View Full Version : Drew Carey Show New Years Eve Marathon on ION Television
ilovethe80s 11-21-2007, 10:48 PM I just saw a commercial on ION Television that they are going to have a marathon of The Drew Carey Show on New Years Eve December 31. I don't know if it was too early to post about it and let people know. Pavanbadal will probably post more information when he learns more about it. I apoligize if it was too early to post about it but I already saw the commercial for it and probably a lot of other people did too.
Pavan 11-22-2007, 12:30 AM Interesting...no wonder they didn't send out grids yet for Dec. 24 and 31. As long as they aired a promo, it is safe to talk about it. It will join the line-up in January...details will come out shortly. Thanks for posting!
Ireneparalegal 11-22-2007, 01:54 AM WHOO HOO... How much more good news can you guys possibly give me? Is this my early Christmas present or what? First ALICE, then a double dose of ALICE on ION, the KTLA marathon and now this???? OMG I AM SO DAMN HAPPY!!!! :jig:
Scoobiedoo30 11-23-2007, 01:02 PM I saw the commercial for Drew Carey Show The Question is Drew Carey an Sony Show
So when do you all think it'll air? My money's on Mon-Thurs, 9-10PM.
Scoobiedoo30 11-23-2007, 02:46 PM all I know is that it is a Drew Carey New Year's Marathronwitch by the way start's at 6:00 pm Central Time
JulieSomoski 11-23-2007, 03:59 PM Wow, this network really is looking up. I can't believe this show is actually coming (unless they're only aiirng it for a day-LOL). I neverw ould have expected DC to come, because it's kind of too new for the network (IMO) but who cares?
I hope they don't air it at 9pm, because I've really been enjoying WTB there. I'd like to see them air it at 10pm, but I'd doubt it. Maybe at 9:30?
Pavan 11-23-2007, 04:22 PM 9-10pm would work better. Who's the Boss? would be better 7-8pm. Mama's Family usually does a 0.7 or 0.8 rating and Who's the Boss? drops from that to like 0.4 or 0.5 most weeks. Drew Carey should muster more than that.
This is sort of off topic, but Roseanne remember they have some stuff like The Wayans Bros. too, so I wonder if that could be coming soon.
I look for it to air 9-10 and WTB be gone....I don't really see them messing with 6-8 just yet, but maybe I'm wrong.
TVJunkie101 11-23-2007, 11:12 PM I agree. I see Drew Carey replacing Who's The Boss? :(
thetornado 11-24-2007, 03:36 AM I'm glad Its coming back to TV Just think the Drew Carey then to the Drew Carey now!
Considering how ION does things, WTB? has had a good, long run. Much better than most of the other shows did, and it has a good, consistent time slot. It's been treated much better than Alice, Growing Pains, Green Acres, Charlie's Angels, etc.
JulieSomoski 11-24-2007, 03:25 PM 9-10pm would work better. Who's the Boss? would be better 7-8pm. Mama's Family usually does a 0.7 or 0.8 rating and Who's the Boss? drops from that to like 0.4 or 0.5 most weeks. Drew Carey should muster more than that.
By January I could see them airing WTB at 7 and 7:30, then Amen and Alice 6 and 6:30.
Why does Mama's Family do so well? I don't understand what people like so much about that show that lets it do so well every single night.
Scoobiedoo30 11-24-2007, 03:53 PM So you think Who's The Boss?will move to 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm Central Time and Amen at 5:00 pm Central Time and Alice at 5:30 pm Central Time
bingbangbaby 11-24-2007, 04:03 PM Why does Mama's Family do so well? I don't understand what people like so much about that show that lets it do so well every single night.
All the ion network executives, employees, and their families stop whatever they're doing and gather together to watch it every night?
JulieSomoski 11-25-2007, 07:55 PM All the ion network executives, employees, and their families stop whatever they're doing and gather together to watch it every night?
That's a very high possibility-LOL. The show was in syndication, first of all, didn't sell too hottly on DVD, so why is it doing so damn well on this network?
JulieSomoski 11-25-2007, 07:59 PM So you think Who's The Boss?will move to 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm Central Time and Amen at 5:00 pm Central Time and Alice at 5:30 pm Central Time
Exactly. Either that, or Amen stay at 6 and 6:30, Alice at 7, and WTB at 7:30
Pavan 11-27-2007, 05:18 PM ION Television Secures Rights to Sitcom Favorite “The Drew Carey Show” From Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution
Network to Launch Emmy-Nominated Series in Primetime with a “Drew Year’s Party” Marathon on New Year’s Eve
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- ION Media Networks, Inc. (AMEX:ION) announced today that it has obtained from Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution the rights to air the beloved, long-running sitcom, The Drew Carey Show. ION Television will launch the Emmy-nominated series with a New Year’s Eve marathon from 7:00-11:00 pm (ET), and then add it to the network’s weeknight primetime lineup New Year’s Day with airings Mondays through Thursdays at 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm (ET).
“The Drew Carey Show will bring a nice breath of fresh air to ION Television’s primetime lineup,” said Brandon Burgess, CEO, ION Media Networks. “It advances our plan to broaden our network’s appeal by targeting a contemporary audience with timeless humor and entertainment.”
“We are thrilled to be in business with ION and believe that their acquisition of The Drew Carey Show for their primetime lineup is a smart decision based upon the show’s proven ratings track record and the star power of Drew Carey, who is one of the most recognizable names in comedy today,” said Eric Frankel, President, Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution.
A long-running hit, The Drew Carey Show is one of only seven network sitcoms to last nine seasons on the air. Set in Cleveland, Ohio, the clever, fast-paced series depicts the plight of an average “everyman.” An overweight and over-worked protagonist whose love life is far from enviable, Drew is a sympathetic character that viewers have grown to love. Accompanied by his longtime friends, Kate O’Brien (Christa Miller), Oswald Lee Harvey (Diedrich Bader) and Lewis Michelangelo Kiniski (Ryan Stiles), he navigates the everyday struggles of life, relationships and success. Meanwhile, his workplace tribulations are heightened by his cosmetically-challenged arch nemesis, Mimi Bobeck (Kathy Kinney). Regardless of his less than glamorous lifestyle, Drew Carey certainly makes his audience realize that Cleveland does, indeed, Rock!
Beginning in January, Drew fans will be able to relive the fun of The Drew Carey Show on ION Television, and enjoy a whole new dimension of the series with contests, interactive experiences and special features.
Drew Carey continues to be hugely popular with television audiences and is one of the most recognizable comedians working today, ranking behind only Bill Cosby in the 2006 Q Score familiarity and appeal measurements. This season, he’s taken over the hosting duties of one of TV’s longest-running and most popular series ever, The Price Is Right, and he also hosts the new game show, The Power of 10. He’s won three People’s Choice Awards, and has been honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Drew Carey Show propelled not only its star to fame, but launched the careers of several other cast members, as well. Christa Miller, who played Drew’s spunky pal, Kate, has continued her brash comedy with a full-time role on Scrubs. Kate Walsh, a.k.a. Drew’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Nicki Fifer, moved on to land a major role on Grey’s Anatomy and now stars in Private Practice. And, Craig Ferguson, who played boss man Nigel Algernon Wick, has become the newest luminary of late-night TV. The show also featured many high-profile guests, from the favorites Dick Clark and Shirley Jones to the colorful Eugene Levy and “Weird Al” Yankovic to the Emmy-winning star of Entourage, Jeremy Piven.
From Mohawk Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television, The Drew Carey Show was created by Carey & Bruce Helford (George Lopez). Carey, Deborah Oppenheimer, Helford, Dave Caplan, Russ Woody and Dan O'Keefe are the executive producers.
JulieSomoski 11-27-2007, 05:58 PM Like we all thought, 9 and 9:30. Good to hear, and hopefully it'll benefit from the Mama's family lead-in. I just hope WTB remains somewhere on the schedule.
