According to the Messageboards @ TVLand.com, two new shows have been acquired, one for December or January of 07-08 and one for June of 2008 (subjcet to change). Both are shows that ran from the 1960s in to the 1970s. We should hear more shortly...great news!

I wonder if Bewitched and jeannie could be coming back, or maybe Get Smart or The Beverly Hillbillies...

I know that The Link on the message boards said he was extremeley happy with the acquisitions.

Both Get Smart and Beverly Hillbillies sprang into my head because I had also heard they previously aired on either N@N or TVL, but the Link said one of them was a comedy with drama aspects or the other way around

I'm curious to find out!!

The only sitcom I can think of like that is Room 222 but I doubt that's it.

for all that's worth, it could be repeats of Mr T's reality show

(of course, i REALLY hope it's not)

I hope it's "My Three Sons" (1960-1972) and whatever else. I just really want to see "My Three Sons" again.

Could it be "Family Affair"? That show was a comedy with a lot of drama in it. And it's from the sixties and runs into the seventies.

i wouldnt be surprised if Get Smart came back for a time....because that movie version is coming soon, and they usually cross-promote these things.

They also want to do an I Dream of Jeannie movie for the big screen. I don't understand why though. It already had a couple reunion movies...

My guess is I Dream of Jeannie... along with Get Smart.

im thinking one of them could be barney miller because i read a book where the authour called barney miller a comedy with dramatic overtones and maybe they were quoting from the book one the other hand they had barney miller once before and gave it the shaft as for the 60s show i dont even have a clue

No it will be two shows from the 60's that lasted until the 70's so that eliminates MTM and Rhoda

never mind the above post i just now noticed the part where it said that both shows ran from the 60s into the 70s in that case i will say maybe one of them is the bill cosby show that ran from 1969 to 1971 and was a comedy with dramatic moments

I think the Bill Cosby Show is more of a 1970's show since it only aired 4 months in the year of 1969 like the Brady Bunch

I thought of one that ran from 1968 to 1971,and that is "Mayberry RFD".Could be,because American Life TV no longer carries it.And another one, from the same time frame,1968 to 1971,"Julia"with Dihann Carroll. It could be either one of those,or both. But,since TVLand-and ONLY TVLand-the FINAL SAY as to what does and doesn't air,who knows?

Well, like TVLand Fan said, wasn't "Laugh-In" supposed to be coming up soon? Maybe that's one of the shows? I'd love it if it were. Jo Anne Worley was on "The View" a couple of days ago and I really forgot how much I loved her and everyone else on the show. I'd definitely like to see it again, in its full-length form only though.

The comedy with dramatic overtones...hmm...I'd love for it to be "Room 222." Haven't seen that show in forever, if I even ever saw it, really. I might have caught one episode or so back when Nick at Nite actually aired random shows for marathons.

OK, the hints we have gotten on both ACQUIRED shows so far are:

Both are 1960s shows, but ran in to the 70s
one is B&W crossing in to color
both are 30 minutes
One was a mystery type show or something like that
Both were on the Switchboard list (I believe, don't quote me)
At least one is a 'defining' show of the 1960sFirst, let's see the Switchboard list of shows that fit this.

Bewitched
Get Smart
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.
Hogan's Heroes
Laugh-In
That Girl

I say either Laugh In, Get Smart, or Hogan's Heroes. Two of those three.

Then there's ANOTHER show that is going to be acquired for a short time early next year for an anniversary celebration.

I just want my Petticoat Junction back!!! It fits a few of the hints because it was B+W and Color, it ran in to 1970. But, it won't be. So, I ain't getting excited one bit. I'm just curious to see what it will be. Any new additions are good.

Wow, thanks for doing all that work. Definitely makes it easier to narrow it down.

My guess is that short-term show for an anniversary celebration is "Laugh-In." It debut in January 1968, so its 40th anniversary is going to be in the beginning of next year.

As far as the two 30 minute shows, I think I might have an idea. Based off the clues and the Switchboard list, I'm guessing "Bewitched" and "Get Smart." Both were 30 minutes. Both ran from the 1960s until the 1970s (but both are considered 60s shows). BW is without a doubt a defining 60s show, and the same can be said about GS to a much a lesser degree. And of course GS has mystery-like plotlines. BW was in black and white for a while then went into color.

Those are my final guesses. I'm looking forward to seeing "Bewitched" again, and I might get into "Get Smart." But I was really hoping for "That Girl," which I watched for the first time ages when TVLand aired the marathon in December. Loved it to death and I watched some of my episodes from that marathon on tape a couple of days ago.

Sometimes I wish they would just step out of the box and pick something that had a healthy run but isn't represented well in reruns anymore. I've always thought that "That Girl" and "Julia" would be PERFECT in a block together.

I believe The Link said it was a 35th Anniversary Show, meaning a show that debuted in 1972 - which makes believe it will be either "Maude" or "The Bob Newhart Show" (my guess is Bob Newhart, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was Maude)

As for the two shows acquired - I want to go on record guessing that it is "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Get Smart" - I think those fit the descriptions well. Both are defining shows, BH was in Black & White originally, Get Smart is a mystery type show and they've both been on N@N or TVL before, which was something else mentioned on the Switchboard

Carol Burnette was fantastic until Harvey Cormann left....and the defining moment, Solomon , was the hilarious parody of Gone With the Wind, featuring Carol in a dress made from Tara's curtains ( as in the movie ).......including the curtainrod!!! ( THAT wasnt in the movie   ), not to mention Rhett Butler's most famous line cut off to "Frankly my dear, I don't Gi....." when Scarlet ( I think she may have been called Starlet in the parody ), closes the door in his face!

I can't believe that having ONE episode in B&W (the pilot) would qualify as crossing from one to the other. ONE EPISODE.

Anyway, personally I'd like to see something else. I own the DVDs...I'm not going to waste time watching it on TVL.

And to whoever asked about Courtship of Eddie's Father- yes, it ran from 69-72. I doubt it'll see the light of day though. Unless you lived in the south a few years ago and saw it on Turner South.

Well, it was (and I think still is) on AmericanLife for a good, looooong time. I wouldn't be too surprised if it turned up somewhere more mainstream.

Hell, I'm just glad TVLand still cares about showing things from the 60s anyway. Chopped up and edited and mistreated as it would be, I'm still looking forward to whatever it is.

Link has said in the past that when Bewitched first came to TVland, it did very well, but as the show stayed on, ratings got lower and lower, which is why they didn't renew the contract. But, since it's one of the most requested shows at the TVLand boards, I'm sure that's one of the shows, but what's the other one?
