That kinda sucks if you have the first four seasons already, give us the extras on a separate disc at least. sheesh.

Well, I'll buy it. Although, I wish they had done this in the first place, before releasing the first four seasons. I wonder what they'll do for seasons 5-8. Will they still release them seperately? And also, which will the complete series have, the B&W or color episodes for the first two seasons? It would be great if they do it like The 3 Stooges. Where both versions are on the same disc. That way, you could watch it in B&W or Color.

All in all, this is cool news. Because we know now that we will get the complete series. We don't have to worry about that anymore. Even if you choose to buy the seasons seperately or buy the big set. The complete series will be available to those who want it (and who can afford it).

It's kind of greedy the way they do it. But it is a business decision. They release the seasons with mostly bare-bones sets and then release a complete series with bonus features. It worked for M*A*S*H. I bought the big set. However, I will not be buying The Brady Bunch complete series. The DVDs I have now are good enough. And all you're getting are some of the reunion movies and a couple cartoon episodes. Those are still something I want, but I'm not willing to pay $100 bucks or more just for the last disc alone.

Through the DVDs, I've become a fan of "Bewitched." And so I'm willing to put more money into it, to get the big set.

I already have the first four seasons and I hope that this trend is not going to continue. They should have done box sets in the first place as I cannot and will not buy the boxed set after I have already bought individual seasons. I was not put on this earth to give Sony Entertainment all of my money. I hope that the remaining seasons will be available for purchase individually.

Part of me thinks this sucks big time. I live in Britain and have been buying the R1 releases. I hope seasons 5-8 in the complete box set will be released seperately along with the extras otherwise I will have to think about forking out for 4 seasons that I already own plus the customs charges that will be applied. It sickens me that companies like Sony exploit buyers who have been buying their products (supply and demand) by doing something like this. There should be a law that a complete series boxset cannot be released until 5 years after a company who has been releasing single season sets has released every season of the series that they want to release as a complete boxset. Boy I have some crazy ideas sometimes. Perhaps this is way there is still no news on a season 5 release?

There is a possiblity that the fifth season will still come out individually since this is the last season Dick York appeared in. From what I heard, the reason Sony is releasing this series as a box set is because they don't think the Dick Sargent years Season 6-8 will sell well. My question to you guys is, would you buy the Dick Sargent years if they are released individually? Or do you just care for the Dick York years? How many of you would still buy the box set just to have the entire series in one package & for the extras?

I want the whole lot but resent this move (if true) to only release the DS years as part of a complete box set. I also really resent the idea of complete box sets as a whole that feature extras not available to single season releases. I have bought all four seasons of Bewitched so far and have helped create demand for the shows continued release on dvd and this is how I and other fans are rewarded. It's like being kicked when you are down.

Good post, Jack.

As you say, the only thing which makese sense about this RUMOR -- a rumor rejected, by the way, by the great TV Shows on DVD website. Who the hell would spend their hard-earned money on those anti-Bewitched Dick Sargeant years. Maybe 10 people? And the timing on this is weird. Are they holding Season 5 -- which is really the final year for the show -- hostage to this huge box set?

Sony is a bunch of clowns. The production costs on something like this will be enormous, and no one will buy.

Interesting, I cannot imagine why Dick Sergeant is any less popular. In any event, YES. I would buy the individual seasons of Dick Sergeant.

Actually Season 8 is the last one.

I want to buy seasons 5-8 individually because I already have seasons 1-4. Actually, there's lots of good Dick Sargent episodes that I like.

Same here, I didn't mind the Dick Sargeant era.

They really should release season 5 seperatly like previous dvds (no extras) and pack the sargent years together with an "Extras Disk". (at a resonable price)

I always planned to get ALL of the series. If they release the whole series I hope they do not wait until they have put out all the seasons individually.

My personal hope is that they put the box set out and then release the rest of the seasons individually for those who want to get a certain season.

A simutanious release of season five and the entire set with extras would be great.

If they do the choice of Black and white and color, I can get the Black and White versions this time (I only saw colorized in the stores and didn't want to wait. I don;t mind the colorization but prefer original black and white).

So if they release it alongside season five, they only season I would have a redundant duplicate of are the 2 color seasons.

I know many of the Dick Sargent shows are weak, but he was the first Darrin I saw and there are many good Sargent episodes too.

I wouldn't give up on the series being released each season separately. Sony is planning to do the same thing with I Dream of Jeannie and someone over there claims they are doing both the complete series AND each season individually. Seems to me they'd do the same for both as there are a alot of similiarities between the two series.

I sent the following email to Sony about Bewitched...

"I have read on the internet that a complete boxset of all seasons of Bewitched is due to be released with a host of extras. As someone who has bought seasons one to four as they have been released I must say I am not sure whether the news regarding the boxset is pleasing to me. Can I say that I hope individual season boxsets continue as well (perhaps they can all be released at the same time?) and that the extras on the complete set are a part of the remaining individual sets. If this does not happen I will feel cheated. I have supported the release of Bewitched with many other fans by buying the show as it was released on dvd thereby creating the demand for it. To have to pay again for seasons I already own just to get the remaining seasons and the extras is not something I feel will reward fans who own seasons one to four. This would make me no longer support any further Sony releases of other shows I might like in case a complete boxset appeared with extras only available as part of the complete set and not the individual season releases."

And this was their lame reply

"Hello,

Unfortunately, we have not set a release date for "Bewitched" box set. Please continue to check back to our site, sonypictures.com, where we are consistently updating new to DVD release dates.

Thank you for your interest!"

As always, the studio has not even attempted to answer any of my questions. I never even asked when the complete boxset was too be released.

Dear Jack77, can you check with your friend at Sony to see if they plan to release the second season of Hazel on DVD anytime soon? I love that show and would like to see the 2nd season released. Many thanks, Michael;)

I have to agree with most of these replies. I have already bought seasons 1-4. I will be upset with Sony if I have to buy those seasons again in order to get seasons 5-8. If fact, I just will not buy it.

Most big fans of the series have already bought 1-4. Sony will p*ss off the most loyal buyers of series by pulling a move like that. 5-8 should also be released separatly.

Thanks to Bachu for the link to Erin's blog.

Elizabeth Montgomery was so attractive in those last couple of seasons, not to say at all that she wasn't earlier on. But I'll love having those episodes of her with long hair! :) (It was getting pretty long toward the end of the Dick York era, but she had it cut in the early Sargent period.) It's fun to see her in longer tresses and '70s fashions in the late seasons.

Anyway, I do agree that 5-8 should also be made available to be sold separately, for those who have completed or started collecting the earlier years.

The release date for season 5 is July 10, 2007. So as long as seasons 6-8 are sold individually, I'm happy. I don't care about the extras, personally.
