View Full Version : Guys, why does it seem like when you are on a first date you are being TESTED by the
TVFactFan 12-02-2007, 03:00 PM WAITER???-lol It's like Your date and the Waiter is giving you the gentleman test and he seems to come to the table A LOT MORE than he would if you were out with your family-lol
Last night I'm out on a date with the most beautiful women in the city of Philadelphia under 35 and the Waiter just keep coming to the table asking if we are ok, INTERRUPTING Me while I was telling her how beautful she was and striking up a conversation with my date. I was like-"I KNOW I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS BECAUSE FIRST IMPRESSIONS LAST FOREVER but I was so close to losing it
Any other guys feel WAITERS are more ANNOYING on purpose when you are out on a first date?-lol
Max Whittaker 12-02-2007, 03:20 PM He probably wanted a tip. He's probably trying to pay for college.

Yeah but his agressiveness for a TIP interfere with me trying to work my MAGIC on the date-lol I was telling her how beautful her eyes was and he says-"ARE YALL OK?? I am glad she said-"Ok now you what were you saying about my eyes?
lol

Coming over once is OK but multiple times? Yes your irritation is justified. A good waiter does not interrupt diners continuously--was there any reason he kept doing this. Were you there long time & the place very busy? Something else? If not, then he is just not an astute waiter. Usually asking for the check the 2nd time ends this and letting them know when they bring it you will take it to the cashier yourself and pay it--so he doesn't come over a 3rd time.

He was attracted to my date probably-lol I did think it was ODD to constantly come over and say-"Is Everything oK??
Ireneparalegal 12-02-2007, 04:22 PM Hey, you said you never compliment a woman when you are out eating. Did you break your own rule?
TVFactFan 12-02-2007, 04:31 PM Hey, you said you never compliment a woman when you are out eating. Did you break your own rule?
Yes I did-lol

Probably didn't care whether you were on your first date.
So all the more reason he should have been able to "read" the situation and the body language and LEAVE DA MAN ALONE!! ;)
Seriously - I used to wait tables in my early twenties and the best tip I ever got was because I left the couple alone and even made sure tables around them were left vacant (we weren't that busy at the time anyway). Funny - I swear they were having some sort of affair - she was something else and he's all flashy with the cream suit and all. He ordered our finest cognac - I think it was something like $60 a bottle back then (1980) and then tipped me $20. I got the hint real quick! hehe I think I only approached when she got up to go to the washroom and asked if there was anything else.
That was a dumbass waiter!
Hope you get a second date! You old smoothie you! ;)

Well, the thing is, the guy didn't know it was your first date. If he was psychic, he sure as hell wouldn't be a waiter. He knows you were there as a couple, therefore, he figures you want to spend money and look good. You don't want to look like a tight-wad in front of your date. ;)

It sounds to me as if Solomon got a haunt for a waiter. We've all had them. Then, there's the ones who want to befriend you, yack, yack, yack. Take a hike, I'm here to eat and enjoy my honey's company. Usually though, I have to send up a flare to get my waiter's attention.

That's right, we had this conversation before Irene! Our guys are yackheads! Remember I told you that story, when we went to The Gateway Store to buy a computer. My husband and the salesman started talking about the carpet install business, since my husband owned a business. They started in with the name game. Do you know this this guy, that guy? At the register, I gave Lou a side kick in the leg to SHUT HIM UP! Those fools almost cost me a $150 rebate, which I finally got, but the salesguy's attention was not on my big purchase.

junecleaver 12-03-2007, 04:00 PM Whether you're on a date or not it is really annoying. There almost seems to not be an in between waiter, always a disappearing one or a waiter who pretty much watches you eat. There is a chinese buffet in my city that i quit going to because of this, the waiters are rude and they have a pack of waiters literally standing and observing the restaurant. Everytime i would finish a plate, she would be right there picking it up, in a rude manner too. And this buffet has crab legs, which they charge extra for, and the waiter immediately will charge you for that, i can see them writing it down lol. Yep, thats why we quit going.

Yeah, I seen that too in this one chinese buffet. One time experience. No more. I'd rather go to a chinese RESTAURANT. And not the kind that keeps you waiting for 20 minutes (a la Seinfeld).
