Since A Very Brady Christmas was a movie and not a series, It shouldn't count as a spinoff. The same would apply to other movies that were made after a series had ended it's run such as Rescue from Gilligan's Island.

The Brady Brides was my favorite, it was the closest to the original series.

The Variety Hour gets my vote--they were still fun, young and good looking :-)
I was just getting into The Bradys when it was abruptly canceled.

I wasn't around when The Brady Kids and The Brady Bunch Variety Hour aired, and I vaguely remember The Brady Brides because I was very young at the time. However, I did like The Brady's. The problem with The Brady's was that that show was done for Hollywood reasons more than creative reasons. I think that at that point, Sherwood Schwartz was sort of trying to "reinvent the wheel"; because the castmembers did not really want to do the show, even though they loved working with each other, they knew that the show was going to be a disaster, no matter what time slot they were put in. Generally speaking, fans love the occasional reunion movie. However, trying to revamp old sitcoms into dramedies, or even second generation sitcoms has rarely proven to be a good thing. Just my honest opinion.

Even though it only lasted a very short time, I really like the Brady's (drama).

The same here. I don't remember too much of it. I used to watch it when FoxFamily had the rights to it, and aired it on the weekends.

Shouldn't this be on the Brady Bunch forum?

I'm confused, Kanisky. How was it "done for Hollywood reasons more than creative reasons"?

I enjoyed the Brady Bunch Variety Hour the most because of the energy and the dancing. Not the comedy sketches though. Brady Brides was boring

I'm confused, Kanisky. How was it "done for Hollywood reasons more than creative reasons"?

I'll rephrase. What I meant to say was that The Bradys seemed to have been done for Hollywood reasons moreso than for creative reasons. When this show was discussed on the Brady Bunch E! True Hollywood Story, the castmembers were not really interested in doing the series, because they knew that the show would be a disaster. If it weren't for the money and the fact that they all loved working with each other, they would not have done the show. According to the ratings for both The Bradys and The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, the first episodes did well, but once the viewers saw that they were turned into weekly series, the ratings for both shows plumeted. It seemed (and probably still does) that the general American TV viewing audience loves the occasional reunion special, but that's where they draw the line. It wasn't the time slot alone that killed The Bradys. Sherwood Schwartz fought like mad to get The Bradys moved to the 9:00 p.m. timeslot. I think that the audience who saw the Brady Bunch as kids and in the sitcom format had a difficult time seeing that same bunch as adults in a dramedy format, especially on a weekly basis, in 1990. Sherwood Schwartz was trying to cash in on the Brady Bunch as much as possible. The writing for The Bradys didn't really reflect the changing times all that much. Yes, there were infertility physical disability, unemployment, politics, and substance abuse issues taking place in 1990 (pretty much goes without saying). However, the storylines were not written in a realistic way, for the most part. For example, Marica's alcoholism storyline was wrapped up in one episode. Anyone who has (or is battling) alcoholism will tell you that it is an ongoing struggle. Jan and Philip's infertility storyline was never brought up again after the premiere movie. As for their adoption of Patty, in reality, one has to go through several channels to adopt a child, regardless of age, and that process takes months, if not years, depending on the channels one has to go through for that adoption. All in all, Sherwood Schwartz was, in a way, trying to revamp a sitcom from the 60's/70's by turning it into a dramedy in 1990. More often than not, that formula doesn't work very well.

I hope this at least tries to clear up some confusion.

A Very Brady Christmas was only a TV movie reunion, not a spinoff. Of the three (Brady Variety Hour, Brides, Bradys) spinoffs, I've only seen a couple of episodes of the Variety Hour. That was no great shakes. I would like to see the other shows sometime.
