God, I had the STRANGEST DREAMS.

In one, we were in Florida and my aunt had these huge computers on her table, and her apartment looked like Katy's old apartment [even though you guys don't know what that looks like] and we were playing all these weird sounds on it. And I forgot the plug to my iPod so I couldn't charge it.

Then in another, Robyn was having a party and EVERYONE under the sun was there and I was chilling with her friends and then Robyn came up and started eating pizza with us and these creepy guys came in and crashed it.

In another, Genna and I were at this guy from our school's house and he was like in love with Genna and she was like in love with him too and I was really angry because he was a dickface. And she's like gushing about how they kissed in her car.

Then in the last one, my uncle told me he was going to take me shopping and then I went to get dressed while he waited and I came downstairs and he told me that I took too long and he wasn't going to take me because of it.

West Coast has no public transportation? Girl, I take the BART train to work every day ... we're connected. :p :happyface At least in the Bay. Maybe you're talking about SoCal.
Yea, SoCal. NYC is noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooothing like LA with public transportation.

Does Yearbook count as journalism?
To me, no. You guys are just putting out a book that gets published yearly (hence, 'yearbook'.). There are deadlines, editors, etc., yes, but it's different than putting out a monthly issue of the paper.

PZelda
08-19-2007, 12:44 PM
Yeah, when Niki was looking for places to move she was talking about some 600 sq ft trailer that cost $700,000. She ended up getting a 2 bedroom apartment just outside of LA, one block from the beach, but I have no idea how much it is costing her.

Exactly... You're better off looking outside of LA. Don't bother trying to get a place to live there, especially if you're a college student wanting to live in your own apartment.

It's like the fact I don't live IN Minneapolis, but outside of it. I'm in the south metro area...aka the best part of the suburbs. The farther north you go, the more expensive it is. Burnsville and Bloomington, especially Bloomington (it being RIGHT outside Minneapolis), are a lot more expensive to live in than where I live now. None of my sibs have lived IN Minneapolis the whole time they have lived here (2000 and 2005, respectively), because it's really expensive if you're living by yourself.

Yup, that's true. You guys are working with a different goal in mind, though. Putting out a book. You do have to report on all the major events, take pictures, etc. but in the end, it's going into a book and not a newspaper.

QUESTION TIME.

When did the rest of you guys' yearbooks come out? The yearbook staff at my high school just plain sucked, so we wouldn't get our yearbooks until sometime the NEXT school year. When I was a sophomore (2000-01), my freshman yearbook (1999-2000) didn't come in until OCTOBER. It got earlier with every passing year, but still. I got my sophomore and junior yearbooks sometime in mid-September. I had to come back to school the fall after I graduated, at the beginning of that September to pick up my senior yearbook.

We always got ours the next school year too. I didn't really mind though because that extra time allowed them to include all the stuff from prom and graduation in the yearbook. If we got them before the school year ended, none of that would have been in there.

The year they did my senior yearbook was the year they decided to start printing the underclassmens' pictures in color, too. Their pictures were always B&W before then... I was really upset that they decided to start doing that with MY senior yearbook. The seniors' pics were still bigger dimension-wise, but now it just didn't feel as special because everybody had colored pics.

The articles and captions SUCKED too. It was the year they decided not to use directives at the beginning of the captions. So I had to figure out which picture the caption matched up with, and it was like that in the WHOLE yearbook. :wallbang

Yah, they raised prices too. I can't remember what exactly the prices were before that... If you preordered before Christmas that year, it was $45. After Christmas until May, $55. In the fall of the NEXT school year, $65. I didn't preorder, so I paid $65 the following fall for mine.

I THINK my junior yearbook was only like $45 or $50 in the fall... the prices weren't so bad when I preordered mine. My freshman yearbook was like $35, and that was without preordering. Damn they've come a long way. I remember a year or so ago, I checked out the prices for my high school's yearbook... They were asking something like $75 in the fall. Sheesh... the whole thing must be in color by now.

I was walking back from the newspaper office with two guys who live in my building. We have to write cd reviews and we have to actually buy the cd so they can use the cover art because it's illegal to take it from the internet. So we were having this whole discussion about how we'd actually be losing money because what we get paid for writing reviews is a lot less than the price of a cd. So we were brainstorming ways to get free cds (I suggested taking our press passes to Best Buy and demanding free stuff) and just as we were discussing this, a strange Indian man with very long hair came up to us with a box and was like "You guys like music?" and one of the guys I was with goes "HEY we need some free cds! And we'll write about them in our paper!" and the strange man was like, "PERFECT." And he gave us a bunch of ridiculously awful cds. Like....awful. SO bad. And we can't even write about them because they're all like 1-4 years old.

I've been going to the MOA for 14 years... It opened in 1992, so it was still a new-ish mall when we started going in 1993. We would go to Minneapolis almost every summer... 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996 (I think), 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001... Then we stopped doing it in the summer. There was also 2003, 2004 and 2006. And now I'm living here in the area.

I remember when Camp Snoopy was new... Back when The Park was still Camp Snoopy, they used to have this HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Snoopy thing where you could bounce around in it, like one of these fun castles. I think it was at least four stories high. They had an assload of Peanuts-themed stuff in the park... Now it's all gone. :(

I called him on Saturday and left him a message and by like 3 today he hadn't called me back, so I emailed him and asked him about it and told him the times I was available (after 5:30) and he emailed me back with a phone number and said to call him to set something up and that he could "give me 10 minutes this evening." So I called him on my way to class and he was like "Can you do it now?" and I was like, "...no I'm on my way to class," and hes like "Okay...5:30 should be alright, I guess. 6 would be better...but whatever." So okay. So I called him at 6 and he answered the phone, "Hey there!" so I was my usual cheerful self and I said, "Are you ready for me?" and in this super condescending tone he was like "Well, lets see....I'm currently driving in my car, so you tell me if I'm ready." And I was like "Uhh." And he's like "Well you talked to Amber, you probably dont need much from me." I. Guess. Not.

And in the middle of our 3 minute and 29 second conversation, according to my phone, he goes, "I hope you're not trying to write all of this down." Then he's like, "The girls acted as not only artists, but curators. Curators are....I'm explaining this to you, not your readers, just so you know..." and I'm like, "I. know. what. a. curator. is." Jesus christ.

My high school one came out like two weeks before school ended.

Oh, and hi bitches. :p

The second room, called “Commemoration (Ephemeral representatives),” contains five chairs and a single blank dinner plate. Viewers sit in the chairs as they watch 80 archival images from ISU’s history projected onto the plate. While the pictures are being displayed, participants listen to audio recordings of primary and secondary sources played along with the images. However, the topic of the recordings does not always match up with the images being shown, Ginsburg explained.
“Sometimes you’ll be listening to audio about football and looking at an image of football. And sometimes you’ll be listening to audio about football and looking at an image of archery. It’s a little disjointed and a little off. History is like that. You can never really go back and can never exactly get it perfect,” she said.

Does that make sense at ALL? I feel like I quoted her wrong because it sounds confusing, but I swear thats how she said it.

third base arod: You have the locker room to do that! That's where I sneak peeks at yours!
jeter is clutch: I never said that I didn't steal looks there ;)

I went to high school with this gal. She was two years behind me, so she graduated in 2005.

Talk about NASTY... She's going to have skin cancer before she hits 30. (she's 20)

lol, that's not her kid. It's one of her friend's kids. (Thank god.)

Yeah, seriously. She needs to stop visiting the tanning bed so damn much. I'm pretty sure she goes to the tanning bed, like, everyday. When I'm tan, I sure as hell don't look like that.

My tat was only $55... But that's because it's like two inches long and only has black ink.

I wonder how much my next one will be.

One of Genna's was $60 and it's a five letter word, in cursive [Lintu, if you were wondering... it means bird in Finnish] and her other was $80 and it's a pink heart with little designs around it. They're both really small. I'm thinking mine'll be $100 or something. It's not gonna go around my whole arm though... too much pain. Just the front part, which is actually how Willa's is, but you can't tell in that picture.

How the hell do you have so many friends with tats? Must be a lot more laid-back parents in LA.

Yeah, I stuck to piercings in my teens... If I don't like them anymore, I can just take them out. I'd been wanting a tattoo since I was 13/14 and could have gotten one at 18, but I didn't. Took me until 21 to finally get one.
