I love all three, mostly for their harmonizing. What group do you like the best? This is for your opinion, not who was the most successful. I'm giving it to The Bee Gees.

View Full Version : The Bee Gees, Beach Boys or Mamas & The Papas Janice 07-24-2007, 04:47 PM I love all three, mostly for their harmonizing. What group do you like the best? AB 07-24-2007, 05:39 PM The Bee Gees for me too, even though I like all those listed. catlover79 07-24-2007, 05:47 PM Man, this is not fair!! I love them all - but I'll give the edge to the Bee Gees. Not only is their music great, but they are from Manchester, England - where my grandfather's family hails from (we still have relatives there, btw). -STEFFY- 07-24-2007, 06:47 PM Out of the three choices....I pick The Bee Gees. Ireneparalegal 07-24-2007, 06:56 PM Wow, what a choice. Hands down, The Bee Gees. I love more of their music than the other two groups. Beach Boys have too many songs that sound the same, have the same theme (the beach, etc.). One reason I never could get into the Beach Boys. They have maybe two songs that I can listen to. Mamas and the Papas, again, they have just 4 songs I like and listen to. Bee Gees just have an awesome sound, they have ballads and of course, those disco hits. I REALLY REALLY LOVE their songs HOW TO MEND A BROKEN HEART and WORDS. "Words" makes me cry when I hear it. It is so beautifully sung. FANNY is another song that is so different and it is a great song. YOU SHOULD BE DANCING is a great hit. I can't help but think of John Travolta doing that dance in Saturday Night Fever to that song. Mikado 07-24-2007, 09:40 PM Going against the flow here; I chose the Beach Boys....The BeeGees sang wimpy love songs and gave us the "disco" era ( Saturday night Live soundtrack :barf: ) ....as for the Mamas & Papas, they were ok, but, not my cup of tea Mr. Television 07-24-2007, 09:44 PM The Beach Boys coffield3 07-24-2007, 11:04 PM Beach boys! Zebra 3 07-24-2007, 11:45 PM I'll go with the Bee Gees. Nighthawk76 07-24-2007, 11:50 PM The Bee Gees :D AKA 07-24-2007, 11:54 PM I like them all, but The Beach Boys are by far my favorite. A lot of people think their songs sound the same, and a lot of the early ones do. But I'd encourage anyone to seek out music from what I consider their best period (1965-1971). All three Wilson Brothers, especially Brian, made some gorgeous music. catlover79 07-25-2007, 12:20 AM I like them all, but The Beach Boys are by far my favorite. All three Wilson Brothers, especially Brian, made some gorgeous music. I always want to cry whenever I hear "Don't Worry Baby" and I always want to get in a T-Bird and burn rubber to "Fun Fun Fun". To me, that's the mark of a great group. :D Chesty Pickle 07-25-2007, 01:51 PM i cant even comprehend how the bee gees are winning this... i love the bee gee's, but artistically they are no where near as interesting or important to music history as the beach boys or the mama's and the papa's... pet sounds alone should put the beach botys in first let alone all of their other great albums... and the mama's and the papa's as well are much more influential than the bee gee's... oh well. it's an online poll, who cares. all three are great bands. Number 9 Dream 07-25-2007, 03:45 PM I like them all, but I'm giving the edge to the Bee Gees :) Fleet 07-25-2007, 04:56 PM The Beach Boys. I really like surf and car music. Mikado 07-25-2007, 05:07 PM its almost neck and neck now.....Go Beach Boys, GO!  catlover79 07-25-2007, 05:57 PM What's so great here is that two of these three groups are made up of family members (yes, I know John & Michelle Phillips of Mamas & Papas were married, but I'm not counting spouses, just blood relations). The Wilson/Love family made up the Beach Boys, and the Gibb brothers made up the Bee Gees. Family groups always have a soft spot in my heart - like another family act, The Carpenters. :D Ireneparalegal 07-25-2007, 05:59 PM Where is Sharop? That vote will certainly be for the Bee Gees. Dude111 10-23-2021, 07:43 PM This poll was HARD!!!! I couldnt decide between Bee Gees and Beach Boys but I selected BEACH BOYS.. I have an 8 track of them "ENDLESS SUMMER" and its insanely good!! http://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/wiki/Endless_Summer_(The_Beach_Boys_album).html |
