That scene was meant to be serious but James is just FUNNY when he was upset. LOL

I can't see that scene being played out and having no one laugh at it. It was better to hear the audience laugh rather than say, "right on" and applause. He was funny and the line is funny.

That's what you call reminding someone of what they STILL HAVE. Although her smile as she said it was annoying to me. I can see if she said, "Well, it's not like you don't have a job. Some people don't even have that."

$500 a week in the 70's was A LOT OF MONEY!!! But that was also a hard job to do. She said it because having Bradys was better than NOT having a job at all. Especially living poorly like they did. It wasn't easy to get a job, obviously from what we seen on the show, so James was damn lucky to have what he had.

BUT HE WOULD HAVE HAD IT BETTER...LOTS BETTER HAD HE GONE TO ALASKA DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!

Florida was known for HIGHLIGHTING the SH*T side of everything-lol Just like when James didn't get the Job in the 1st ep and he was saying the family could have benefited from that job and that they were BROKE. Which led to the pitiful interaction between james and Florida below

Florida: What was we yersterday

James: BROKE

Florida: And we will probably be Broke again tomorrow

Oh yeah, here was another "highlight" from Florida, this time to Thelma after she turned down that FREE COLLEGE OFFER:

"You can still go to college right here in Chicago."

Okay. Yeah, just go to a local college and forget FREE COLLEGE.

She didn't exactly say LIVING OUTSIDE but was telling J.J don't feel bad about getting us evicted for telling off fred davis because you stood up to him the way james would have and I'm so proud-lol

All that was before she KNEW that they were not oing to get thrown out. she was a ODD woman

It was not a smart statement to make since like you said, she wasn't even sure as to what may happen. Why say anything to make someone feel worse when you don't even have all the facts yet? Bad enough she made her family suffer because of her good heart, now, she had to say weird things on top of that?

Yeah because the first thing J.J said was-"I'm sorry Mom I had to do it" And you would expect her to say-"Yes, your stupidity has put us on the street" what the hell was you thinking?

Whehn she asked James why would he be smiling about fixing Bookman's TV after James gave bookman the TV with a SMILE-lol She wasn't smart enough to know that it was something obviously wrong with the TV for James to give it to him with a SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-LOL

Those are the kind of statements that actors say to build up to something that needs to be said for "filler time" or to set up a funny line, which I don't like. Like we the viewers aren't smart enough to figure that out. James smiling was enough for the audience and viewers to know that something "wasn't right". That would have made it even funnier.
