View Full Version : What are your Christmas Eve and Christmas Day plans? Janice 12-21-2007, 06:49 PM We're staying home on Christmas Eve. We're spending Christmas day with my Aunt and Uncle, and a couple of their kids. It's a very low-key Christmas this year. *ClassicPinUp* 12-21-2007, 07:01 PM Christmas Eve we're having some family over and just having a bunch of hors devours type things. Early Christmas morning we're flying (love flying!) to New York to spend a week with my sister, brother-in-law and niece. We were all suppose to be together but my brother and his family can't make it. I use to love when they lived in New York so we could all be together (they moved to NC two years ago.) I'm sooooooo glad to be seeing my sis though :D And my dad's ex wife (sister and brother's mom) lives right next door so that's always a fun thing   AKA 12-21-2007, 07:03 PM I'm flying to Spokane on Sunday. That's all I know. Everything else is up to my folks. EmoJoe 12-21-2007, 07:09 PM Christmas Eve i'm going to a friend of the family's house. Christmas Day my aunt, uncle, and cousins are coming over :D *Pleasant Tomorrow* 12-21-2007, 07:11 PM mom's family on Christmas Eve at my aunts, dad's family on Christmas day at my aunts...both will consist of large amounts of people and too much for them all to drink tv star collector 12-21-2007, 07:38 PM I'll spend Christmas Eve with my dachshund and give her her present (a peanut butter flavored chew bone). I have to work at the motel on Christmas Day. AB 12-21-2007, 07:41 PM Christmas eve we spend with my mom and brother & sister and their families and also my uncle & his wife. Then Christmas Day I always make a big breakfast around 10 am after we open presents. Then we'll go next door to my husband's brothers house and see what the kids got for christmas. Then later we'll go over to see my husband's sister & family. Ireneparalegal 12-21-2007, 07:57 PM Ok, these are my plans for Christmas Eve: Having some champagne with orange juice and just relaxing, however, my youngest daughter doesn't know yet if she has to work that day or in the night, if so, I have to drive her and pick her up. My plan is to get the turkey ready around 4 a.m. and have it in the oven early enough so that it is ready to eat by noon. I am making two turkeys. The second one I will get it in the oven by 11 a.m. and have that one ready for the early evening so when family comes over, I won't be so overwhelmed trying to have two turkeys ready on time. Christmas is my eldest daughter's birthday (her 24th) and we will celebrate by having a cake and ice cream after turkey dinner. This is our tradition. *ClassicPinUp* 12-21-2007, 08:48 PM Ok, these are my plans for Christmas Eve: Having some champagne with orange juice and just relaxing Mimosa!!!!!!! If that's what your talking about I LOVE those! Perfect blend :p Brieannas21 12-21-2007, 08:57 PM Christmas Eve my husband and I spend at our house alone with the kids. Christmas day we go over to my parent’s house that afternoon with my side of the family. Then that evening we go over to my husband’s grandmas and spend the evening with his family. PZelda 12-21-2007, 08:57 PM I have absolutely no idea. I know, surprising, right? Last year for Christmas, I went out of town. Not this year... I work thru Christmas Eve morning, so the earliest I'll want to do anything in the day will be around dinnertime. I'm probably going to my maternal grandma's house and we're probably ordering out for pizza- been doing that since my grandpa died in '97. So that will be the 11th Christmas we've been doing that. As far as I know, my sis isn't going to have time off from work until sometime in January. I don't even know about my brother - don't think he'll be making it down here to see us at all. :-/ I'll probably spend Christmas Day at home... my dad will be out of town until the 27th, so whatever. (can you tell I really don't care about Christmas this year?) Number 9 Dream 12-21-2007, 09:29 PM I'm not really too excited about the holidays this year either...it'll be the first Christmas where my family is completely split up (parents are separated..Mom won't go any where near my Dad). So....Christmas Eve is probably just a light dinner. Maybe fast food of some sort (we've done Chinese in the past, so maybe that's what we'll do this year). I'll be with my friend most of the day, so dinner time will be when I spend it with my family. Christmas day we're opening presents in the morning, then I'm heading to my Mom's house to see her for a bit with my brothers. Christmas dinner is at my Grandma's house (which is where I'm living now). Lee 12-21-2007, 09:39 PM We will be at Cracker Barrel in Parkersburg for our annual Christmas Eve brunch and then that night we will have our annual Christmas Eve feast, then on Christmas Day we will have a Christmas dinner featuring Ham, Au Gratin Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Cranberry Salad and Cheesecake with an almond topping. This Christmas will be our first Christmas without my mother-she is down in Tennessee taking care of her mother, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease and is undergoing treatment for Malignant Melanoma. Ireneparalegal 12-21-2007, 10:03 PM Mimosa!!!!!!! If that's what your talking about I LOVE those! Perfect blend :p YES! I forgot the name. Thank you for the reminder. Deeeeelicious way to relax at home. ;) Chad22 12-21-2007, 10:08 PM Christmas Eve we'll be opening presents and eating Chinese food. Then Christmas day we usually go to my Grandmother's to eat. LuLu Rogers 12-21-2007, 10:18 PM We're staying home on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning is at my house, Lunch with my Dad's family and Supper with my Mom's family. A very busy day, lol. freshprinceofLA 12-21-2007, 11:47 PM We are going over to my old neighborhood Palmdale, CA where my cousin now lives we're gonna celebrate XMAS/XMAS EVE there we are gonna open presents at 12 am dawsongirl 12-22-2007, 01:14 AM Christmas Eve with Dad's side...what's left of it anyway. x_x Christmas at home. I have this thing about having people there Christmas morning...I don't want them. It's always just been me, my dad, and my mom, and with the exception of my boyfriend (if he's ever here), I want to keep it that way. catlover79 12-22-2007, 01:33 AM I'm not really sure what we're doing. Nothing big...later on today my sister is throwing a family gathering at her house. I have to work on Christmas Eve and will probably drive right from there to church. My sister, brother-in-law and nephew will most likely come over to our house on Christmas Day. It should be fun. :D friendsfan77 12-22-2007, 01:45 AM Christmas Eve I'll be at home, but on Christmas Day my mother and I are going to my uncle's house and spend the holiday with the family. treky 12-22-2007, 03:23 AM Christmas eve, it's just me and my brother. He'll probably be baking cookies; and I'm probably going to watch my DVDs of the two ALL-TIME BEST film versions of "A CHRISTMAS CAROL"-the 1951 black and white version w/Allistair Sim, and the 1999 TV movie w/Patrick Stewart. We were going to go to church with my parents, but he's working that day, and so's my father (he's 84 and he works at a hardware store 2 days a week!) and he dosen't get off until 5 (unless his boss lets him go home early; which I'm sure he will) and my brother gets off at 5 also, but doesn't get home till 5:30, and it takes a half hour for the two of us to get to my parents, so the 6 of us (my two sisters also) will go to church on Christmas day, instead. Then, my brother and me may stay and have dinner with them. Then on Christmas day, we're all going over to my brother and sister-in-laws house, and my other sister and her husband and kids will come over, and my other sister, her husband and their two kids are driving down that day, and my mother-in-law will also be there, and we'll open the presents and have a big dinner and celebrate my sister-in-laws b'day and her mothers (there b'days are the 22nd and 23rd. No one in the family knew about my mother-in-laws, until 2 years ago and she's been celebrating Christmas with us for 7 years now! And she and her daughter NEVER mentioned it! ) Then we'll all break up; probably; around seven since my brother, sister, and brother-in-law have to go to work the next day. Janice 12-22-2007, 04:12 AM This Christmas will be our first Christmas without my mother-she is down in Tennessee taking care of her mother, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease and is undergoing treatment for Malignant Melanoma. I'm very sorry to hear this distresing news, Lee. My prayers to your grandmother, and for your family. When illness strikes a family member, the entire family is often affected. I hope you're able to enjoy your Christmas, as best you can. bandito 12-22-2007, 11:39 AM Christmas Eve were having at our house, with family and freinds stopping by. Christmas Day, heading to my Sister inlaws. Brian Damage 12-22-2007, 12:11 PM Christmas Eve will be spent with my folks. My grandmother flew in from Florida and my brother and my two nephews are coming. (That in itself is a great Christmas gift) On Christmas day, we are going to my in-laws as we usually do. OH Nuts! 12-22-2007, 01:01 PM Either XMAS day or XMAS eve I'm going to visit a sick friend in the hospital. waichingliu81 12-22-2007, 01:38 PM christmas eve: probably stay at home christmas day: celebrating xmas with my family, having xmas dinner with a couple of my sister and brother's friends coming over, plus its my younger sister's birthday too. and so she gets birthday and xmas presents Czas na Zywiec 12-22-2007, 02:17 PM Working. I don't live near any family and certainly can't cook a 12 course meal myself so Christmas is a no go this year. Brian 12-22-2007, 04:06 PM My family is going to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. It'll be my parents, me, two of my sisters, and my sister's boyfriend. We're celebrating on Christmas Eve because my oldest sister is leaving for Washington on Christmas day. Two of my other sisters won't even be down here. On Christmas, we're hoping to see "The Bucket List" if it plays here in San Diego. My parents and I really want to see that movie. dawsongirl 12-22-2007, 08:51 PM Working. No friends to hang with either? :( swedeace 12-23-2007, 01:06 PM * Christmas Eve: Christmas in my family really is on the night of Christmas Eve, so tomorrow's our actual Christmas gathering. We're having family and some friends over to have dinner at an aunt's house to pray to the baby Jesus (an authentic Mexican tradition), lots of food, gathering, and then opening gifts. That'll be later in the evening at about 8 p.m. or so. At 5:00 p.m., a friend invited me to spend some time eating food and gathering around with her family. I will be going over to my friend's. Then, I'm heading out to my aunt's. * Christmas Day: Not sure yet. It depends which (or, if any) relatives will invite us over for a Christmas Day dinner or get-together. Otherwise, I am going to attend a mid-day holiday party event at a friend's house from 2-5 p.m. I'll end up squeezing the holiday party if I am invited to another family's house later that day. The Cracker Barrel Rueben Sandwich features shaved Corned Beef and Sauerkraut with Swiss Cheese and Thousand Island Dressing on their Sourdough Rye Bread-it is wonderful! Mr. Television 12-24-2007, 06:32 PM I'll be going over to my sister's house in a couple hours for a family get-together. I flew up here yesterday, and I'll be here until January 5. I'm staying with my parents and having a great time so far. We went to Christmas Eve (Eve) service yesterday, and it was wonderful. It made me realize why I miss my home church in Spokane so much. My mom worked today, so I spent some quality time with my dad until my mom got home, at which point, we ate dinner and watched The Santa Clause 3. It's been a genuinely lazy Christmas Eve. The kind I like. Tomorrow is presents, dinner, and an open book other than that. We usually are spontaneous on Christmas, so anything can happen. We're keeping it low-key this year, though. |
