For a man with only a high-school education, Charles certainly was exceptional.

Drug/Alcohol rehab counsellor: helped Albert get off morphine, helped John Stewart get off booze

Guidance counsellor: turned Peter Lundstrom's life around

Anger management counsellor: turned Todd Dortmunder's life around

Family counsellor: saved the Harper family from divorce and alcoholism

Brain trauma expert: helped James snap out of his coma

Orthopedic specialist: designed orthotics for Olga

Veterinarian: helped pull Fagin through his illness

Preacher: Reverend Alden's right-hand man

Classical musician: lived too far from the Chicago Symphony, so he had to settle on just fiddling around ;)

Let's not forget his talents at:

Being a cobbler (old fashioned name for shoe repairman), he fixed the girls' shoes, addes new soles to them, fixed them any way he could when they couldn't afford a new pair. Also, he fixed that special orthopedic shoe for the the girl who had one leg shorter than the other (played by Kim Richards).

Wagon fixer: How many times did he fix wagon wheels for people? He got two old wagon wheels, fixed them and painted them for Nels Olsen. Also, when Doc Baker broke down, along came Charles who happened to fix his wheel for him. Wow!

DIY (Do It Yourself) man: He made the home the Ingalls lived in for years.

Too bad he couldn't figure out the indoor plumbing thing! ;)

:brent That would have been nice. He should have just taken a look at the Olsen's home and see how theirs was.

Doctor: Charles aided Doc Baker at least two times when it came to some illness that creeped into town. Charles also pretended to be a doctor when those men invaded the blind school. He even treated that guy with the gunshot wound.

Didn't Charles also play a doctor when the James' brothers came into town?

Oh damn girlfriend, you came up with a good one! That reminds me, Charles also fixed that broken down used wheelchair for Nellie when she faked being paralyzed. Did you see Mrs. Olsen's face when Nellie first used it? She looked so disgusted at the sight.

I think he got the plans mixed up when he built his buildings. The barn turned out bigger than the house!

And also he was cleanup batter on the baseball team (the baseball cap barely fit over his Samson-like mane), and he did that woodchopping contest.

Charles was also the Hero Township representative in the Grange. He spoke for everyone in his area.

You know what, that crap annoyed me. Let me tell you why. The Ingalls' hadn't been residents very long. The people of Walnut Grove had been there many years before they ever arrived and yet, he was the representative for the Grange? Also, remember when they had the meeting for the corn crop, they did it at Charles' house. I know there are a few other instances where Charles was made the "leader" of things. Oh yeah, during the Larabee trial, he was appointed the jury leader and he was to choose the remaining jurors. He also spoke at church when Rev. Alden wasn't available. Gee, what else?

Really! I don't remember too many times where they voted on Charles' leadership. Lars Hanson founded the town, Nels Olesen had the most money, and Doc and Reverend Alden had more influence than Charles. Why in the hell was Charles so highly regarded? Maybe they were awed by his hair!

Amen! That had to be it.

Yet, when they needed supplies or $$$$, Nels and Harriet were the ones the town went to for help. Hmmmm....I wonder why???

These are hilarious! You know I've always wondered why they never added on another room to the house so that they had more bedrooms b/c from what I remember by the end of the series they had more kids, even though Laura and Mary were both married and living on their own.
