Sandra Clark, no doubt. She was funnier, and was clearly the best actor on 227, especially during the earlier seasons. Sure, she didn't have smarts, but she was beautiful and stole every scene she was in. Didn't she even win an emmy for oustanding actress in the first season?

Yes, Jackee Harry won an Emmy in 1987 for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. I've seen very little of 227 (I should check the DVD set out of the library one of these days), but am much more familiar with her work on Sister, Sister.

I like them both, but I will go with Willona because she was more likable than Sandra. Plus, it didn't seem like Mary really like Sandra and in contrast, everyone liked Willona.

Except for Balderman Davis, who often screwed up her name (Wyoming, Wilomena, Pomona, etc.).

I have to admit that I watched a few episodes of 227 back in the day. As a result I'll have to go with Sandra. Of course, all I really remember about her was that she was a ditz and had a massive head of 80's hair. I don't much care for Good Times and don't know who Willona is.

I did request 227 from the library (via the online catalog) - when I watch it I'll post my thoughts. You just can't beat the huge 80s hair!!

I knew she was the only one on the show to ever win an Emmy. Check the show out, it's really funny. I'm probably more familiar with her on Sister Sister as well, but she's just as funny in 227, and probably a better actor as well.

Sandra is 227. Notice that 227 went from a huge Saturday flagship show alongside The Golden Girls to being put on hiatus mid-season once Jackee left at the start of the 1989-1990 season.

I always thought it was funny that Marla and Jackee apparently didn't get along backstage because Marla was upset that Jackee took over "her" show, when Marla was a scene-stealing co-star on The Jeffersons herself.

Jackee and Marla Gibbs have since resolved their differences - they even went on a tour together to promote the 227 DVD. Something not a lot of people don't know is that Jackee was one of the first actors to star on daytime and primetime at the same time. When she started on 227, she was appearing on the soap opera Another World (both shows aired on NBC).

I wonder if they've totally made up or if there is still a little tension from the past. I ask this because I noticed that in every 227 "reunion" I saw of the three actresses, even on the DVD, Alaina Reed was always in the middle. The reason a lot of people noticed this is because of The Golden Girls. It's been well documented that Bea Arthur and Betty White hated each other for years and still haven't fully made up. Everytime you see the three healthy Golden Girls in interviews or doing DVD signings or whatever, Rue McClanahan is always in the middle between Bea and Betty.

What a shame. These ladies are not getting any younger, so why can't they just let bygones be bygones - especially after so many years have gone by?? :(

I don't believe there's any tension between the 2. Both seemed fine during the reunion things on the DVD. Plus, once Jackee left 227, the show didn't fall much, I believe. I don't even think it fell out of the top 30 by the show's end, but I could be mistaken. And Jackee still appeared in the last season, just as a recurring character. That's something I'll hav to check out.

I could take either one as a neighbor because at the end of the day they always had their friends back.

actually, Wiki's ratings for the last season don't coincide with the ratings in the book of Prime Time shows that has the top 30 shows for each season. 227 was in slow decline by the beginning of the 1989-1990 season, but once Sandra moved out, the ratings plunged. She was in a number of episodes that season, but they were all early on during the year. By Feb 1990, NBC shelved 227 and moved the last few episodes of ALF into that timeslot, putting 227 on hiatus, and when it came back, the last few episodes were burned off on Sunday night with very little fanfare. I personally liked Toukie's character and Paul Winfield made a great foil for the ladies, but Stoney and Barry Sobel were both unnecessary additions I thought, and really took the show down.

Dean, I wasn't referring to Wikipedia at all, but I wasn't sure of it in the first place. I knew ratings took a dive in season 5, but do you know the exact rating it got for it's final season? I also knew it was shelved to Sunday nights, but I didn't think the ratings were that horrible once Sandra left.
