View Full Version : Mrs. Garrett on The Insider Scoobiedoo30 01-19-2007, 05:46 PM Did any one see Mrs Garrett on The Insaider Last Night cavalier 01-19-2007, 07:34 PM No, what happened? Impressions 01-19-2007, 11:39 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjAPimPWB_U  TALLguyinKY 01-19-2007, 11:57 PM Yikes......that was interesting, but I wish I hadn't seen it...I need to keep my wonderful memories of dear Mrs. Garrett clean! I Love Lamp 01-20-2007, 03:24 AM Was it really that bad? What happened? I don't want to see it if you hadn't wanted to. I'll just use my imagination. Sorry about your tainted memories. TALLguyinKY 01-20-2007, 03:37 AM Oh I'll get over it...FOL isn't ruined for me or anything, it was just a shock at first. It could have been worse, but she called Joan Collins the b-word behind her back, then The Insider played it to Joan, who didn't understand why she said it, considering they'd never met. It sure wasn't what I was expecting! lol cavalier 01-20-2007, 11:50 AM wow, I wonder why she said that? I t was cool to hear she keeps in touch w/Nancy and Lisa and they mentioned their names and pics! FOL85NatandMrsGRock 01-20-2007, 12:16 PM i think that it was kind of made up, i dunno... somethign about it didn't seem real... it was just really weird. The insider is known for making crap up, so it really wouldn't surprise me IheartBlair 01-21-2007, 01:38 AM wow, it seems like they just stirred up unecessary drama. and so what if Mrs. Garrett said Joan Collins is a bitch, she probably is! that's no reason to play her the tape back and make fake drama:rolleyes: jayman75 01-21-2007, 09:56 AM Sorry if this is a bit rude... but... It must be a slow news day at "The Insider" when Charlotte Rae's comments can rile a "fued" with her and Joan Collins. JO jr 01-22-2007, 06:12 PM I SAW IT AND IT CRACKED ME UP:rofl: I WATCHED THE RERUN OF THE SHOW AS WELL AS TAPED THE SEGMENT. I DON'T THINK SHE WAS SERIOUS. I THINK SHE WAS QUOTING A LINE FROM WHEN JOAN WAS ON DYNASTY, AND THE LINDA EVANS CHARACTER CALLED HER THAT." NOW, HAD SHE NOT BEEN ATTENDING THE PLAY BOTH JOAN AND LINDA WERE IN, I WOULD HAVE MY DOUBTS. I THINK SHE WAS JUST KIDDING, THOUGH. AND IF NOT, WELL, SHE'S 80 SOMETHING AND STARRED IN "THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES". NOW THAT MAKES ME NOT THINK THE SAME OF CHARLOTTE, BUT SHE WILL ALWAYS BE MY LOVABLE MRS. G:lol: AND TRUTH BE TOLD, IF SHE OR MY GIRLS WERE IN ANY PLAY HERE IN CHI-TOWN, I'D SEE IT. COULD YOU IMAGINE SEEING MRS. G IN "THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES"? I DON'T KNOW IF I'D BE SHOCKED, LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY OR JUST IN AWE SEEING HER:D PS: DA BEARS!!! GO BEARS-THE NEXT SUPERBOWL CHAMPS:) ecb1117 01-22-2007, 08:23 PM I assume she was kidding because the the whole thing was taken way out of context. You don't even get to see what led up to her saying that. Chances are it was a slow news day at the Insider, as someone else said. Who cares anyway...I'd take Charlotte Rae over Joan Collins any day. TV Guy 01-22-2007, 08:40 PM I don't think she was kidding - more like babbling. She actually claimed how difficult Joan Collins is to work with. I fear our dear Mrs. Garrett is starting to lose it. TALLguyinKY 01-22-2007, 10:36 PM I don't think she was kidding - more like babbling. She actually claimed how difficult Joan Collins is to work with. Maybe she was going on what she was told from another person/people who did work with Joan and maybe didn't like her for whatever reason. folbartman 01-22-2007, 10:50 PM I think it's hillarious, it shows Facts of Life viewers that Charlotte Rae is very different from her screen character Mrs. Garrett, some of you have even stated "Mrs. Garrett is getting old, senile, etc...." Charlotte Rae is no way probably like Mrs. Garrett, which her TV Screen was way to happy all the time. I think this is good eye-openers for people who think charlotte needs to act like Mrs. Garrett her character. Did anyone notice how Joan Collins said I don't even know who the old .... how???? Did ET cut off the word Hag at somepoint, I think so. They both sound pretty bitchy to me. SBTB Geek 01-23-2007, 01:16 AM That was weird, to say the least. Scoobiedoo30 01-23-2007, 01:17 PM I wish I could have seen The Insider with Mrs G blairmusica 01-23-2007, 10:29 PM Hey all, yeah Charlotte Rae really isn't Mrs. G, Hello! Charlotte is a veteran perfromer who has extensive stage and film credits. Inlcuding the 79 version of "hair" which as I recall, featured a lot of adult stuff for a "PG" film. Charlotte has often said she was more of a buddie than confidant to the girls on the FOL set, so her comment about Joan Collins, whose rep proceeds her, should come as no surprise. Plus, Charlotte is 80-something, she's entitled to appear somehwat befuddled. Remember this is Hollywood, All the FOL girls, and I do mean all Lisa, have appeared in ADULT work. Life isn't as warm and fuzzy as it was on FOL, most of the time anyway... TALLguyinKY 01-23-2007, 10:53 PM Hey all, yeah Charlotte Rae really isn't Mrs. G, Hello! Yeah, I was thinking that yesterday when some people said "Mrs. G" instead of "Charlotte", lol. I just didn't like how they painted Charlotte in the story as a "bad" guy who was trying to ruin Joan's "wonderful" reputation. JO jr 01-24-2007, 07:08 PM Hey all, yeah Charlotte Rae really isn't Mrs. G, Hello! ALSO, WHAT ADULT WORK ARE YOU REFERRING TO REGARDING LISA AND MINDY? I KNOW SOME OF NANCY, CHARLOTTE AND KIM'S WORK ARE FOR ADULT AUDIENCES, BUT PLEASE 'SPLAIN THIS TO ME LUCY. I DON'T GET IT. THANKU. PS: SHOUTOUT TO MY HOMIES, ESPECIALLY THE THREE OTHER MUSKETEERS:bighug: folbartman 01-25-2007, 04:35 PM No comment on that last post..... (Im laughing outloud.) kadeliah 01-27-2007, 05:04 PM Hey, they just mentioned this the VH1 show Best Week Ever. If you dont already know, they take news bits from the week and determine who has had the Best Week Ever. Well, they decided that this week, "Old Girls" are having the Best Week Ever and showed clips from the Insider of Charlotte making comments about Joan Collins. PrettyinPink55 01-28-2007, 01:56 AM They also mentioned it on The Soup. :) JO jr 02-04-2007, 11:46 PM Yeah, I was thinking that yesterday when some people said "Mrs. G" instead of "Charlotte", lol. DON'T JUST SKIM THE SURFACE OF THE POSTS. THERE'S USUALLY MORE MEANING TO THEM, OR MAYBE SOME JUST DON'T GET THE INSIDE JOKES. OH WELL. YEA. JO jr IS BACK:p Nighthawk76 02-04-2007, 11:58 PM YEA. I was waiting to hear from you again then I was going to respond to both PMs. I was wondering last night how many people were going to try to take their Bears' t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies back to the store. When I was at work on Saturday a whole bunch of people were buying large screen televisions so that they could watch the game on them. Now they are going to have try to return the TVs too. I can't stay up late anymore. I used to go to bed when the birds got up. Can't do that anymore though. Just too darn old. Well, not as old as you though. ;) I hope that you get back here soon, Jodi. I'll be thinking about you. :bighug: canuckkidd 02-05-2007, 03:12 PM I was wondering last night how many people were going to try to take their Bears' t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies back to the store. When I was at work on Saturday a whole bunch of people were buying large screen televisions so that they could watch the game on them. I believed and backed Rex Grossman all year and applauded Lovie Smith's loyalty to him but the Bears really do need a new QB or they will never win a Superbowl. I really thought Rex would have a decent game yesterday. I was hoping for a Bears victory since I will be visiting family in both Wheeling and Glenview Illinois this summer. It would have been nice to have picked up some championship merchandise. But oh well maybe next year! Nighthawk76 02-05-2007, 05:47 PM Sorry to all the Bears fans for yesterday's loss. I've always wanted to visit Canada. TALLguyinKY 02-05-2007, 10:08 PM I'M PRETTY SURE WE ALL KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. AT LEAST I DO. DON'T JUST SKIM THE SURFACE OF THE POSTS. THERE'S USUALLY MORE MEANING TO THEM I wasn't skimming, I was commenting on what blairmusica said. Some people out there actually do have a hard time separating character from actor, but I'm glad most people don't. canuckkidd 02-06-2007, 03:05 PM I live pretty near to Glenview and Wheeling. :) I see that you are from Canada. I've always wanted to visit Canada. Wheeling and Glenview are like second homes to me, much my childhood and teen summers were spent there and in Illinois in general. I have so much memories of going to places like Wrigley Field, Old Comiskey Park, Navy Pier, Gurnee Mills, Six Flags, Sears Tower and seeing Micheal Jordan's house in I think Highland Park (Not really his house but the gate with the number 23). I even attended a taping of the Bozo the Clown Show. Last time I went to Chicago was in 2004 to see the Bodyworks exibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. My biggest regret is not being able to watch a live Bulls game at the United Center during the Jordan years but I did see him play live in Toronto versus the Raptors. I am from the Toronto area, If ever you are thinking of coming down to visit T.O let me know and I will give you a list of nice places to see while your down here. |
