I did not know none of that about Judge Judy

Sometimes The show does make up lawsuits.They did this in 1999 with The hollywood prostitute Divine Brown(She was caught with Hugh Grant).They aren't all real cases.The show follows absoloutley no state laws.Not even the arbitration law unless the litigants live in the state of California.She is not currently a real judge,She has no legal power.There's even a quote from her on imdb stating that the law is followed in her "Fake" courtroom than it is in an actual courtroom which isn't even near the truth I advise everyone to read the website that's in my signature and in the original post of my thread.She doesn't have experience with small claims court all she ever did as a judge was work with Juvenille delinquents(spelling) and familys.

I don't think anyone will bother to read that when it is plain and simple it is merely arbitration aka small claims court. She applies the laws according to the state in which the tort took place. Oh by the way, Tort means "civil wrong". Any judge who is retired can do arbitration for a tort case or even state cases such as divorce (celebs do this) or for matters such as workman's compensation cases, unemployment cases, etc. As long as both sides agree in a written statement, then it can continue, as it does for Judge Judy's cases. Each side signs an agreement that they know whatever she rules, IS BINDING.

I have a friend who appeared on People's Court (with the original judge, not the one that is there now) and he told me how they had to agree to let this RETIRED JUDGE be the one to decide their case, if they didn't sign the agreement, then they are free to have their cases heard in their area in small claims court. They find the people by going through the various small claims that are filed in various counties. They call them up (as they did with my friend) and asked him if he didn't mind his case being heard on People's Court. He obliged, sign the documents and won his case. He got his money and was not coached in any way. If anything, he was told to behave the way one is expected to behave in any courtroom, you respect and obey the judge and tell the truth.

It's all about entertainment, it's a reality show. But I do feel that alot of these litigants really do and say they things they do because their feelings are genuine and real, just like Judy is. And the fact that the litigants get paid is not news, everyone knows those courtroom shows pay the people to be on there...you know you have the risk of being humiliated so there has to be some sort of incentive. Your comments about her crack me up, because it's apparant you are obviously upset over how you were treated on national tv, and want to hurt her in any way you can. I went to your hate judy website and found it all interesting, but not true. She may be retired and yes, small claims is not family court. But alot of her cases do involve families. It does not matter, though, because I think she could do anything. It doesn't make her less a judge. She was chosen to do this small claims court reality show because she is so sharp minded and witty and producers knew it would draw an audience.
