View Full Version : Susan Neher
Does anyone know what became of the little girl "Susan Neher" who played Joanie in this particular episode?

Wanna bet?
oldfriend 09-11-2003, 11:09 PM yep.
Zoneboy 09-19-2003, 07:30 PM I must apologize for my error. Oldfriend is correct, She isn't Bobby Sherman's sister. I had read that in an old issue of Tiger Beat & I later found out that she played his sister in Getting Together. I would read it again to see what I missed but I sold that issue on ebay.
oldfriend 09-22-2003, 12:14 PM Apology accepted!
She was my first girlfriend.
We met in 2nd grade and 'dated' in 6th and 7th!
I've no idea where she is now.
Cheers.

DTruxaw 06-16-2011, 07:39 AM I believe Susan attended Immaculate Heart College in Hollywood in the late 1970s.
BJBear86 05-19-2015, 07:55 PM For those of us who've long wondered whatever became of Susan Neher (she goes by Suzanna these days), this newsletter article from August 2014 offers a brief mention of her child acting career and a picture

jehobden 06-01-2015, 07:07 PM She also played the middle daughter of 3 in John Forsythe's 1969-71 CBS sitcom, To Rome with Love, which got her on the cover of TV Guide with John Forsythe and her "sisters" for the June 20, 1970 issue:

She has very short hair in the cover picture.
paul.austin 05-13-2017, 03:09 PM She was also Lana in an episode of Family Affair. Lana apparently went to hairdressing school at her tender age, given how professionally and elaborately she styles Buffy's hair.
biffbronson 08-03-2018, 09:19 PM Hairstyling disaster. What was worse than the styling was that Buffy actually liked it...!
I'm working on the In Memoriam post for tomorrow's blog. I saw her listed on the 2022 deaths list.
Susan Neher, 63, American actress (To Rome with Love, Getting Together)
Neher died in Salem, Oregon on August 2, 2022, at the age of 63.

paul.austin 12-29-2022, 10:59 PM I sometimes wonder what a Joanie in the main "Happy Days" show that was still played by Susan would have been like?
Certainly, played and scripted differently to Erin's.
There would have been four redheads in the Cunningham family.
Marion Ross
Ron Howard
Gavan O'Herlihy

paul.austin 12-30-2022, 02:42 AM FA's Buffy Davis channeling Roy Orbison: "Lana! My beautiful Lana!"
If Anissa and Sebby had lived, a 1980s in-character FA TVM might have brought back Lana/Susan.
biffbronson 12-30-2022, 07:18 AM I'm sorry to learn of her untimely passing. R.I.P. Susan.

Susan was just 63, so we must presume cancer or a heart attack.

I'm still trying to figure out how I missed this one.
Zoneboy 12-31-2022, 01:29 AM Susan was just 63, so we must presume cancer or a heart attack.
Not necessarily, there are many things that could've caused her death. However I certainly wouldn't rule them out.
paul.austin 12-31-2022, 07:00 PM I think, had she made it to the main series, Susan's Joanie would have been scripted and performed differently to what we got in real history.
Susan was more of a normal beauty than Erin. Erin's looks would also be badly affected as the series entered its final years by tobacco and booze (which of course also caused the cancer that killed her in 2017).
