Well it was a sad song choice-lol Rezny@gmail.com 09-30-2007, 08:10 PM That's "Come And Get It," written in 1969 by Paul McCartney for the band Badfinger. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Come_and_Get_It_%28song%29Yes,it is.And the song in its original full-length version is very good. Here are the rest of the lyrics to the song:"Did I hear you say that there must be a catch. Will you walk away from a fool and his money..Sonny.."And if you think THAT's a cheesy commercial, the song they use in an even cheesier Luv's diaper(!)commercial,is the Beatles'l classic "All You Need Is Love"And I admit. The GMC truck ad IS cheesy. Badfinger was an awesome group. Yeah they were. Back when bands were something. :D  Back when music was great. What happened to bands? :( dawsongirl 10-01-2007, 12:20 AM Something tells me Solomon is a lot younger than we are, Ann  Heck, I know that song and I'm only in my 20s. NOVARick 10-01-2007, 12:36 AM Yeah they were. Back when bands were something. :D  Back when music was great. What happened to bands? :( Gosh, I don't know. I think it must have something to do with the music industry operates today. Music today seems so manufactured and phoney. One group or style hits big, then all the music people try to duplicate that same sound, so everything all winds up sounding the same. And the poor little bands out there never get a chance. If anyone out there wants to get a little nostalgic, here are links to some Badfinger classics. Such an amazing group! Brian Damage 10-01-2007, 01:12 AM  How did this topic turn into sort of bashing today's music? You have to understand, that conversations evolve. It is not against the rules, nor is it out of line. If you don't like the conversation, stay away. Chelsea 10-01-2007, 01:22 AM Thanks a lot Solomon for getting that song stuck in my head. Many different styles and so many great bands and songs. If you weren't born yet, ask your parents! OH Nuts! 10-02-2007, 09:56 PM LOL_Those are the lyrics to the new cheesy GMC Car commercial that's been playing all week and all day today. The stuff they come up with these days Heaven forbid someone doing a commercial should come up with something original. Well at least Paul McCartney will get some royalties out of it. (Maybe Badfinger too???) Rezny@gmail.com 10-02-2007, 10:39 PM And do you know what song they use to advertise for Viagra?Elvis Presley's classic "Viva Las Vegas".Sure,it's catchy("Viva Viagra"),but it's dumb. And for Target, they use The Beatles'"Hello, goodbye".Both songs "Hello ,goodbye" and "Viva Las Vegas" are both great songs,IN THEIR ORIGINAL FULL LENGTH FORM.It's too bad some people will only remember these(and so many other great songs)songs, only by their use in commercials. |
