My wife makes a mean Jumbalaya Pasta. It is pasta with sausage, chicken, shrimp, celery and various spices to make it spicy. She got the recipe from Rachel Ray's website. It is very good.

I make delicious crabmeat-stuffed lobster tails. I buy the fresh lobster tails at the seafood store for about a million dollars. In a bowl, I combine fresh chopped crabmeat, crushed Ritz crackers, fresh parsley, melted butter, pepper, and lemon juice....an a little water to moisten. So it won't fall apart, I roll the stuffing up like meatballs.

I then place the stuffing on the butterflied lobster tails and bake until golden brown. I serve them with fresh asparagus and twice baked potatoes. I'll post the recipe for the potatoes in a while.

I just had breakfast about an hour ago, but after reading through this thread, I'm hungry again.

I have a few recipe book in my library, but I usually try the recipes on the back of packages.

The chicken pot pie recipe on the back of the Bisquick box is very easy and quite good.

Not if you get an efficiency. In which case, a gourmet dinner might be Ramen noodles with whatever scraps of meat you can find in the fridge mixed in.

There is this dish I LOVE to cook AND eat. It is soooooooo mindblowingly DELICIOUS, I cannot stand it. I wish I could eat crunchy solid foods right now, but I cannot... oh well, I will share it with you. :) It has all my fave stuff in one skillet! Yum!

Quick Chicken Skillet
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium red or green pepper, diced
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups diced cooked potatoes (appx. 4 small potatoes)
2 cups diced cooked chicken or turkey
1/2 cup PACE picante sauce
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (4 oz) shredded monterey jack or cheddar cheese

Cook onion and pepper in butter in 10-inch skillet until onion is tender but not brown. Add potatoes, chicken, picante sauce, cumin and salt; mix well. Simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Top with cheese; cover skillet to melt. Serve with additional picante sauce. Makes 4 servings.

Now... I do not follow this recipe exactly, and my variation of Quick Chicken Skillet is just as excellent. I cook the chicken first (in a separate pan) and while I am doing that, I add BOTH red AND green peppers to the skillet. I use up BOTH peppers (I love my veggies!). I don't put in very many potatoes- maybe 2 small potatoes, max. I add in a lot of onions, yummmm :) Plus, I don't add cumin or salt -- the skillet tastes just as great w/o either seasoning. ANNNNNNNNNND my mom and I make our own sauce- we don't use PACE. So everything I make in the skillet is homemade.

My god, seriously, Mel. You gotta try it. Especially when you finish cooking this skillet dish, sprinkle cheese on it and cover it to let the cheese melt for a moment or two. HEAVEN IN A PAN. :faint:

I waaaaaant some right now, dammit.

Taco Bake
In a pan, brown up about a pound of hamburger meat. Drain and rinse. Add plenty of taco seasonings and add in a can of black beans and a little water. Simmer.

Take about 6 tortilias and cut them up into fours

in a circle baking pan, layer half of hte cut up tortillas. Spread re-fried beans on the tortillias. Layer on some of hte meat mix from the begiinning onto the refried beans. sprinkle liberarly with cheese. Layer on the rest of the tortillas, and repeat. Top with plenty of cheese. Bake for about 20 minutes at 375. Server with Salsa on the side.

What a great thread! I love trying new receipes. When I'm searching for something new to try I go to the Food Network and on their site you can get all kinds of receipes.

Is there a section on this board where we can talk about the food network or receipes? That would be fun.

Fried Ravioli also known as Toasted Ravioli.

Cook ravioli according to directions...a little firmer than usual though. Cool them down in a bowl of cold water. On a plate, put Italian seasoned bread crumbs. Shake excess water from ravioli and coat ravioli on both sides with bread crumbs.

In a frying pan, heat oil and butter. When hot, add ravioli and fry till golden brown over a med/high flame. Turn ravioli over, so both sides are browned. Sometimes I add fresh garlic too.

Place raviolis on a serving dish. Pour the oil/butter/garlic mixture over raviolis. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, fresh pepper and chopped parsley. Some like it topped with marinara sauce.

You can get creative and add onion, chopped tomato, roasted pepper, anchovy, chopped broccoli, spinach, asparagus or anything in the frying pan. It's delicious. Magnifico! :happyface

This one is really easy:

BACON WRAPPED POTATOES

Peel 4 medium size potatoes, slice into 1/2 inch slices
wrap each slice with uncooked bacon, secure with wooden toothpicks. Place
each wrapped potatoe in large baking pan, salt & pepper to your taste. Bake
on 350 for 35 to 40 minutes. I put foil wrap over the pan while baking.

This isn't really a recipe, just something I make if I want a nice dessert. I buy a loaf of pound cake at the bake shop in the grocery store...or you can buy a Sarah Lee frozen one.

I cut the cake into 1" slices. I place a slice in a bowl. I pour sliced strawberries in syrup over the cake (I buy a tub of it in the frozen aisle). I add another slice of cake on top, and cover that with strawberries.

I put dollops of whipped cream around it and one on top. I then sprinkle chopped walnuts all over it. It's basically strawberry shortcake.

Some people use biscuits or sponge cake...and fresh strawberries.
