JulieSomoski 12-29-2007, 04:10 PM Great news! Just another classic gameshow to add to my collection! Wasn't there supposed to be a Match Game Volume 2 DVD released around the same time? Chelsea 12-29-2007, 07:24 PM Perhaps a better title for this dvd might be "Best of TPIR that don't involve any of the models that were wrongfully dismissed by the cranky, horny, discriminatory Bob Barker." While I don't have an episode list available yet, I'm fairly sure the disc will be comprised mainly of older episodes. TPIRfan333 12-29-2007, 10:57 PM I will pick this set up in a heartbeat. It will make a great additon to my Match Game DVD set. I've always wanted TPIR on DVD. Much thanks to BCI for making this set. wiseguy182 01-01-2008, 02:07 AM While I don't have an episode list available yet, I'm fairly sure the disc will be comprised mainly of older episodes. Wow. I'm surpised and glad that there will be older episodes. in 1996, a clipfest special had no clips/mention of Dian and Holly (they were gone by then) and the one this year had no clips/mentions of Diane, Holly, Janis and Kathleen, and I'm sure there were more newer models I'm not familiar with. I always felt one of the reason the reruns haven't been on gsn is because of the past models being on there. Bob's got so many skeletons in the closet, they're raiding leftovers from the fridge (from Jimmy James on Newsradio) friendsfan77 01-11-2008, 02:47 AM TV Shows on DVD mentions that some of the episodes included will be a few Cullen shows, Bob's first show and his final week. http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Price-Right-The-Best-Of/8760 I will be buying this for the Cullen episodes alone. wiseguy182 01-11-2008, 04:18 AM whoa! 26 episodes for $30. that's a bargain. wiseguy182 01-11-2008, 05:08 AM also nice to see some Cullen eps on here. mriggles 01-11-2008, 06:02 AM Glad Bob's last week will be on there...I have the shows on home made DVD's & i have his last show on a dvd made for me by CBS, but you can never have too many!!!! I also heard that Bobs first show with gray hair will be one of the episodes, but I have not yet seen that anywhere officially JulieSomoski 01-12-2008, 09:45 PM I think it would have been better to just include Bob's last episode, instead of his whole last week. I'd rather see for classic episodes than 4 newer episodes. I'm also surprised to see Cullen episodes on here. While I'm glad I'll finally get to see them, shouldn't they have just stuck with Barker episodes? Or possibly release a set of Barker episodes, and another set of Cullen episodes? wiseguy182 02-14-2008, 12:43 PM I have Bob's second episode with original commercials, his last dark hair day, his first grey hair day, and others. The 2nd ep features one of the few playings of the original bullseye. possible spoiler alert.... One of the last 2 episodes I mentioned featured a miracoulous win by a horrible bidder: she was bidding on something in contestants row, I don't remember what it was, but she bid $20,000. Well there aren't even that many spaces to contain that amount. She changed it to $2,000 I believe and won her way up. She played most expensive and lost, although she would have won easily had she listened to the audience. She got to the showcase and bid $1100, although no showcase in 1987 was less than $10,000 IIRC. However, the other contestant had foolishly overbid on the second showcase, and she won with a difference of over $15,000. I think I would have collapsed on the floor in disbelief if I were Bob. Jude The Obscure 03-22-2008, 08:10 PM Looking forward to seeing it--esp the early '70s episodes! TVFactFan 03-22-2008, 10:04 PM Looking forward to seeing it--esp the early '70s episodes! I was going to buy the DVD until i found out that tey included 5 eps from 2007. Why the hell would 5 eps from 2007 be on a BEST OF PRICE IS RIGHT DVD?? mriggles 03-22-2008, 10:13 PM I was going to buy the DVD until i found out that tey included 5 eps from 2007. Yeah but they could have included ONE, the last one with BOB not Five. It was almost a buyable DVD Jude The Obscure 03-23-2008, 12:54 AM I will most likely rent it from Netflix JMFabiano524 03-24-2008, 09:55 AM If you look at the "last Barker week = bonus" theory, you can say this is a 1972-75 volume of Best Of... episodes. Assuming there'll be more. But I have heard the rumors of the model-embargo, and we all know about the Barker fur-embargo, which is why no first ever episode. A spinoff of this rumor has Barker wanting to bury any host but him and Bill Cullen, which was why no Tom Kennedy or Dennis James. Of course this comes from the Bob Barker = Political Tyrant party among game show fans, so take it for what you will. (not that I deny the behind-the-scenes ugliness, of course) Given the classic content, I'll probably want this anyway... The only bonus that should be on there is HOW HE GOT THE JOB in 72 Jude The Obscure 03-27-2008, 12:27 AM Got Disc 1 in today and I immediately plopped it in :) Loved seeing the 1972 episodes--what a kick! And my word, that Bullseye game was just HOR-REE-BULL! Wise decision to get rid of that sucker early. As for the Bill Cullen episodes--watched for the novelty, but honestly, how did that format survive for so long?? MrCleveland 03-27-2008, 03:55 PM I hope they have the 'Wardrobe Malfunction' moment. (And I hope it's pixelated too.) Jude The Obscure 03-27-2008, 03:59 PM If you read the DVD review here, you will see that it isn't included. :( TVFactFan 03-27-2008, 06:34 PM Got Disc 1 in today and I immediately plopped it in :) Loved seeing the 1972 episodes--what a kick! And my word, that Bullseye game was just HOR-REE-BULL! Wise decision to get rid of that sucker early. As for the Bill Cullen episodes--watched for the novelty, but honestly, how did that format survive for so long?? So they have the very first ep of Price is Right with Barker on the DVD? friendsfan77 03-27-2008, 06:39 PM Yeah but they could have included ONE, the last one with BOB not Five. It was almost a buyable DVD while I agree with the sentiment of many people who say that all of Bob's final week should not have been included, I'll still get the set. It can be very hard to find studio master quality episodes of TPIR from the '70's with perfect picture and sound, especially with the production slates and ticket plugs left in. As I stated earlier, I'll buy it for the Cullen shows alone. I agree with Jude86 --- I absolutely hated Bullseye I. As I stated earlier, I'll buy it for the Cullen shows alone. I agree with Jude86 --- I absolutely hated Bullseye I. I guess it would be nice to see nice quality of the first ep because I have the first ep from CBS is the quality is very rough which was not surprising since that was 36 years ago Jude The Obscure 03-27-2008, 10:53 PM So they have the very first ep of Price is Right with Barker on the DVD? Nope, because the first item up for bid was a fur coat! Any episode with fur as a prize shall NEVER see the light of day again as long as Bob is alive. BigErn 03-28-2008, 12:43 AM The only bonus that should be on there is HOW HE GOT THE JOB in 72 When do we get the bonus of how you got your job of providing useless "rants?" BigErn 03-28-2008, 12:52 AM  friendsfan77 03-28-2008, 12:54 AM While I completely disagree with Solomon when he says that should be the only bonus, it reminds me of something. There's a sales presentation out in the trading circuit with Dennis James and Mark Goodson pitching the nighttime version to local stations, it'd be so incredibly awesome if a similar type of thing was made and somehow found featuring Bob Barker or Tom Kennedy and Mark, and it was included in a future DVD bonus. I don't think such a thing exists but if it did, I think it'd be cool to see. TVFactFan 03-28-2008, 06:57 PM When do we get the bonus of how you got your job of providing useless "rants?" I can send you a email and talk to you about it Heidi Dawn 03-29-2008, 05:04 PM Well, I enjoyed watching all of the 1970's episodes of TPIR on DVD. I'm pretty sure BCI is saving the late 1970's-1980's episodes for a future volume. |
