Again, you really can't compare a book less than 15 years old with the Bible. I don't see people walking into church with CWG books instead of the Bible.

Well, of course not. The Bible is almost an institution.

But why does the fact that the CWG books are modern make them less belieavable than what is written in the Bible? A lot of the stuff in those books makes sense to me. I believe it.

But they do present some ideas that are very different to traditional Christian ones, so they'd probably never be read in a Church. Still, they are good books.

I also believe that some of the stories in the Bible are not telling about actual events that happened, but are stories that were written to teach a lesson about morality.

That's what I think too. I believe some of the stories in the Old Testament are written to express morals. Such as, the Creation Story - I think it might have been written to express the idea that man sinned, but I'm not sure that it actually happened that way. My own R.E. teacher, who was a Christian, believed that to be the case himself.

That's all you've got? This is a joke, right? What are the sources and documented information from these "crimes?"

1. "Wars of aggression." Who started the aggression? Bush or the terrorists?
2. "Torture and indefinite detention." Those who participated in mistreatment of prisoners have stood trial; many were convicted. And it's not "crime" to detain those who are shooting at U.S. troops. Over 50 have been released, too.
3. ?
4. ? So now Bush is "destroying the global environment?" Not quite, besides that would not be a crime.
5. The response to hurricane Katrina was not any slower than the response to hurricanes Andrew and Gilbert.

Come on, J, try posting a legitimate list!

Careful what you wish for, you may just get it ;) :

1: Bush authorized, under the doctrine of “preemptive war” and a policy of “regime change”, a war of aggression against Iraq. "Preventive war” and “regime change” is not recognized as a justification for war under international law. Furthermore, Bush launched a full scale war against Iraq, a sovereign state, not in self-defense or under the authorization of the United Nations Security Council. The Bush Administration knew prior to the 2003 invasion that Iraq had no connection to Al Qaeda, was disarmed, had no weapons of mass destruction, and was incapable of mounting a credible defense much less an attack on the United States. Accordingly,
the Iraq war is an aggressive war in violation of international law.

2) Bush authorized conduct of the war that involved the commission of “war crimes.” The indiscriminate use of weapons such cluster munitions, incendiary bombs, depleted uranium, and chemical weapons for which it is reasonably foreseeable would have caused and indeed caused significant civilian injuries.

3) An example of the Bush Administration actively distorting the science on global warming and extreme climate change was evident when Rick Piltz, a senior associate from a federal climate change program, publicly disclosed proof of the Bush Administration editing federal documents to distort the science. Also, Bush withdrew from the Kyoto Protocol despite the fact that the United States has only 5% of the world’s population and is responsible for nearly 25% of greenhouse emissions.

4) Access to accurate HIV/AIDS prevention information is a human right that Bush is intentionally violating. His abstinence-only and gag-rule policies are imposed on impoverished and politically and economically dependent countries of the world with the consequence of catastrophic injury.

5) On August 28, 2005, the National Weather Service sent an urgent weather message nationwide, warning of devastating damage. Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29. Electrical power in the Superdome where the city’s poor, disabled, and homeless were crammed failed, and entire New Orleans neighborhoods were submerged in water. On August 29, a levee broke, Bush was playing golf. On September 12, 2005, the Congressional Research Service determined that the Bush Administration had not taken the steps needed to trigger Stafford Act emergency assistance and disaster assistance.

On August 29, the 17th Street Canal levee broke. However, FEMA instructed outside fire and rescue departments not to enter disaster area and refused to allow firefighters into New Orleans. On August 31, the Department of Homeland Security blocked assistance from foreign countries.

Dang!! If only I could think of a reply ;)

Because you have nothing to prove..... This whole thing is about a SNICKERS COMMERICAL but yet, you found the time to talk about something COMPELETELY different.Huh?!
This thread was started based on the controversy about homosexuality in the Snickers commercial, which then led to the "born gay" debate, to which I THEN proceded to voice my opinion. I didn't start the fire. And how is talking about homosexuality completely different from the other posts in this thread which are talking about homosexuality?

I think you should mind your business and leave your "logic" out of people's bedrooms..:rolleyes:I'll stay out of your bedroom(believe me, that's the last place I'd want to be) when the homosexual lobby groups cease and desist their assault on our children and our schools with their soul-less propaganda.
As I have said many times before in threads like these, I couldn't care less what (consenting adults)people do in their bedrooms.

"Judge not."
That's from the story about the woman who was going to be stoned, right?
Actually, that text has been taken out of context many times. What the "Judge not, lest ye be judged" is saying is, don't judge someone and then be a hypocrite and do the same type thing, and don't judge maliciously.
But Jesus himself judged. What tends to be forgotten, or left off, of that story is what Jesus said at the end there, where he tells the lady(and all the people for that matter) to "Now go, and sin no more!"
Sounds like a little judging going on there.
If nobody did any judging, you'd be left with just a chaotic mess.

All that said, I like your avatar, and I love The Police!

AM I SPEAKING IN ENGLISH?!!! This thread wasn't about the evils of homsexuality, it was about a COMMERICAL!! Can you understand that? All the topic was about how one person found that the commerical bothered him, NOT ONCE WAS IT ABOUT THE SO CALLED WAR OF HOMOSEXUALS as you put it....

You then proceeded to talk even more nonsense when you said that "Kate and Allie" and "My Two Dads" promoted homsexuality:lol:  . So I guess the Golden Girls and The Facts of Life were big old lesbians huh?

You made this WHOLE useless speech about nothing, no one is talking about how bad homosexuals are, just the tasteless commerical that was only made to shock people that was all. You went on about how homosexuals chose to be that way when it fact the commerical NEVER touch that topic.

BTW: I sort of agree with you on groups like GLAAD forcing their ideas on people like kids, but at the same time the far-right is doing the same thing.. i.e:James Dobson, Fred Phelps, and so on. Both sides are gulity of doing this.. you probably agree with the lame idea that Spongebob Squarepants and Tinky-Winky are homsexuals(LMAO!)

:yeahthat

Which is stupid. They (the gay group who hated this commercial) are only making the issue of homosexuality worse with their antics over a commercial. God, can't we just laugh at commercials anymore without there being a homophobe issue behind it? From what I understood, the group responsible for help canning this commercial, disliked the original commercial that Snickers had made and therefore, Snickers came up with this one that eventually got banned. So, WTF...there is no pleasing anyone anymore.

You are so right, in fact there are some gay groups(especially lesbians) who hate the show "The L Word" because it shows too many girly girls and zero 'butches' but for years they have complained that the media only showed 'butches' and now when positive images of lesbians are showed, they still want to bitch and moan.. they also complained about "Will and Grace" and "Queer as Folk"...

I thought I could let a few members blow off some steam on this thread, but as usual, the envelope gets pushed further and further, right off the table.

No mother cracks, gay cracks, bestiality, incest, pedophilia cracks. I can't believe I have to even write that. You people are not stupid, and you know when a line is being crossed. It cheapens the site.

For anyone who thinks that I'm out to get them, you're dead wrong. I've been making a case to someone in a higher position than me, who wants to suspend three members for a month. Yes, a month. Two of the members probably hate me.

A few jabs here and there are to be expected. Many members do that, but when that's ALL you do with each other, it's nothing but trolling. Stop following each other from thread to thread and ruining it for others.

I'm not naming names here. If you recognize yourself, then you're right, you're guilty. I can't go to bat for anyone anymore. Please cooperate. This isn't some crazy insult playground.

It's out of my hands from here on. If a few of you only knew that I've been fighting to save you from a month long banishment, you'd be very surprised.
