In a past post, I was trying to get an accounting for all the "Final Appeal" segments on UM. Interestingly enough, I found this neat article TJ posted back in 2002 with information from a presskit detailing the types of segments and statistics with regard to how many cases in each category were solved.

His post indicates that there were 18 "Final Appeal" segments aired before May 20, 1996. Thus far, I have been able to account for 12 cases appearing exclusively on UM. Since the number is so low, I'm guessing the presskit statistics are lumping the "Final Appeal" spin-off cases in there too. So, here is the list of appealants, the dates their stories aired, and the crimes they were accused of.

2. Michael Scott Martin – 2/5/88 – armed robbery.
3. Dr. John Branion – 12/20/89 - murder.
4. Johnny Lee Wilson – 11/28/90 – murder, arson.

7. Bird Road Rapist - 12/16/92 - rape.
8. Rick McCue – 1/6/93 - murder.
9. Rolando Cruz – 2/9/93 - murder.
10. Michael Lloyd Self – 5/19/93 - murder.
11. Paul Freshour – 11/11/94 – attempted murder, harassment.
12. Stuart Heaton – 12/16/94 - murder.

13. Dr. Jeffery MacDonald – Final Appeal – 9/18/92 - murder.
14. WWII group of black servicemen – Final Appeal - 9/18/92(?) - mutiny.
15. Paul W. Ferrell – Final Appeal – 9/25/92 - murder.

Maybe this list could become a "sticky"?

^ Not only sticky this but really CD or somebody should do an attractive 2 DVD set with all of these on them. I know many of us have most of these already on either various "Dawn DVD"s (hey I think I just named Crystaldawn's DVD "company"!) or whatnot but it would be nice to have an attractive two disc set of these

At least two segments from the "Final Appeal" program were updated on UM on NBC: Tony Miller and John Purvis. The John Purvis update made it to Lifetime, the Tony Miller update did not (to my knowledge).

Paul Freshour's segment was indeed a "Final Appeal" on UM. An odd choice since Freshour had already been released from prison. Although he was trying to clear his name, since he was still implicated in and convicted for his involvement with the Circleville Letters. I consider Freshour's segment a hybrid between "Unexplained Death" "Final Appeal" and "Wanted". Kinda like Tim McClure in the sense that he too was trying to clear his name, but McClure's segment was still labeled an "Unexplained Death".

All that being said, there is at least one case I can't account for. If I had to guess, I would say it is another episode of the "Final Appeal" spinoff of which we are unaware.

Those episodes of the "Final Appeal" program are the ultimate holy grail. To my knowledge, no one has claimed to have them on tape, and they never resurfaced on Lifetime (with the exceptions of the Macdonald case and the black seamen).
