much better in the late 80's/early 90's, when they aired a much better variety of shows from all eras. Right now, if they could cut back on the airings of Seinfeld/Friends/Everybody Loves Raymond/Family Guy in primetime, I'd be a happy camper-LOL.
ABC Family is another great channel when it comes to sitcoms. Their daytime lineup is pretty good. Of course, it was much better when they were airing Boy Meets World and Step by Step, but it's not bad.
DSfan 01-02-2008, 05:32 PM It's too bad that The Wonder Years isn't on anymore.
I agree ^^ that Family Guy needs to be on channels like Comedy Central but not every local and cable channel. I get at least 10 airings a day here in Canada, it's disgusting.
I wish there could be some invention where you could you select any show to ever air on a network and just watch it or like click a button and watch TGIF from the 90s, unfortunately I'm dreaming in technicolor lol
Lorimar Television 01-02-2008, 07:32 PM Of course, it was much better when they were airing Boy Meets World and Step by Step, but it's not bad.
They still air SBS, but at 8 am.
JulieSomoski 01-02-2008, 07:36 PM They still air SBS, but at 8 am.
They do! You're kidding me! Isn't that sad when a person doesn't even know when of their favorite shows is still on the lineup!-LOL
Is it only 1 airing? Because I thought Sister Sister was airing then, and I don't bother to watch it on ABCF since I can watch it on WGN at a better time.
Pavan 01-02-2008, 08:21 PM Step by Step has been at 9am ET/PT for a while now. One airing a day.
And as far as TBS goes, back when they were airing Three's Company, the fans were calling TBS "The Butcher Shop" or "The Butcher Station."
TBS never edited the Three's Company copies. DLT Entertainment did. TBS used the same prints as local syndication edits.

TV Land and Nick at Nite do their own editing. The pros for that are usually the tag scenes are shown as well as the full opening themes of a show.
Can't speak for TBS, but I know some of my locals air Andy Griffith and occasionally I Love Lucy....the cuts are not very good at all, IMO. In that case, TV Land's editing is much better. They seem to have a lot more commercials.
TVFactFan 01-02-2008, 09:21 PM Can't speak for TBS, but I know some of my locals air Andy Griffith and occasionally I Love Lucy....the cuts are not very good at all, IMO. In that case, TV Land's editing is much better. They seem to have a lot more commercials.
I guess it depends on the show because TBS didn't treat Good times good at all, they gave the CHIP CHOP version-lol

I don't know why when the entire Jac Tripper dance scene was seen on TBS
Dean Winchester 01-02-2008, 09:28 PM TBS shows mostly shows that are played to death in reruns and the vast majority of which have been completed on DVD (Friends, Seinfeld, Family Guy, Sex And The City, Saved By The Bell, Fresh Prince, do they still air Cosby?), but... at least they air more than three shows and devote special night/blocks to their shows instead of day in day out Fresh Prince.
icecream 01-02-2008, 10:32 PM TBS doesn't air anything must see. I'll occasionally watch Home Improvement, Seinfeld, and Yes Dear. I definitely prefer Nick at Nite/TVLand. Nick at Nite has George Lopez and occasionally Murphy Brown. TVLand has several good shows. The best ones are I Love Lucy, M*A*S*H, and Cheers.
Lorimar Television 01-03-2008, 07:12 PM They do!
What is WGN, and when does it air SBS?!
JulieSomoski 01-03-2008, 07:16 PM What is WGN, and when does it air SBS?!
WGN airs Sister Sister everyday at 5pm where I live.

WGN is a TV station in Chicago carried but some Cable companies. I think Directv has it but Comcast doesn't. I had WGN when I was in College

Comcast has it - I have comcast, and get WGN.

True - I know mine is the Chicago affiliate (although I don't live in Chicago, or even in Illinois), because they air the Chicago news every night at 9pm I believe.
Ireneparalegal 01-03-2008, 08:36 PM I guess it depends on the show because TBS didn't treat Good times good at all, they gave the CHIP CHOP version-lol
At least TBS aired the entire ending to the Willona & Ray episode. We got to see Willona making up with Flo and hugging Thelma and calling the bakery to cancel her wedding cake.
DSfan 01-03-2008, 08:53 PM I don't get WGN anymore.
My provider randomly gave me a local WGN9 feed which is all the regular shows that are on all the time.
