View Full Version : Is there a Old Sitcom you are a Fan of that your family or friends never heard of?
TVFactFan 06-01-2007, 11:36 PM That show for me is
CPO SHARKEY-1976, no one in my Family never heard of it and my friends haven't either-lol Not even my mom and she was 24 at the time
catlover79 06-01-2007, 11:45 PM My siblings had never heard of Barney Miller. Then again, the show was off the air by the time they were born (or they were very little).
treky 06-02-2007, 01:18 AM my niece and nephew never heard of WKRP IN CINCINATI and BARNEY MILLER.

Both classic shows! Have you showed any episodes to your niece and nephew?
Yooch 06-02-2007, 11:05 AM I don't think so, as we used to watch most of them together.
tanquant 06-02-2007, 05:59 PM The Honeymooners. I grew up in New York where everybody knows it but now I live in North Carolina where nobody's ever heard of it. Not even Jackie Gleason
GARFIELDKOOL 06-02-2007, 10:33 PM My 23 year-old nephew has never heard of, "Kate & Allie" and "Mr. Belvedere" I blame that on syndication, not him.
And he was born in 1984 when Kate & Allie preimered.
catlover79 06-02-2007, 10:44 PM ^ The 1st season of Kate & Allie is now on DVD, and I think Season 2 is forthcoming.
Yeah, where is Mr. Belvedere?? I LOVED that show as a kid! It was no syrupy cavity fest like Full House. The kids were sarcastic and full of mischief, plus Bob Uecker as the dad was hilarious. It's been like 15 years since I've seen it. This one better come out on DVD, too!!

Two of thes best underated 80s sitcoms. Whenever you hear 80s sitcoms mentioned, you never hear these two shows mentioned.

:yeahthat  Wesley was the funniest kid on 80s TV. He and Mr. Belvedere made a great team.

Yeah he was. They had great chemistry. I liked him better than Ben Seaver.

Nobody? I can guarantee you that alot of people here in NC know who Jackie Gleason is and have most definitely heard of the Honeymooners.

Well since I grew up in NC I can believe it but thats still pitiful. Gleason was a comic Genius.
dawsongirl 06-03-2007, 01:30 AM No, not with my dad around. He's seen all sorts of shows.
Classicshowsgurl15 06-03-2007, 09:37 PM Well, all the shows I pretty much watch, my parents have heard of because they watch them, but alot of them my friends haven't heard of. Like alot of the 60s and 70s shows my friends haven't heard of. The 80s and 90s ones they have heard of some of them.

treky 06-04-2007, 02:25 AM Both classic shows! Have you showed any episodes to your niece and nephew?
no, I haven't.
blue4t 06-04-2007, 03:08 PM It's hard because my family and I usually end up watching the same shows. I do feel offended that one of the above posters thinks no one in NC has heard of The Honeymooners and Jackie Gleason. I used to live there and yes, they have heard of both things! I lived there when they had that Jackie Gleason special on CBS.
My sister when she was younger was just as into classic TV as I am so it's hard to say she or the rest of my immediate family hasn't heard of any sitcom I like. Actually, my parents are always like "Have you heard of this show?" and I'm like yep.
Zoneboy 06-04-2007, 03:12 PM I do feel offended that one of the above posters thinks no one in NC has heard of The Honeymooners and Jackie Gleason.
Likewise.

Sorry. I was not trying to offend anybody that lives in North Carolina. What I should have said was the people that I know in North Carolina have never even heard of the Honeymooners. When I ask them have they ever seen it they say what are the Hooneymooners?

Mr. Terrific
My wife and I are the same age (She's actually a couple of months older, and I never let her forget it.), but she has no memory of Mr. Terrific from 1967.
Of course, now that I've managed to get my hands on several episodes, she's getting a crash course. She now considers Gerald Fried (who wrote the theme song) to be her arch-enemy.
