They allowed Thelma to get engaged while she was 17, but they didn't want J.J. marrying Diana while he was 18 or 19....... It's obvious they thought Thelma was more mature than J.J.

View Full Version : How to tell that James and Florida thought that Thelma was more mature than J.J Janice Johnson 04-03-2007, 04:51 PM They allowed Thelma to get engaged while she was 17, but they didn't want J.J. marrying Diana while he was 18 or 19....... J.J. at 18 could not support a wife and therefore they did not approve of the engagment. With Thelma, they see it as a way for her to leave the ghetto and move to a better area. They never gave their blessing. Brian Damage 04-13-2007, 10:22 PM They didn't allow Thelma to be engaged at 17. They both had a fit, especially when they found out who she was engaged to.
