That lady was a knockout. What happened to her and her friends was awful beyond words. I could kill Manson with my bare hands.

I'd seen those before, actually. I went through a real Sharon Tate phase not that long ago, and watched all her movies. I think she looked the most beautiful in Eye of the Devil. That woman was so gorgeous, but also somehow looked sad.

There's a lot of info on her and her family (and her killers) on youtube. Look at Patti Tate, that woman looked so much like her sister it was spooky. Thank God she and her mother have kept those killers behind bars.

Why are the Manson people still alive eating up good tax money?? I think it was Susan Atkins who actually killed her. The freak has a website. I checked out her book Child of Satan, Child of God from the library. She said Jesus appeared in her cell i n a bright glowing white light. Whatever Susan. I know you want out.

I wonder if Sharon had lived what would she have done when Roaman molested that little girl back in '77??

Isn't Sharon's mother and sister both dead now too?

It's often been said that the Manson family will never see the light of day....that the American psyche couldn't handle it. Sharon's late mother Doris and her sister Patti fought tirelessly on her behalf at all of the murderer's parole hearings. Patti lost her life to breast cancer at age 42.

I know. That was so sad. Both of those sisters died young and beautiful. Fortunately there's a third sister, Debra Tate, who's still alive and keeping up the battle.

There's a lot of debate over whether it was Susan Atkins or Tex Watson who actually killed her - sounds like it was probably both. But from where we stand nowadays, Tex has at least admitted his part in the Tate/LaBianca murders - Susan still denies that she ever did anything. I find that infuriating. And she has the guts to preach to us about God's love. She's seriously twisted.

Just watched Valley of the Dolls again a few nights ago. Sharon looked flawless in every single shot. Bless her soul.

I have watched Valley of the Dolls since I was little with my mom. It's one of my favorite movies. Sharon Tate was so beautiful, what happened to her was so tragic. :(

She was born the same year as my mom. So so sad as she was also 9 months pregnant. I hope Mr. Polanski would not have messed around with that little girl had Sharon lived. Such a waste...

reason I said "nevermind" was I thought 'well, i'll just look it up myself!'

I have always heard of the "Manson Family" but never really looked into finding out about it....

My mother was pregnant with my brother when Sharon was murdered in August of 1969. My brother was born two months later. I think about that sometimes, how her son would be the same age as my brother. :(

I've always thought that too. I seriously think that he's never been completely balanced since it happened. He's gone through so much - losing his parents in the Holocaust, then his pregnant wife, his best friend (Voyteck), his best friend's girlfriend (Gibby Folgier), and Sharon's friend (Jay Sebring). And they all died for no reason. There was no motive at all, and they were butchered mercilessly. I don't know how you can begin to recover from that. I wonder if he ever really did.

I have the book, but I haven't found time to read it yet. I've seen both the movies though. The second one was really well done.

Can anyone send me links to the summary of the helter skelter movies

I can sum them up pretty quickly:

Basically the first one was the book - it was told from the point of view of Vince Bugliosi (the prosecutor), how they built up the case, and got a conviction, amidst all the weird things the Manson girls were doing during the trial.

The second one was told from the point of view of Linda Kasabian (the star witness). I really thought that one was much more insightful and also shows the lives of several people who were affected (they had a great, great actor playing Roman Polanski). It's told more of a story than a courtroom drama.

Also slightly off topic. But Charles Manson, tried to murder Terry Melcher (Doris Day's Son). Who had sold him the home the home that he was in, at the time of the SHaron Tate Murder. And also Doris Day and Terry Melcher were on his hit list. Due to the fact that at one time when he was trying to get started in singing, and went to Terry Melcher, who ran Arwin Productions (owned by doris day/terry melcher) which along with producing doris's tv shows, movies, songs etc. Also had some other singers under their label.

I remember that. Melcher managed the Beach Boys, and they had recorded one of Manson's songs. Supposedly Manson chose the house because he'd been there before to drop Terry off. He knew Melcher had moved, because he had gone there and seen Sharon Tate. He figured she and her friends were friends of Melcher's, and were probably also movie stars, so the murders would get noticed. Terry used to share that house with his girlfriend, Candice Bergen. How different the world might have been...

Speaking of Eye of the Devil, do you know if thats out on DVD or even vhs??

There really should be a Sharon Tate collectors thing-- even though she was what, a B Actress and didn't do that many movies....

I've read the book easily 13 times and have seen the movie just as often. For a while I couldn't get the murders and whole Manson story out of my head. I remember seeing the footage on the news when Miss Fromme decided to take a shot at President Ford.

Hollywood couldn't make up a story as wild and outrageous as this one was.

Apparently Sharon appeared in a few eps of The Beverly Hillbillies, but her agent and manager didn't want it to risk ruining her credibility for her movie career so she appears in brunette wigs. I always try to watch for the episodes to pick her out. It's not as easy as you'd think.

As bad as this sounds, I don't know how often I wished Polanski had been there that night and Sharon had been away. :(

Actually the movies (both) leave out quite a bit of detail - just like they all do. I guarantee you - you start reading the book and you won't want to put it down.

Mine is so worn, pages have been taped back on. (It was one of the original paperbacks - my mother bought it when it was first issued).
