The One Black Show I would say the Cosby Show has the slight edge over is Family matters, since you never had to worry about a GEEK storming through the door like on Family Matters. The Cosby Show didn;t really have any BUFOONS characters like all the other Black Shows but it was still not as watchable as the other Black shows in the 72-85 era. But Yes, Family matters is the one show that the Cosby Show is more watchable than

For me, the Cosby show has the edge over Sister, Sister. I didn't think Sister, Sister was funny and Jackee and Tim Reid didn't have any chemistry.

Great choices, I enjoyed watching Family Matters, but only for the first three seasons and Sister, Sister..I never got into that show, by that time I was almost out of high school and found it a little middle school-ish. I found it stupid that they got upset when they found out that their real father was white..

There are a bunch but one comes to mind... MOESHA! Good grief, that show was okay for the first season but somehow the show became "As The World Turns".. every damn episode was a 'powerful Moesha', 'A very special Moesha', 'An moving, touching, overdramatic Moesha'. And give me a break, someone must have owned Brandy and her mother a favor to put that non singing, non acting child on T.V. I know beauty is only skin deep but EVERY cute guy after Moesha and not Niecy who looked better than her? Only in Brandy's fantasy world.

Let's talk about the way she talked back to her father and stepmother... Hell to the no, if that was me.. I would have been holding an ice pack on my mouth. Moesha was too grown and too stupid(yeah, so grown but always gets caught) for her own good!

I don't know I didn't this in my thread but please EXCLUDE all UPN shows because we all know none of those shows are not worth watching. So just name the Black shows that aired on Major Networks like

My Wife and Kids
Hangin With Mr. Cooper
Fresh Prince
Family Matters

I don't think that The Jeffersons or What's Happening are as watchable. I love The Cosby Show and Family Matters.

Hangin with Mr. Cooper was bad, real bad. Family Matters was nothing but garbage and A Different World got on my nerves after a while too.

I liked Family Matters when it was originally on. When ever I run across it on tv now however, I just can't get watch more than a minute of it before I change the channel. I just don't find it that funny, but I can and still do enjoy reruns of the Cosby Show.

In that case, I'll go with Cosby show having an edge over Hangin With Mr. Cooper. That show was kind of goofy and not that funny. The early shows were slightly better than the later ones, but not to watch over and over again.

My Wife and Kids
The first two seasons of My Wife and Kids are great, but then towards the end the episodes just IMO got downright silly and ridiculous.

i'd say my wife and kids, a different world- and that was a bill cosby produced spin off of the cosby show-, one on one. though out of those 3, i dislike my wife and kids because it was so unfunny and badly written. the character i hated the most was the daughter, claire. i think that was her name. she was often childish and lacked immaturity on her part

the fresh prince i liked because i grew up watching that as a kid, although i didn't enjoy the later seasons with daphne maxine- reid replacing janet hubert whitten as vivian banks. it got more soppy afterwards, particuarly with nicky being a new edition to the banks family; i liked the first season of in the house especially with austin and jackie, as when they departed at the end of that season, with tonya being a regular character and the arrivel of dr maxwell stanton- played by kim wayan and alfonso ribeiro, the show got rather dull and unfunny afterwards; as for hangin' with mr cooper, i liked it a lot when i was young. it was one of my personal favourites

Ugh, not the Hillman season. That was one of the worst, they always blurted out anything Hillman like someone wanting some apple juice and Grandpa Huxtable would blurt out "They have apple juice at Hillman"

I can watch the Cosby Show over Cosby. Cosby was straight up crap!

BTW, we all have different taste, but Hangin' W/ Mr. Cooper was anything but garbage. If anything, it was underrated and doesn't get syndicated like it should.

That might be true. Back then, there weren't as many channels, and a lot of shows, who are classics now, hadn't been made yet. Or maybe it was so targeted at children, that no one over the age of ten can enjoy it! :D

I would definitely have to say A Different World. I know it was the spinoff of Cosby and everything, but it seems like after it premiered, Cosby was seeming to be like A Different World, such as Cosby being more hip-hop in its last 2 seasons, which A Different World was really known for. The same thing happened with Fresh Prince.

I honestly can't choose. It'd be a toss-up between Good Times and What's Happening...any time I see either of those come on, I immediately change the channel.

I love the Cosby Show, Different World (when it wasn't too preachy), Family Matters, and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I've seen at least one episode of Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, Steve Harvey Show, the one that the Major Payne Wayans plays in, the one with the Wayans Bros., etc. I liked all of the ones I saw.

But I do not like Good Times or What's Happening...ah heck, I choose What's Happening, at least Good Times had a semi-decent theme song. I can't even remember what the What's Happening theme was like... :D

The Cosby show is definitely more watchable than Good Times. There was a lot of wit within the Cosby show, while Good Times was uneven. Ester Rolle was superb but Jimmy Walker was cloying; the character JJ got on my nerves something fierce. If there's ever a contest for "most irritating character in a tv series" JJ, IMO, is a serious contender.

While the Cosby show had a lot of depth, I always thought the Jeffersons was more entertaining. In the Jeffersons there were some very funny characters: Mother Jefferson, Florence, Bentley, and of course George--for starters. And Louise was the perfect balance against them. Zara Cully, who provided us with many sides of Mother Jefferson, was particularly endearing; I'll always have fond memories of this fine actress.

I prefer watching The Jeffersons, Diff'rent Strokes, Gimme A Break, 227, and Amen over Cosby anyday (I used to like Cosby Show when it aired originally, but I've seen too many reruns and now I don't care for it).

I don't care for these shows: Family Matters (Urkel overkill), Hangin' With Mr. Cooper (it was good in the first season, didn't like it after Dawnn Lewis & Nell Carter left), Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (didn't like the later years), A Diffrent World (not as good after Lisa and Marisa left).
