...The only reason you agreed to drive us to Denver was for $200. It was shown earlier that Mel was willing to drive Alice for nothing. It wasn't till after he offered to drive the Semi that he was offered $200.

Well I'll have to agree with Alice. Mel had a car, and when he found out that Alice plans were falling through he could have offered to drive them out of the kindness of his heart. The way he did it would have made me feel pretty small, if I were thinking all along that someone was trying to help me and just being nice, but then find out that they did it for the money.
