My parents are gone now, yet I remember with fondness the shows they loved to watch. My father loved Murder She Wrote, College Football and of course, the New England Patriots.

My mother loved The Golden Girls, Designing Women and Frasier. During the day, she always had Lifetime on, and loved those made-for-tv Lifetime movies. My mother enjoyed watching the Red Sox, actually more than my father. My mother went wild for 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' when it hit the scene. We used to call each other during tense moments on the show.

They watched Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy together every night. Going way back, they enjoyed Columbo and Quincy.

My Mom's favorite shows were The Waltons, Little House on the Praire, Columbo, Quincy, Touched By An Angel, Murder She Wrote.

My Dad never really had a favorite show though he liked AITF. He mainly watches sports now.

Awesome Thread!!!!!

Ok, I was too young to know what my mom loved to watch, but I know for a fact she loved watching at Easter time THE TEN COMMANDMENTS and all the biblical movies.

My dad, HE WAS THEEEEEE BIGGEST DODGER FAN EVER! He bought a satellite dish (back when they were the thing to have) so he could watch Dodger home games. DODGERS DODGERS DODGERS, if there was a game on, he would watch it.

He also loved to watch the westerns, BONANZA, GUNSMOKE, etc. And oh yes! ALL THE COURT TV SHOWS, Judge Judy, Divorce Court, People's Court (he especially loved the original People's Court with that white-haired judge, can't remember his name). Any court show, he watched it. He had a television at his business. That tv was on all day long. In between work and customers, my dad would watch it.

He was also a huge fan of QUINCY.

I remember after my dad died, as I went through his stuff at his business, I found his "tv listing" that he wrote. He wrote the times and channels that his fave shows came on.

Janice, how funny you posted blurry screen. I was getting tears in my eyes as I wrote that. I had this smile on my face but the tears were welling up as I was remembering what he watched. God, there are other shows that he loved to watch, but for the life of me I can't remember, the obvious ones came to mind.

The Waltons isn't a western. Maybe you're confusing it with Little House on the Praire.

I can still hear the theme song to The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. My parents watched his monolog in bed every night, for as far back as I can remember. It was a mainstay of growing up for me.

Some of my mom's favorites: Bewitched (:D ), Lucy, Little House, Waltons, Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, Bob Newhart Show, Newhart, Seinfeld, Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond. Today she enjoys House, but her real favorites are all the Food Network shows like Paula Deen, Rachael Ray and Barefoot Contessa.

As for my dad: Jetsons, Green Acres, Dukes of Hazzard, WKRP, Seinfeld, Home Improvement, Coach, The Commish. He doesn't like a lot of the current shows, but he'll watch House with my mom and I. Mainly he just watches the news. We have some of the aforementioned shows on DVD, so he'll watch those, too.

Man...my dad has probably watched everything. Back when The Monkees first came on Nick at Nite (summer of 97 I believe), he could still sing along with some obscure song he hadn't heard since 1967! (I think it was Your Auntie Grizelda if there are any Monkees fans reading).

Anyway, so my dad has lotsssssss. Spends his days off mainly watching TV while playing handheld freecell. Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Magnum, Rockford, Matlock (I think he's seen every Matlock more times than Grandpa Simpson), Perry Mason, Andy Griffith, Adam-12, Dragnet, Quincy (which seems pretty popular in this thread!), WKRP (HUGE FAV. Knows all the lines), Hunter, bad comedy movies, baseball games (Cussing the Cubs is a past time around here), races and NASCAR related shows, Reba, Still Standing...I'm sure there's more I can't think of. Watches Sleuth, Lifetime, Hallmark Channel, and Speed a lot during the day.

Mom...well, I can't remember what she used to watch. I know she was a fan of Airwolf and St. Elsewhere. I remember her watching Falcon Crest. Used to watch Guiding Light. Now it's basically what's on CBS; most of the dramas and Two and a Half Men. Oh, and she's always had a fondness for Ozzie and Harriet.

my Dad told me once that when he and my mother got married, in 1954, his favorite show was GUNSMOKE. He always thought that it went off sometime in the early 60s, though. He was AMAZED when I told him once that it went off in 1975.
He also used to like THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW and ALL IN THE FAMILY. (he had never even heard of THE JEFFERSONS or MAUDE until receently!)
Now he LOVES sports, and he likes LAW AND ORDER, and westerns (he calls them "shows about cowboys and indians:lol: ). And he'll watch MASH if he runs across it.
And my Mom likes MASH and reruns of THE NANNY. (she used to LOVE that show when it was on)
She CAN'T STAND ALL IN THE FAMILY and THE HONEYMOONERS.

Being that I grew up on reruns, my parents used to always tell me what they watched when they were younger. Over the years, my mother's mentioned..."Dallas," "Dynasty," "Little House on the Prairie," "My Three Sons," "Petticoat Junction," "The Beverly Hillbillies," "Green Acres," "Eight is Enough," "The Dukes of Hazzard," "The Rockford Files," "Falcon Crest," "Flamingo Road," "The Incredible Hulk," "The Colbys," "The Love Boat," "Hart to Hart," "Fantasy Island," "Match Game," "Family Feud," and a whole bunch of other stuff. She's always been a huge Lifetime fan, too. She'll spend an entire day off in bed watching LMN. Let's see what else..."American Idol" and "Dancing with the Stars" are some of her current favorites. She likes reruns of the "Law & Order" shows and she used to watch "Third Watch" reruns before they stopped airing them. There's definitely a lot more stuff that I'm forgetting too.

My father pretty much watched the same stuff she did, they like a lot of the same types of TV. He also watches "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful" every now and then when he's on break from work. He loved "Oz" on HBO too. Both of them love "Deal or No Deal." They were both BIG on the primetime soaps in the 80s. BIG. BIG. They know all of the stories from all of the shows and can still tell you everything that happened on all of them.

For most of 2005 and 2006, my mother would get home from work at about 2 or 3 and turn the TV onto our local FOX station. On Tuesdays, that TV would stay on that channel for the rest of the day. All the court shows would come on, followed by "Dr. Phil," followed by the news, an hour of "Family Feud," and then "American Idol" followed by "House." And then the news would come on again and when that went off, they'd usually go to bed. FOX changed up a lotta stuff, though, so they don't watch nearly as much as that anymore.
