View Full Version : Funniest thing you ever saw on TV!
OH Nuts! 08-31-2007, 09:16 AM I know this is a hard one, cause I'm sure there's lots of contenders. But if you can, pick out one thing, one sketch, one impersonation, etc. that really stood out in your mind.
My fav is seeing John Goodman dressed up in drag as Linda Tripp on an Oprah parody on Saturday Night Live. IT WAS PRICELESS. You could really hear the audience laughing on that one. And Tim Meadows did a WICKED immitation of Oprah.
Close are: Gilda Radner as Emily Littela calling Jane Curtain a b**ch during a sketch, Gilda doing a take off sketch of Lucy ep "Switching Jobs" where she's spraying whipped cream and putting maraschino cherries on plutonium bombs. (SNL can be so twisted:lol:) And of course the real Lucy sketches themselves esp. The TV Commercial.
comedyfreak 08-31-2007, 09:38 AM I liked when The Rock, HHH were on SNL they looked like they had a great time.
The Lucy Eps were a scream Job Switching, TV Commercial, etc.
Granny fighting the Giant Jack Rabbit.
Phoebe on Friends arguing over the phone with an Englishwoman while trying to get into contact with the gang who were in England.
catlover79 08-31-2007, 10:05 AM My favorites (in no particular order):
- The Vitameatavegamin commercial (I Love Lucy)
- The Flying Turkeys newscast (WKRP)
- The old fashioned radio play (Frasier)
- The trip to the cabin with Daphne and Donny (Frasier)
- The entire "Speak the Truth" episode (Bewitched)
- Almost any episode of Barney Miller and Sanford & Son
- Every appearance of Lootin' Lenny (Good Times)
- The new microwave fan sucking up the cooking spaghetti! (Home Improvement) (Tim was the one who installed it - no surprise there)
Mikado 08-31-2007, 03:04 PM This little bit from Corner Gas made me laugh harder than I had in years, To set the scene, Brent's Dad Oscar has just had a fight with Wes, the man who owns the local beer store; forcing Oscar to take things in his own hands, and make his own beer (Which closely resembles swamp water).....he decides to let his house guests try it first:
(Brent and Lacey about to taste Oscar's homemade beer)
Lacey: " I left Toronto to get AWAY from the polution!"
Brent: "Geez Dad, did you mix this in a Skidoo Boot, or a crow's nest?"
Dad: "You sissy, it's like a Belgian beer!"
Brent: "Honest to God Dad, it tastes like you beat a skunk to death with a salmon!"
OMG that line makes me laugh
That episode of Taxi where Rev. Jim's taking the written driver's test always cracks me up. Plus a bunch of those that you guys have already listed are some really good ones too.
catlover79 08-31-2007, 04:03 PM ^ I forgot about Rev. Jim's driver's test!! "Whaaaaaaaaat doooooooooes a yelloooooooooooow liiiiiiiiiiiiight meaaaaaaaaaaaaan??" I'm surprised Jim got a driver's license - I wouldn't trust him on a tricycle!!
mrs.gingerhinkley 08-31-2007, 07:45 PM Obviously, the classics: Lucy Does a TV Commercial, Job Switching...

OMG, that scene is just about the most HILARIOUS scene in TV history. I cry laughing everytime I see it
Jim-What does the Yellow light mean? :brent
Yooch 08-31-2007, 11:41 PM Several years back, I saw two stand-up comedians on TV that made me laugh so hard, I started getting asthmatic:
One was Richard Lewis, I think his name was. The material was so funny to me.
The other comedian was a guy named Frankie Pace, a short, bald Danny Devito-ish type, and the guy was soooo funny. He contorted his face into so many shapes and expressions, which, along with his jokes...man, all I can say, he was one of the funniest people I've ever seen and heard on TV
mrs.gingerhinkley 09-01-2007, 08:58 AM Irene,
Who doesn't love Lucy?!
Ireneparalegal 09-01-2007, 06:50 PM Another Lucy moment:
Lucy buys those checkerboard pants for Ethel's birthday. What was she thinking? I start laughing when Ethel asks when is she supposed to wear those pants. Lucy: "Well you wear them when you give smart dinner parties." Ethel: *sarcastically* "Oh...I was wondering what to wear to all those smart dinner parties I give." Then, Ethel starts laughing and that is just so hysterical.
Carol Burnett Show: The famous Gone With the Wind parody.
King of Queens: Doug afraid of that waitress who wants to kick his butt. The scene where he is running away from her is priceless.
Ireneparalegal 09-01-2007, 07:00 PM Let me add:
Seinfeld: The Masturbation episode. What can I say? The whole episode cracks me up. :brent
The Chinese Restaurant episode.
The Mannequin episode. When Jerry sees the mannequin in a rather risque pose and he tells Elaine the resemblance is uncanny. And then they proceed to walk over to the sales girl and Jerry pretends to be Elaine's lawyer coming up with all these supposed court precedents.
treky 09-01-2007, 10:09 PM Col. Blakes sex lectures on MASH-it is SUCH A SHAME that those are cut out in sydnication-they're so hilarious!
The scene in the first season episode "DEAR DAD" from MASH, where Hot Lips tent collapses on her and Frank, & just before it does you hear her shout/cry of "OH FRANK"!!!
The scene in the 2nd season episode of Klinger hang-gliding.
The scene at the end of the first season episode "TO MARKET, TO MARKET" of Henry standing there watching his desk dissapearing, attatched to the bottom of a helicopter-that expression on his face is priceless!!
The "TAXI" scene that others have mentioned:lol:

wkomorow 09-02-2007, 03:43 PM Still standing when Brian and Bill have the mascot's mask on - funniest scenes since Charlie Chaplin. It is easy to be funny with facial expression - much more difficult when you have a mask hiding your expressions.
Niles ironing scene on Frasier
bingbangbaby 09-02-2007, 04:04 PM Everything mentioned is great.
The things I can think of that truly made me laugh my butt off all came from the Carol Burnett Show. All of it was funny, but Tim Conway in particular would make my eyes water and my face hurt.
I saw him on a guest appearance on some show not too long ago and he still had me and the whole audience laughing through the entire spot.
The Honeymooners would be my second choice. I was usually wiping my eyes and rubbing my face watching that show too.
tv star collector 09-02-2007, 06:53 PM (In no particular order:)
Carol Burnett's spoof of "Gone with the Wind"
I Love Lucy: "Lucy Does a TV Commercial"
The Dick Van Dyke Show: "Coast-to-Coast Big Mouth"
I Love Lucy: "Job Switching"
Newhart: Series finale (with cameo appearance by Suzanne Pleshette)
All in the Family: Archie Bunker meets Sammy Davis Jr.
The Beverly Hillbillies: "The Giant Jackrabbit"
Laverne & Shirley: They try to get rid of a bomb! (That one always breaks
me up.)
catlover79 11-07-2009, 04:24 PM Laverne & Shirley - the "Betty, please" scene in the diner.
The Keaton Manor episode of Family Ties.
Any random episode of Perfect Strangers - especially when Larry and Balki try to fix Jennifer and Mary Anne's shower - with hysterically disasterous results.
sunshinefizzy 11-07-2009, 04:38 PM Seinfeld's Old Man and Reserved Parking Lot episodes. Watching that poor woman with the defunct used wheelchair going down the hill:lol: . The Pen was really good as well. Julia reached genius comedienne status in that episode. Stella!!! Stella!!!
Laverne and Shirley where they were at the bowling alley and Laverne has her eyes closed and she throws the ball the other way!!! The reaction on everyone's face. Holy crap!!!
Three's Company where Jack and Mr. Furley are stuck in the freezer and Mr. Furley breaks his pencil when trying to write his will.
"What a day! First I get robbed, then I get locked in a freezer, then to top it all off, I break my pencil!!!"
That was hilarious in a sense of, yeah, that's the least of you're problems bud.
I'm sure there are plenty of others but I don't want to go on forever.
stevea 01-29-2020, 02:56 PM Probably one of the funniest scenes is from the original Dick Van Dyke Show. In a flashback episode, Rob had not shown up for his wedding. Now he has, and his ears are all stopped up, and his voice is funny. He's saying I do at all the wrong times...it has to be seen to see how funny it is.
Merry24 01-29-2020, 04:06 PM I don’t know why but this sceen comes from The Golden Girls always gets me to smile and laugh..
(Sceen in the kitchen)
Sophia-Give me your watch.
Dorthy-Hi,Ma what you doing?
Sophia-I’m working on a magical act for the talent show at the center.
Abracadabra 1-2-3! (Sophia pulls out a hammer and Glass breaks).
Dorthy-Ma!
Sophia-Relax Dorthy, was your card the ace of spades?
Dorthy-MA What the hell are you talking about?
Sophia-I think I got chapters 7 and 9 mixed up.(Sophia empties the bag with the watch in it). This watch is broken.
Dorthy Ma, Stan gave that watch to me on our 10th Wedding Anniversary.
Sophia-Relax the Marriage never worked why should the watch.
Home Improvement: Off Sides
Night Court: A Guy Named Phantom
merlinjones 02-05-2020, 01:34 PM Eunice, Ed & Mama play "Sorry"
Eunice finds out the fate of Fluffy from Ellen & Mama
Sue Ann Nivens bedroom
Chuckles the Clown funeral
Uncle Arthur's "Zaga Zoozie Zim" prank on Darrin
danderson400 02-10-2020, 05:01 PM What about on American Gladiators once, during the Eliminator, Joanna Needham swung INTO the wall, knocking it over. It was the funnest thing I'd had seen!
"For Joanna Needham, 30 seconds (to complete the course), but a twenty-five point penalty for damaging the wall:lol:...(audience and me and my mother both laughs)".
tvfan25 02-10-2020, 09:14 PM Mama's Family where Iola has her cat freeze dried and when you pet it, it meows!
The Andy Griffith Show where Ellie Walker becomes the new pharmacist and refuses to give Emma Brand her pills for a dime. Then Emma runs into the courthouse saying there's been a murder. Andy asks, "who?" and she says me!
Bloodsucking Bernie 02-10-2020, 10:23 PM The first two times on How I Met Your Mother they did Robin Sparkels, Let's go to the mall and Sandcastles in the Sand are hilarious. They just played those two songs on my Pandora and reminded me how great they were.
My favorite is probably the scene on Seinfeld were Frank says to Elaine " You want a piece of me". I defy anyone to get thru that scene without laughing. Even Julia Louis Dreyfus had trouble see the outtakes.
stevea 02-11-2020, 10:23 AM Mama's Family where Iola has her cat freeze dried and when you pet it, it meows!
Another funny Mama is where the refrig. repair guy comes over, and a love letter gets passed around, and everybody is mixed up as to who it's for. Iola thins Vint wrote it for her (and is thrilled), Naomi thinks Bubba wrote it to her (and isn't happy), and Thelma thinks the repairman wrote it to her.
TheLurkerKing 03-02-2020, 07:43 PM The Magical World of Disney
Season 9 Episode 7 (1962)
Sammy, the Wayout Seal
Towards the end of the episode when the dogs are chasing the seal and the seal is chasing the dogs thru the supermarket. One has heard ROTFL! or Roll on the Floor Laughing. This is literally what happened when my mother, my younger sister, and I watched the show. We were laughing so hard, we could not get off of the floor. And when we were able to get up off the floor, another comic bit would come along, and we would be back on the floor.
