That is the most popular show to watch, no doubt, but is there anybody going to watch something else to ring in the new year?

View Full Version : Is Anybody here going to watch anything BESIDES Dick Clark's New Year's Eve Show? Brian Damage 12-29-2007, 01:40 PM That is the most popular show to watch, no doubt, but is there anybody going to watch something else to ring in the new year? Max Whittaker 12-29-2007, 02:16 PM I hope to spend the new year way from a computer/tv screen. Every year I've spent it like that. I think it might be appropriate to ring in 2008 in a different fashion. I haven't figured out what yet. But it will be spectacular. OH Nuts! 12-29-2007, 03:34 PM I'm going to be out @ a party where's there's no TV--so I'm not watching anything New Year's Eve. Also I'm going to be @ the party early helping to decorate. LuLu Rogers 12-29-2007, 05:35 PM I plan to spend it the same way I do every year, alone with junk food and a movie. :( dawsongirl 12-29-2007, 11:27 PM I never watch anything on New Year's Eve. I'd rather stare at a wall than watch a bunch of annoying acts parading around a stage. Dean Winchester 12-29-2007, 11:39 PM it all depends on who the musical guests are, whoever I like the best is the show I watch. I would be interested to see how Dick has improved or not this year tho, last time he was on TV, it was heartbreaking seeing him in the post-stroke condition because he has defied age and has been so energetic for so long that to see him weakened without his voice yet restored was really hard to watch. friendsfan77 12-30-2007, 12:38 AM it all depends on who the musical guests are, whoever I like the best is the show I watch. I'll be interested in seeing how Dick is doing now for me too. It almost made me cry last year watching him considering his condition. Hopefully he's in better shape now. PZelda 12-30-2007, 02:15 AM I went bowling one year on NYE... when we got to the bowling alley, it was December 31, 2001. When we left, it was January 1, 2002. That was pretty cool... I'd like to do that again tomorrow. But I might end up just staying in instead. Janice 12-30-2007, 02:20 AM We usually put the tv on at 11:30, then watch the ball drop. We haven't gone out in years. Too many drunks on the road. We may have my friend and her husband over for Chinese food, but they live only 10 minutes away. Ireneparalegal 01-01-2008, 10:03 PM The Dick Clark thingy is sad to watch now. Hearing him talk just reminds me of him having had that stroke. Thank goodness he survived but it just isn't the same. I went to bed at 11 p.m. I was too damn tired from lack of sleep the night before. catlover79 01-01-2008, 10:06 PM I did watch Dick Clark but only for the countdown. He does sound better now than he has the past couple of years. I went to my cousin's house for a New Year's Party when DC first came back. All of us were shocked watching him, but he sure has had a lot of guts soldiering on the way he has. Dean Winchester 01-01-2008, 10:06 PM it's sad that he hasn't really improved much at all since he first came back to TV two years ago. One of my dad's friends had a stroke a few years ago and he's back to somewhat normal and the voice is back to how it sounded beforehand *Happy Face* 01-01-2008, 10:11 PM My family and I watched the countdown last night. That's what we do every year. And then the adults toast with champagne while the kids, teens and the younger adults who aren't old enough to drink yet toast with Kool-Aid,Hawaiian Punch or soft drinks. Mr. Television 01-01-2008, 10:16 PM it's sad that he hasn't really improved much at all since he first came back to TV two years ago. One of my dad's friends had a stroke a few years ago and he's back to somewhat normal and the voice is back to how it sounded beforehand My Uncle had a stroke about 15 years ago. He get's around good. He even still drives but his voice is really bad. You have to pay real close attention to understand him. Dick Clark actually sounds better than my Uncle. What is real sad is seeing Dick Clark as mortal. For so many years he was touted as the world's oldest teenager. Nobody could guess he was as old as he really was. That isn't the case anymore. It just breaks your heart watching him but I'm still glad he does the show. New Years wouldn't be the same without him. Janice 01-01-2008, 10:40 PM My Uncle had a stroke about 15 years ago. He was trying so hard, but the damage is done, same with Kirk Douglas. My father had a stroke. It was so sad seeing a big strapping guy like my Dad, to lose the use of half his body, and to talk like that. They try to hard, and that just makes it sadder, to me. Dean Winchester 01-01-2008, 10:43 PM if it wasn't for the voice, I wouldn't notice too much. But that definate "Dick Clark-ness" in his voice that was identifiable by everyone is gone, it just doesn't seem right hearing him talk and it's all rasp with none of what he used to sound like. Scoobiedoo30 01-02-2008, 05:55 PM The only thing I watched was Dick Clark Rock and Eve Ireneparalegal 01-02-2008, 06:45 PM if it wasn't for the voice, I wouldn't notice too much.
