One-time shirt for Lucy. I used to wear that on the softball field. With all her wonderful outfits, this one stands out as an odd choice!

Christmas tree in season one. Everyone puts their tree in the middle of the room!
130483
Christmas tree in season six. Where did all the furniture go? Good thing Lucy had the decorations at her fingertips in the hall closet!

coffield3 10-05-2007, 04:36 AM Great points and pictures.
Ireneparalegal 10-05-2007, 05:22 PM In season one we did see Lucy quite a bit wearing some scarf-type thingy on her hair. Something I am sure many housewives of that era can identify with. Who would want Lucy looking oh so glamourous and perfect...a la June Cleaver.
Also, that baseball t-shirt of Lucy's makes her seem so down home wearing that. Though, we won't see much of Lucy looking like that in the later seasons. I know that is the scene abt the new neighbors. I bet Lucy chose to wore that shirt so that she would be comfortable when dealing with posing as a chair.

What about the weird thing she's wearing in the first scene of "The Gossip"? It looks like a skirt from behind, but it's completely open in the front. She's already wearing slacks underneath, so it seems pointless. And I think it just looks strange. What is that?

I know of what you are referring to, I just don't know what they are called. I don't get that either. I mean, why wear something that is half a skirt and you are already wearing pants?
Wait, maybe it is to cover the tush area? I have to see the outfit to get an idea of how the pants are. Yoo hoo, Stacy, pic please??? ;)

You mean this thing? Even as a kid I thought it was weird. The outfit doesn't even seem to match! What was the point?

Ireneparalegal 10-05-2007, 07:20 PM Thanx for that pic. I was thinking right now maybe to cover up the tightness in the butt area, but that couldn't be it. Those types of pants were fashionable, no reason for her to cover the tush area.

Yes, yes, that's it! I thought maybe one of you women would know what that is and the purpose. I thought Lucy was so well dressed on the show, except for that. I frankly think it's ugly.

Nothing wrong with her tush, either. Well, we can be glad for one thing: she only wore it once!

Yes, be thankful for the small things in life.
BTW, she wore something similar in another episode. I can't for the life of me remember which episode(s) but she wears this lovely dress-like outfit and it too has pants with it, but the dress spreads out like a skirt and it doesn't completely cover the front. God, I am going bonkers trying to figure that episode/scene. I think it is from the magazine writer episode where the lady visits the Ricardos for the day and takes pics.

Yeah, let us know if it comes to you. I don't remember myself. I think her clothes looked pretty chic in the third season, and she wore big hoop earrings a lot that year, which I think looked good on her. Have you ever noticed in several episodes a little past halfway through the third season, she had a beauty mark on her face? It was odd because suddenly it was there, and there was no mention of it. It was just there. And then after a couple episodes, suddenly it was gone.

A beauty mark? Really? wow, I never noticed. Now I really have to look out for that.
Her wardrobe really did become more chic as the seasons passed. I really loved her outfits. I am really trying to think where I have seen that particular dress/outfit I referred to above. It is beautiful. She wore it around the house. I can see it in my head but can't pinpoint what episode...damnit!

I know what you mean! It was in my brain too! Is this the one? It was actually one of Eloise's most popular outfits, seen in 10 episodes.

Ireneparalegal 10-05-2007, 11:41 PM YES YES YES!!!!!! That's the one. I was right, it was in the magazine interview episode. Thank you Stacy!!!!!! I believe that was some sort of "lounging pajamas" type of outfit.

Rick is this what you were remembering? These are shots from "The Black Wig," toward the end of season three.

Oh my gosh, yes, that's what I'm talking about. You're amazing! I've been banging my head trying to remember which episode. I thought it was a couple episodes, actually, but I could be wrong.

Oh yes, I knew there was another time she wore that thingamajig. I desperately want to know what that is!!! Too bad I can't "copy" that pic and insert that into my search engine.

Oh no, I forgot about that! Help!!! omg:
TV Knowledge Fan 10-06-2007, 04:41 PM ...they insisted the stars [and supporting players] of their various series smoke on screen during the episode as much as possible. "I LOVE LUCY" was no exception. And, of course, Lucy and Desi plugged the brand at the end of every episode, also a sponsor tradition at the time.

It's definitely not very flattering. Maybe it's called a "scant". You know, like they call a short and skirt a "skort"?
Madame X 10-27-2007, 10:34 PM I came across another version of the pant/dress thingy. It is from the Palm Springs ep.

Ireneparalegal 10-27-2007, 10:37 PM At least that is pretty and flattering. It is something that looked good on her.

Yeah, I agree. That other one only covered her back side, completely exposing her pants in the front. At least this one comes all the way around to the front, and is also long, so it mostly covers her pants. It's still a strange garment, but not ugly like the other one.

As a matter of fact today they aired that episode with the black pants and I couldn't help but gawk at that outfit, it was horrendous. It didn't even seem to match. At least this one is one complete ensemble.

There you go, an ensemble. These clothes go together. The one from the first season, it looks like Lucy had been making a dress but hadn't finished. Only the backside was completed. But she decided to put it on anyway. But she still had to find some pants to put on since her front side was exposed. After she put on her pants, because she was taking so long to get dressed and was now running late, she grabbed the first shirt she could find -- a sweatshirt -- to cover her top.
