Rocker Eddie Van Halen and actress Valerie Bertinelli are officially divorced. The couple, who wed in 1981, are no longer husband and wife, according to court papers filed in Los Angeles.

The legal documents, released on Friday, read: "The parties have resolved all their issues amicably in mediation. Neither spouse shall take unfair advantage of the other spouse."

Bertinelli originally filed for divorce in December 2005.

The couple has a son, 16-year-old Wolfgang, who is currently on the road with his father's reunited band, Van Halen, having replaced original bassist Michael Anthony.

I remember when they hooked up, I thought, "OH MY GOD, it won't last." Well they proved me and others wrong for a very very long time.

Actually, you could not be father from the truth. Even though Eddie has developed a massive ego over the last decade, for a long time he was a really down-to-earth guy.

I've found this split VERY sad all along. I wasn't sure if it would last, but once it was obvious it would I thought they must have been great together. Just goes to show you....
lol - I always thought they looked more like brother and sister when they had the same haircut than husband and wife.
From what I understand, it basically was his drinking - not womanizing that did it in.

As for Wolfgang, he's doing fine - currently touring with his dad. Apparently they worked out custody stuff with him years ago. It's only been when Eddie fell off the wagon again that Valerie had an issue.

The guy that Valerie has been with for five years is great looking (as Eddie once was) and apparently it's a very deep relationship. She said basically like a marriage, it's just she not ready to go down that path again soon.
