Name some shows that had gambling in a episode, it could be a friendly card
game or a visit to a casino or a bet between characters.

Also, Jack goes to a charity gambling casino event, not realizing it was fake money.

It's not a sitcom but at least 2 episodes of The Twilight Zone had a gambling theme.

A Game of Pool starring Jack Klugman & Jonathan Winters, Jesse Cardiff (Klugman) Challenges the undisputed billiards champion, Fats Brown (Winters) to one game, If Jesse wins, He becomes the greatest. If he loses, He dies.

Newsradio - Jimmy loses Bill in a station owners poker game and Lisa plays poker with the guy who won to try and win Bill back.

In another episode of Newsradio, Matthew wants to learn how to be a gambler so he can be one of the guys and he ends up betting with Joe and loses a bunch of bets including the classic "guess which hand the pencil is in".

Taxi - A lot of gambling on this show. Several episodes had Louie betting against the other cabbies, mainly on the outcome on Tony's fights. He lost most of the time.

There was also an episode where Jim gets addicted to betting on horse races and he wins $10,000 and he ends up buying the horse that won the race.

Another episode had Louie betting against Bobby to see who could bring in the most money in one shift, Louie or Alex.

And theres an episode where Alex goes to Atlantic City and gets hooked on gambling. He finally snaps out of it after he realizes he stole Jim's last dollar.

There was a first season ep of Frasier where Martin was having his poker buddies over. He told Frasier two were cops and one was an ex-con. Martin bet Frasier money (I don't remember how much) that he couldn't guess which one was the ex-con. Of course, Frasier lost.

I believe the ep. you're referring to (the first one) is "It's Whether You Win or Lose," where Mary invited Murray to Lou's poker game, not knowing he was a recovered compulsive gambler. Murray ended up losing a bunch of money to Ted (He got lucky! lol), and then Murray went double or nothing on whether or not Ted could read a foriegn name correctly on the air. Naturally, Ted blew it. ;)

Hope that helps!

there are numerous Hogan's Heroes episodes where Sgt Schultz can be heard bellowing "no gambling in the barracks" or something similiar. There is one episode I can think of that actually had a gambling theme. Hogan set up a Monte Carlo night so that they could raise money for the "Winter relief fund" that klink was in charge of. (actually, the real reason was so hogan could create a diversion and swap out a top secret airplane part that a nazi was carrying in his briefcase)

"M*A*S*H" had many episodes that featured gambling.

While they mostly played poker (my favorite episode "Deal Me Out" was about an all night poker game), the gang at the 4077th played craps, bet on the Kentucky Derby, a ping pong tournament, football, baseball, mouse races, bowling, bridge, boxing, a road race ran by Father Mulcahy, and they also bet on whether an enemy bomber plane would hit thier ammo dump whenever he attacked the camp.

Family Matters - Eddie and Steve were gambling at a casino in one episode, and in another episode they gambled in a pool hall.

Also on Family Matters Steve and Eddie were betting on NFL games, and the bookie was named "Bones ... as in I break 'em." Plus, Steve and Carl played cards with Lt. Murtaugh if memory serves, and Steve said he had two pair, as in four of a kind (all tens).

Perfect Strangers dealt with gambling, too, in several episodes. Larry and Balki, like Steve and Eddie above, bet on NFL games--I remember Larry grabbing Balki and asking him, "THE PACKERS OR THE BROWNS???"

Then Balki got a racehorse and he bet on the next race involving him at 50:1 odds; he won, with Balki betting only $2. The cousins thought about what $100 would get them, including a new pair of Air Jordans and twenty trips to the top of the Sears Tower. Or was that what they won in the lottery episode in which they matched four of six numbers?

The cousins took two trips to Las Vegas, and one of them involved a visit to a casino; Larry lectured Balki on the evils of gambling, only to get caught up in it all and lose everything he had, including the plane ticket back to Chicago!

Does the time they appeared on the game show "Risk It All" count? Their objective was to either leave with their winnings or continue by risking it all.

Okay, had to read through all 5 pages of responses, so I wouldn't duplicate any answers. ;)

"King of Queens" - The episode where all the guys at IPS are going on a weekend to Atlantic City, and Doug has to convince Carrie to go there for the anniversary of their first date. Unfortunately, Doug's boss, Supervisor O'Boyle, overhears the guys talking about the trip, and he is reluctantly invited.

Meanwhile, Deacon's wife left him just before he was to go on the trip, and Doug & Carrie are left with only his boss, a reformed gambler & alcoholic. Deacon finally decides to come join them, but he's on a forced "high" due to his wife leaving him. He's betting on craps, and eventually Mr. O'Boyle (their boss) throws himself headlong, back into drinking & gambling in the heat of the moment.

"Yes, Dear" - There are two episodes in a casino. The first one might have been the pilot episode, actually. Jimmy talks Greg into going to an Indian casino, but he has Sammy with him. Sammy takes his first steps on the casino floor, & he video-tapes it for posterity. Then he realizes that his wife, Kim will see their child in a casino. Jimmie has a friend digitally change the background, so it looks as if the toddler is walking in a park. But toward the end of the tape, you see Sammy walking toward a pond......and eventually, literally "walking on water!"

The 2nd "Yes, Dear" episode has Greg & Jimmie wisking his father away for a "guy's weekend," something he hopes might become an annual event for them. Tim Conway plays his scatter-brained father, and he's seen repeatedly wandering off the wrong way, and in general, a nuisance to keep track of. Near the end of the show, Tim Conway is supposed to go back to his room, and once again, he makes a wrong turn. This time into a giant glass-encased animal cage for live monkeys. Too funny!

On an episode of King Of Queens, Doug's mom plays poker with them. And she 's so good, that Doug uses her to hussle some other poker games.

the Golden Girls/In the fourth season's "Sophia's Wedding" episode, it was revealed via flashback that Sal and Max Weinstock operated a Coney Island food stand years before and that Sal gambled away the profits, causing the business to go under.

On One Day At A Time Barbara sold football betting cards (and got Schneider arrested in the process!). There was also a two parter in Vegas where various characters hit the casino.

Married with Children. Al and the family go gambling at a casino, and he imagines himself as James Bond in Casino Royale.

In the season 1 episode Carol's Paper, Mike and Ben gamble on horses and win until their horse falls down and loses the race. It taught the boys a very valuable lesson about gambling and how wrong and bad it is.
There were two episodes of I Dream of Jeannie that dealt with gambling. One was a season one episode where Tony and Roger went to Vegas and Roger snuck Jeannie in without Tony's knowledge. Jeannie made it possible for them to win and make a lot of money.
Another episode in the last season had Jeannie hiding out during a poker game so she could help Tony figure out who were the cheaters.
On Frasier, there were several episodes where Martin had his friends over for poker.

The Wayans Bros. Season 2 Episode 9 "The Sting"

Shawn bets the newsstand in a poker game and loses it to T.C. The jokes in this episode are hilarious! If you haven't seen it, you need to watch it.

Wow I didn't realize this thread was so old but in an early ep of Facts of Life, Mrs. Garrett's ex-husband teaches Tootie to play a card game. I can't remember which one, though.

In the episode Pick a Con... Any Con, Coach loses $8,000 bar savings to George Wheeler in rounds of gin rummy, a card game. Therefore, Sam bails out a con artist Harry the Hat from jail and pays him $5,000 to get the money back from George. At night, George plays poker with Harry and with other players, including Sam. George wins every round when his opponents, including Harry, fold. Coach and Sam discover that, in a recent round, Harry's four 3s in his hand (four of a kind) would have beaten George's straight hand. Then George and Harry confess that they have been teaming together to cheat the bar patrons the whole night. George threatens to report them to the police for gambling in poker if they try anything. However, Coach begs for another round with Harry and George alone. At the final round, Coach rubs his nose as a sign that George could beat Harry with three Queens. Harry wins with four 3s and exits the bar. When George leaves, Harry re-enters from the back room and admits that he teamed up with Coach to retrieve the $8,000 by cheating George.

On The Dick Van Dyke show Rob accidently plays cards with Ritchies magic
cards which are marked. The new neighbor gets very upset and accuses Rob
of cheating.

The new neighbor just happened to be the Chief from Get Smart! Sorry Rob, you don't mess with the Chief!

Here we are 6 pages in and I am completely stunned and mystified that no one has mentioned the man that I believe was the best, smartest, and clearly the funniest, gambler in TV sitcom history:

Master Sergeant Ernest Bilko played by Phil Silvers in "The Phil Silvers Show".

The entire series revolved around Bilko finding get-rich-schemes through gambling---which he was always doing with his platoon---or other brilliant ideas which he would use to fool the clueless Col. Hall into thinking that he was running a real Army motor pool. That series had a lot of great episodes, including "The Twitch" with Charlotte Rae as a nervous guest speaker with a severe twitching problem which the men naturally bet on; "The Eating Contest" with Fred Gwynne as a private with an unusually large appetite; "Hillbilly Whiz" with Dick Van Dyke, a star Southern pitcher that Bilko uses to rig an Army baseball game; and "The Court Martial" with a wandering monkey trying to get drafted, one of the best sitcom episodes I have ever seen. When it comes to gamblers, con men and all-around schemers nobody on TV could ever beat Sgt. Bilko.

I remember there was a big multi-show crossover where the characters all interacted in a Las Vegas casino. I believe The Drew Carey Show was one of the shows involved.
