"L" for "library" ... where Cathy is always hanging out. And thus, missing out on some fun that Patty is always planning. But Cathy's busy there at the library, increasing her brain power in preparation for her eventual takeover of the earth. Or, perhaps just studying for upcoming tests. One or the other.

"M" = Movies. Patty enjoys taking in a movie quite often. High-quality pictures like "Seven Empty Coffins", "The Mechanical Werewolf" or "The Creature That Swallowed The Earth"...:rolleyes:

"N" for "newspaper game" ... it's the field of work for both Patty's father and Uncle Kenneth, but Patty herself winds up dabbling in it too. Such as in the episodes where she turns the school paper into a sensationalized rag, or the time she writes the 'Simon Says' column.

O=obnoxious=Ross, to Patty sometimes

"P" for "Poppo" ... hard to imagine, especially after ten rounds of this, but no one has managed to cover "Poppo" for the letter-P yet. How have we been so remiss?

Q = Quickly. Patty's plans often go awry quickly.

"R" for "Rock" ... the name of the high-school football star (played by a young Daniel J. Travanty) who gets a crush on Cathy. Proving he was a man of impecable good taste.

"V" for "villainess" .... we can't have Patty's life run too smoothly; she needs the occasional adversity to overcome. And the prime instigator in providing this adversity? None other than a 'villainess' in the form of Sue Ellen, who's always more than ready to throw a monkey-wrench Patty's way.

W=Wonderful mom Natalie

"X" for "X marks the spot" .... the spot being the Lane house, deemed a historical site by the Brooklyn Heights Historical Society, which ultimately presents some big problems for Martin and family.

"Z" for "zany" .... some of Patty's misadventures veer off into zany territory at times. None moreso than the time she's in the hospital to get her tonsils out, and winds up disguising herself as a nurse!

A = Animals. A few times, animals played a part in The Patty Duke Show's stories, like the dog that Patty babysat who had to have Poppo sing "Rock-a-bye Baby" to him or he'd "have a nervous breakdown", or the kittens that Ross and Patty bought from little Ralphie.

B=Boyfriend (Patty's) Richard

"C" for "crepe suzette" ... another one of them thingies that Cathy 'just adores' according to the peppy theme-song!

D = "Drama". Patty's life is full of self-created drama.

"E" for "ego" .... quite often Patty's expansive ego gets the best of her. The episode "Can Do Patty" provides but one example of this.

F = Fun. Watching The Patty Duke Show is always fun. :)

"G" for "Grant, Alberta" ... the name of the actress who played Patty's bright-eyed school chum, Maggie. At least, in the first two seasons.

H=Hamilton, Margaret who played the maid in a few (some) eps

"I" for "I'm Henry the VIII, I Am" .... Patty (as Cathy) takes on the Herman's Hermits hit, and wows the crowd, in the third-season episode "Partying is Such Sweet Sorrow."

J = Jukebox. There HAS to be a jukebox at the "Shake Shop" playing the records Patty and her friends dance to (or just listen to while eating ice cream and discussing this week's episode's plot points), but to my knowledge, we never see it. :confused:

K=Kept after school=Patty sometimes, for her wild antics

"L" for "longiddyoso" .... which is Pattyspeak for "so long." Patty speaks in strange tongues at times, creating a need for the Pattyspeak-to-English Translation Dictionary.

M=Martin Lane

"N" for "neighborhood" .... Patty's Brooklyn Heights neighborhood undergoes a mysterious, Twilight Zone-ish transformation between 2nd and 3rd seasons. The Lanes even get a front lawn! Spooky doings.

O=Overbearing=Aunt Paulina

P = Patty. The most obvious answer I could have thought of. I'm not even trying this time...:rolleyes:

"Q" for "quip" ... most of Ross' dialogue consists of quips. He always has a quip ready and aimed at Patty, his parents, or life in general.

R= Ross

"S" for "Sidney Sheldon" ... two s's for the price of one, and the gent responsible for concocting most of what we see on TPDS! Certainly can't neglect him in this A-to-Z lineup.

T=Tests=Patty's Achille's Heel but Cathy's forte

U = United Artists Television, without whom there wouldn't have been The Patty Duke Show to base a never-ending ABC game on. :crazy:

"V" for "vanity press" ... when Patty writes her great novel, "I Was a Teen-Age Teenager," she gets a vanity press to publish it, unaware of the cost.

W=Wacky schemes of Patty

"X" for "eXperiment" .... Patty's school experiment with guinea pigs teaches her a bit about genetics in "Don't Monkey With Mendel," but only after she allows it to disrupt her relationship with Richard.

Y=Yearning to date Patty=The basketball jock in the next-to-last ep of the series.

"Z" for "zodiac" .... when Patty gets on her (for profit) fortune-telling kick, reading horoscopes and such, she checks out a slew of books and material from the library, which most assuredly included the zodiac chart, correct?

A=Aron Kincaid, the actor who played the hulky basketball player with a big crush on Patty.

"B" for "Breck" .... the original sponsor for "The Patty Duke Show," advertising its line of shampoo and hairspray products. And who could ask for more fetching spokesladies than Patty and Cathy?

C = Cathy (and not K for "Kathy", as I have seen it spelled a few times elsewhere). "Meet Cathy, who's lived most everywhere, from Zanzibar to Barclay Square..." (Barclay Square is a public square and park in the city of Tartu, Estonia, adjacent to the Ülikooli street. It is named after Michael Andreas Barclay de Tolly and there is a large monument in the park honoring him.)

D=Demerits akimbo @ Patty & Cathy's h.s. when they both played teacher.

"E" for "end of the line" .... the last episode (a rerun) of "The Patty Duke Show" airing on ABC's primetime lineup, according to the Brooks-Marsh book on television, was on August 31, 1966. The following week, the time-slot was taken over by the first-half of "The Monroes."

F = French cuisine. When her boyfriend Richard goes from glutton to gourmand, Patty seeks to win him back by attempting to learn to cook French cuisine (instead of her usual "crummy hamburgers").

G=Grouch=J.R. Castle, sometimes

"H" for "height"... Ross always threatens to Patty, just wait until he's "six inches taller!" Yep, no one will be pushing him around then, by golly!

I=Intelligent=Cathy

"J" for "jealousy" .... um, maybe not the nicest thing to bring up, but sometimes jealousy gets the best of Patty, as seen in episodes like "The Little Dictator," "Patty and the Cut-Rate Casanova," and "My Cousin the Heroine," all of which showed Patty becoming jealous of Cathy for various reasons.

"M" = Music. Both Patty and Cathy have a love of (and talent for) music...Cathy enjoys classical and opera and plays piano, and Patty likes rock 'n' roll and folk singing, and plays guitar (but is a horrid tuba player).

"N" for "nineteen-sixty-six" ... 1966, the final year that TPDS was on the air, ending its three-season run. Lots of shows ended that year, like "Ozzie and Harriet," "Perry Mason," "Donna Reed Show," "Hazel," "My Favorite Martian," and such.

"P" for "Peace Corps" ... it's a testament to Patty's good heart that she wanted to join the Peace Corps, but I hate to think the ensuing chaos that might have been inflicted on some poor country had she managed to enlist her services!

"T" for "TWA Airlines" .... huh? yep, it's a TWA airplane that brings Cathy to America, as seen in the pilot episode "The Cousins." Sure, it's just a stock 'film shot' that William Asher probably found somewhere, but to be a rabid TPDS fan, such goofy minutea cannot be overlooked, can it?

U=Underhanded=Pesky little brother (snoop) Ross, sometimes

"V" for "versus" .... a good many plotlines revolve around this dynamic, like Patty vs. Ross, or Patty vs. Sue Ellen, and such. Not to mention, Patty vs. Cathy, as in situation when they compete for something, like class president or a drama-club role.

"X" for "eXceptional mind"... which is what Cathy obviously possesses. Proof? Don't take my word for it, look at her report cards.

"Z" for "zest for success" ... which is what compells Patty, whether in extracuricular endeavors or wacky business schemes. She goes all-out for a win, whatever she attempts!

D = Dressmaking. Cathy was skilled at dressmaking, even designing her own "Catnip" dress which Patty proceeded to turn into another of her "kooky schemes" to earn money.

"E" for "Estelle Parsons" ... who made one of her very, very first TV appearances as a potential customer to whom Patty and Cathy try selling that acursed vacuum-cleaner to.
