Ok, we got the obvious, O.J. Simpson killing his ex-wife and her friend, Robert Blake who got away with murdering his wife, and currently waiting trial for the murder of Lana Clarkson (2003) Phil Spector.

Murder, suicide, accidental deaths and other scandals have affected Hollywood and its celebs. So let's begin:

Blonde beauty Jean Harlow was married to director Paul Bern. He committed suicide two months after their marriage. What is haunting is the home in which Mr. Bern committed suicide, was later purchased in 1968 by celebrity hair stylist Jay Sebring, who was later murdered in 1969 along with Sharon Tate and several others by the Manson Family members.
Jean Harlow died at age 26 of kidney failure.

Rudolph Valentino died in 1926 of peritonitis at the age of 31. So young. :( Many women committed suicide when he died.

Carl Switzer aka Alfalfa from "Our Gang" series was shot and killed in 1959 over a $50 debt he owed. He was 33.

Clara Blandick who played Auntie Em in The Wizard of Oz committed suicide by suffocating herself by placing a plastic bag over her head in 1962.

The three stars of REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE all died tragic deaths. Actor Sal Mineo was stabbed to death at the age of 37 in his carport. Natalie Wood later drowned in Santa Catalina waters in 1981. James Dean was killed when he crashed his car in 1955.

:( For Natalie Wood. I believe she was PUSHED off the boat not 'fell'. I don't believe that for a minute.

Anyway enough of my little rant for a second...

Florence Lawrence(slient flim actress)-Killed herself in her '40's by eating ant paste.

Gig Young(movie actor)-Killed his wife then killed himself in 1978.
Dominque Dunne(Movie actress)-Was murdered by her boyfriend John Sweeney in 1982.

There's so many others but my mind is a blank.

She shot him and then killed herself. Yes, very sad and she was suffering from mental illness.

This is incredibly sad for those who know abt wrestling:

Chris Adkisson, a.k.a. Chris von Erich, (1991), professional wrestler, gunshot to the head
Kerry Adkisson, a.k.a. Kerry von Erich, (1993), professional wrestler, gunshot wound to the chest
Mike Adkisson, a.k.a. Mike von Erich, (1987), professional wrestler, overdosed on the tranquilizer Placidyl

John Lennon was murdered in 1980. He was 40 years old.

Selena was murdered by her assistant in 1995. She was 24 years old.

John Belushi overdosed on heroin and cocaine (speedball) in 1982. John predicted his own death several months before he died by declaring in an interview, "I just can't stop destroying myself. I am going to die young."

Oh yeah, the Von Erichs. David Von Erich died as well, but I don't think he took his own life. The whole family had problems. There is only one member that is still surviving. (Kevin Von Erich)

Marvin Gaye's father killed him, I can't forget that.

I was going to mention GIg Young, on his honeymoon he strangled his wife, than shot himself. In all of his movies he was always so sweet and charming, but from what I hear he was a rotten husband. As Elizabeth Montgomery (Samantha Stevens) who was married to him in the 50's testified too, apparently he abused her multiple times. And was a heavy boozer.

Andy Gibb (5th March 1958 - 10th March 1988) - he died of a heart infection.

Maurice Gibb (22nd December 1949 - 12th January 2003) - he died after surgery for a twisted intestine. I think he had a heart attack during surgery as well.

Karen Carpenter (2nd March 1950 - 4th February 1983) - she had a heart attack, which many believe to be because of her anorexia - although Wikipedia says that this may not have been the case.

Steve Irwin (22nd February 1962 - 4th September 2006)

Buddy Holly (7th September 1936 - 3rd February 1959) - he died in a plane crash

Elvis Presley (8th January 1935 - 16th August 1977) - he died of a heart attack

George Harrison (24th February 1943 - 29th November 2001) - he died of cancer.

River Phoenix (23rd August 1970 - 31st October 1993) - he died of an accidental drug overdose. He took the same as John Belushi - a speedball. He was supposedly given it by a friend of his in the bathroom of the Viper Room.

Freddie Prinze kills self...ruled suicide, later ruled accidental shooting due to his mental health at the time (divorce, drug use)...he was 22 when he died in 1977.

Charles Boyer, famous french actor, considered one of the movie screen's greatest lovers. He made an appearance in I LOVE LUCY. He committed suicide by taking an overdose of Seconal, two days after his wife of 44 years died in 1978. He was 78 years old. Coincidentally his son Michael killed himself in 1965 at the age of 21.

Lana Turner's teen daughter, Cheryl, killed Lana's boyfriend Johnny Stompanato with a butcher knife in 1958. It was considered justifiable homocide as Cheryl was protecting her mother's life.

Actor Jack Cassidy, father of David Cassidy (Partridge Family) and ex-husband of Shirley Jones, was killed in his penthouse when it went up in flames in 1976. He was 49. His cigarette and his drinking were to blame for the fire.

Ritchie Valens, along with the Big Bopper died with Buddy Holly in that infamous plane crash that Sharop above mentioned.

Kurt Cobain (lead singer of Nirvana) committed suicide (self-inflicted gun shot) in April of 1994. He had been depressed and contemplating suicide for so long (even hinting at it in many of his songs) and was a known heroin abuser. It was a complete shock to me, though :( It still saddens me to think of it.

Patsy Cline died in a plane crash. There is a so-called curse regarding her death. Here is a small article regarding this supposed curse:

AN EVEN longer-reaching skein of death was started by Patsy Cline. The first woman country singer to cross over to the pop charts with hits like "Crazy," Cline was riding on the success of being named the Country Music Association's "Entertainer of the Year" for 1963. Yet she would only live to enjoy life at the top for a few short months.

It started with a car crash that killed "Cactus" Jack Call, a country disc jockey in Kansas City. Some genius thought it would be a nice gesture to have some Grand Ol' Opry stars play a benefit for his widow and orphans. A whole raft of stars, including Cline, came through. But for some reason, only $3,000 was raised.

Cline planned to return to Nashville on a private plane piloted by her manager, Randy Hughes. Also on board were "Cowboy" Copas, Hughes' father-in-law and an Opry star in his own right, and Hawkshaw Hawkins, another Opry performer whose new single, "Lonesome 7-7203," would hit No. 1 on the country charts after his death.

The small plane was caught in a storm and crashed near Camden, Tenn. The impact destroyed the craft and shredded the bodies of the four on board beyond all recognition. It was only through their wallets that coroners were able to identify the three men.

Also on the bill of that ill-starred benefit was Jack Anglin, half of the duo "Johnny & Jack" that had launched Kitty Welles. No fool, he returned to Nashville via a chartered craft. But death would not be cheated. Two days later, while driving to Patsy's memorial, he lost control and plunged down an embankment. Although he was still alive when pulled from the wreckage, he was DOA at the hospital.

But not even Anglin's death stopped the toppling dominos of tragedy. Among the pallbearers at Anglin's funeral was singer Jim Reeves, who racked up 46 country Top 10 hits in the '50s and early '60s. Yet even his two-stages-removed connection to the fateful benefit was enough. Less than 18 months later, he crashed his plane in the woods near the Nashville airport while flying with his pianist. Both men were killed, victims of the far-reaching curse of Kansas City.

Rodney Harvey- drug overdose. He was a Calvin Klein model and actor. I saw him on the 80's movie 'Salsa' with Robby Rosa. His mugshot and later post mortem pics were used as tv ads for a campaign of a drug free America.

There's also the guy that played waiter on 'Dirty Dancing' and hands Lisa a book called 'The Fountainhead'; he also died of a drug overdose.

Bruce Lee and his son Brandon Lee:

Bruce Lee complained of a headache At around 7:30 P.M., he laid down for a nap. Lee was found unconcious. He was dead by the time he reached a hospital. There was no visible external injury; however, his brain had swollen considerably, from 1,400 to 1,575 grams (13%). Lee was thirty-two years old. On October 15, 2005, it was stated in an interview that Lee was allergic to Equagesic. When the doctors announced Bruce Lee's death officially, it was coined as "Death by Misadventure."

However, the exact details of Lee's death are controversial. Bruce Lee's iconic status and unusual death at a young age led many people to develop many theories about Lee's death. Such theories about his death included murder involving the triads, a curse on Lee and his family etc. The theory of the curse carried over to Lee's son Brandon Lee also an actor who died nearly 20 years after his father in a bizarre accident while filming The Crow.

And per a discussion in another thread, Bill Bixby's ex-wife Brenda Benet shot herself in 1982, likely fueled by grief over her son's death in 1981, which Janice mentioned above.

In 1983, Dennis Wilson (The Beach Boys) drowned at the age of 39. This once talented (and handsome) member of The Beach Boys had become a human trainwreck by the time of his death, which was alcohol-related.

http://www.beachboysforever.com/dennis/images/BB-4.jpg

Younger brother and bandmate Carl Wilson died in 1998 of lung cancer, which had spread to his brain. He was 52. Carl's death meant the end of The Beach Boys.

Who'd have thought 30 years ago that Brian would be the last of the Wilson brothers?

Brian Jones (The Rolling Stones' original lead guitarist) drowned in his swimming pool at age 27 in 1969. His death was officially ruled by coroners as "Death by misadventure."

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/af/Brianjones.jpg

John Bonham (drummer of Led Zeppelin) died of asphyxiation at the age of 32 in 1980, after choking on his own vomit in his sleep. Alcohol was definitely a factor, as Bonham was rumored to have had 40 shots on the day of his death.

http://www.herbgreenefoto.com/gallery/led_zepplin/john_bonham.jpg

Keith Moon, drummer of The Who, died in his sleep at the age of 32 in 1978. The cause of death was an overdose of the drug Chlormethiazole, which was a drug he'd been taking in an effort to wean himself off of alcohol. It was later discovered that he had 32 pills in his system, some of which were undissolved.

http://www.drummerworld.com/pics/drum/Keith%20moon.jpg

Keith's bandmate, bassist John Entwistle, was found dead in his Las Vegas hotel room in 2002, one day before The Who was to kick off a tour. He was 57. Cause of death was determined to be a heart attack, brought on by cocaine abuse. Entwistle, playing with fire, had a pre-diagnosed heart condition.

Bradley Nowell (Sublime) died in 1996 of a heroin overdose. He was 28. His death came just two months before the release of his band's breakthrough self-titled album. He left behind a one-year old. Senseless.

Howie Epstein (bass player for Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers from 1982 until he was kicked out for his reckless lifestyle in 2002) died in 2003 of complications resulting from drug abuse. He was 47. Tom Petty stated after his death that "He was just degenerating on us to the point where we thought keeping Howie in the band was actually doing him more harm than getting rid of him. His personal problems were vast and serious. We tried everything we could to reach him but it got to the point where his ability to do gigs was diminishing. Eventually, we realized that we were just contributing to the problem. When you're living a life where you really don't have any responsibilities, it's easy for evil forces to take over."

Someone was mentioning wrestling-related deaths earlier in the thread, there are many mysterious deaths in the wrestling world:

Owen Hart died in 1999 during a like WWE (then WWF) event called Over the Edge. He was to have gone down the rafters on top of the arena. During the stunt the strap that was supporting him snapped and he fell to his death. He was 36.

The British Bulldog died in 2002 after a heart attack. He got addicted to drugs following a back injury in 1998, never really recovered following it. He was 39.

Mr. Perfect died a year later due to acute cocaine intoxication at the age of 45. he was I was really shocked by this one because he was one of my favorite wrestlers.

Eddie Guerrero died in 2005 after he was found dead in his hotel room before a scheduled wrestling event. The autopsy showed that it was due to heart failure; years of drug use had made his heart weak. He had been clean since 2001. He was 38.

There are a lot more, but those are the ones that come to mind.

I have a book on old Hollywood stars and it mentions her death. She did in fact die of the overdose as Brian stated. I believe the toilet rumor to be something made to degrade the woman since she was a hispanic and her memory was trying to be marred by those who hated her.

Singer/guitarist Elvin Bishop had a daughter who was murdered. This would fall under Janice's post of celebrity children death:

Body of Elvin Bishop's Daughter Found
Blues guitarist's daughter found in California river
Selina Bishop, daughter of blues guitarist Elvin Bishop, was among five victims of a killing spree that began Aug. 3. On Wednesday, Bishop's body was recovered from a California river, one week after it was first reported missing. Bishop was listed as missing the day after her mother, Jennifer Villarin (Elvin's ex-wife), and her mother's boyfriend, James Gamble, were shot and killed at Bishop's apartment in Marin County, Calif., where they were housesitting while Bishop was supposedly visiting Yosemite with boyfriend Glenn Helzer.

Florence Ballard (1943-1976)

The founding member of one of the most successful girl groups of the 60's, Motown's Own "The Supremes".

Mrs. Balllard Chapman died at the age of 32 years old of a heart attack from years of drug and alcohol dependency after being bounced from the successful R&B group in 1967 by shiesty Berry Gordy along with the "help" , Diana "Fake A_ _ Diva" Ross. After several failed lawsuits against Berry Gordy and Motown, she ended up having to support her children on welfare. Just as things were starting to look up for her to make her comeback in the industry as a solo artist, tragedy strikes. Being the outspoken person that she was as well as standing up to Berry Gordy and her so-called friend Diana for the treatment she received when she was pushed in the back and eventually being fired from the group was the inspiration for the powerful role of Effie White from the musical/motion picture "The Dreamgirls" played by Jennifer Holiday and Jennifer Hudson.

Florence, you will always be the true "Dreamgirl" in my book. Finally, credit is giving where credit is due. I'm sure she would of been so proud. Rest in peace!

OMG...I must have missed that espisode... I wasn't a huge fan of the show, but I did see some episodes. What on earth was going on in the episode that they mentioned that?

I've seen it; I love Frasier. Here's the quote:

Roz: What's eating you?

Frasier: Oh, I'm sorry. It's just this thing with my father and this, this person he wants to hire. I thought I'd started my life with a clean slate. I had picture of what it was going to be like, and then, I don't know...

Roz: Ever heard of Lupe Velez?

Frasier: Who?

Roz: Lupe Velez - the movie star in the '30s. Well, her career hit the skids, so she decided she'd make one final stab at immortality. She figured if she couldn't be remembered for her movies, she'd be remembered for the way she died. And all Lupe wanted was to be remembered. So, she plans this lavish suicide - flowers, candles, silk sheets, white satin gown, full hair and makeup, the works. She takes the overdose of pills, lays on the bed, and imagines how beautiful she's going to look on the front page of tomorrow's newspaper. Unfortunately, the pills don't sit well with the enchilada combo plate she sadly chose as her last meal. She stumbles to the bathroom, trips and goes head-first into the toilet, and that's how they found her.

Frasier: Is there a reason you're telling me this story?

Roz: Yes. Even though things may not happen like we planned, they can work out anyway.

Frasier: Remind me again how it worked for Lupe, last seen with herhead in the toilet?

Roz: All she wanted was to be remembered. [beat] Will you ever forget that story?

Sam Kinison

Kinison was working to become clean and sober in the months before his death, and he married his girlfriend Malika Souiri in 1992. Just six days after the wedding, Kinison's white Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was struck by a seventeen-year-old drunk driver on US 95, four miles north of where it intersects Interstate 40, near Fort Mohave, Arizona and Needles, California. He was not wearing a seat belt, and his chest struck the steering wheel upon impact. A passerby immediately notified emergency services and attempted CPR, but with no success. (wikipedia)

BRIAN KEITH - He played the father on FAMILY AFFAIR. He had many roles in his acting career. He shot himself to death in 1997.

DEL SHANNON - Singer. His famous song RUNAWAY was featured in the movie American Graffitti. He shot himself in the head in 1990.

DOROTHY STRATTEN - 1980 Playboy Playmate of the Year. Shot to death by her estranged husband in 1980.

WILLIAM HOLDEN - Actor. In 1981 he was found dead in his apartment apparently after falling down and striking his head on a corner table, eventually bleeding to death. The cause was intoxication leading to the fall.

LENNY BRUCE - Comedian who was famous for his foul-mouth routines. He was Freddie Prinze's idol. He died of a drug overdose in 1966. He was 41 years old.

I'm surprised nobody - myself included - has mentioned Freddie Mercury yet.

On November 23, 1991, the lead singer of Queen released this statement to the press:

"Following the enormous conjecture in the press over the last two weeks, I wish to confirm that I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. I felt it correct to keep this information private to date to protect the privacy of those around me. However, the time has come now for my friends and fans around the world to know the truth and I hope that everyone will join with my doctors and all those worldwide in the fight against this terrible disease. My privacy has always been very special to me and I am famous for my lack of interviews. Please understand this policy will continue."

Less than 24 hours later, on November 24, Freddie succumbed to bornchial pneumonia, a complication of the disease.

Rumors of his illness had run rampant in the British media the previous two years, as his appearanced had become frail and gaunt.

Yes, I remember when Lynde died...I remember how strange it felt listening to that news story. (Lynde died in 1982 at the age of 55, of heart failure. The coroner said that Lynde's heart resembled that of a man about 80 years old).

I also remember when Wally Cox (1924-73) died. We were big "Hollywood Squares" fans in those days, and they had taped quite a number of shows with Cox that still hadn't aired at the time of his death. When they did finally air those episodes, a caption appeared on the screen every time Cox was called on that read "this program was pre-recorded". I think they did the same thing with Lynde, as he was still the center square in 1981 but died in January of 1982. They still hadn't aired a few of Lynde's final episodes at the time of his death either.

It was strange watching those shows knowing that Cox and Lynde had recently died. Cox was always very quiet, but Lynde was very much "alive" during his appearances on Hollywood Squares.

Both men died of heart failure.

Nobody mentioned Redd Foxx, who dropped dead of a massive heart attack on the set of his comeback sitcom, "The Royal Family" in 1991. He clutched his chest like he did on "Sanford and Son" and the cast thought he was joking because he joked on the set all the time. They did realized he wasn't joking, and rushed him to the hospital but it was too late because he was pronounced dead at the scene.

MY FAVE BLUES GUITARIST:
Stevie Ray Vaughan learned to play the guitar as a kid, influenced by his older brother, guitarist Jimmie Vaughan. By 1972 Stevie had dropped out of school and was playing blues guitar in bands in Austin, Texas. In 1981 he named his band Double Trouble, and in 1982 caught the attention of David Bowie, who in 1982 asked him to play on the hit "Let's Dance." In 1983 Vaughan released his debut album, Texas Flood, and the following year he released Couldn't Stand the Weather, a commercial and critical success. He continued to tour and record, playing a mix of electric blues, country and rock, until his death in a 1990 helicopter crash.

The list of those who have paid him tribute reads like the who's who of the music world. Among them are Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Mick Jagger and the Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, John Lee Hooker, Gregg Allman, B.B. King, Albert King, Steve Winwood, Jackson Brown, The Neville Brothers, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Lonnie Mack, Albert Collins, W.C. Clark, newcomers Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Johnny Lang, and countless others including Stevie's older brother Jimmie.

Michael Hutchence, lead singer of INXS, committed suicide at the age of 37.

Ronnie Van Zant, age 29, Cassie Gaines and Steven Gaines of Lynard Skynard all died in an airplane crash in 1977.

Nat King Cole died of cancer at the age of 48.

Frank Zappa died of cancer at the age of 52.

Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones died from drowning at the age of 27 in 1969.

Robbie McIntosh of Average White Band died of a drug overdose at the age of 23 in 1974.

Sid Vicious died of a drug overdose at the age of 21.

BILLIE HOLIDAY: 1915-1959

Jazz queen Billie Holiday turned to heroin. In 1946, she tried to kick her habit with the "help" of psychiatrists, paying $2000—a huge sum at that time—for a 3-week stay in a mental health sanatorium. Psychiatry’s "treatment" failed her. Within a year she was arrested on drug charges and her cabaret card, needed to perform in New York, was cancelled. She died while under house arrest in a city hospital.

In 1942, actor Anthony Quinn's 2 year old son (Cecil B. DeMille's grandson) drowned in a small lily pond in the front lawn area of W.C. Field's home in Hollywood Hills.

One of country music's sexiest artists Dottie West, who had many hits including, "We'll Sing in the Sunshine" and also had financial problems that caused her to lose her mansion and prized possessions including a doll collection.

On August 31, 1991, West was badly injured in a car accident. Her injuries included a ruptured spleen and a lacerated liver. West underwent three surgeries, but eventually succumbed to her injuries on September 4, 1991. There were 600 people at the funeral, including Emmylou Harris, Connie Smith, Johnny and June Carter Cash, and Larry Gatlin. A few weeks later, President George H. W. Bush offered his condolences to West's family at the CMA Awards. Her hometown dedicated Highway 56 to her memory, naming it the "Dottie West Memorial Highway".

In 1995, actress Michele Lee produced and starred in a TV biopic called Big Dreams and Broken Hearts: The Dottie West Story that premiered on CBS. While it received mixed reviews, it was one of the most successful CBS TV movies ever. In 2000, West was also honored with the BMI Golden Voice Awards with the "Female Golden Legacy Award". She was the second woman to win this type of BMI award, after her friend and mentor Patsy Cline.

Later that year, Family Feud dedicated a week of episodes to her memory.

That's interesting; I didn't know that. So that didn't really happen, then?
From what I've been able to piece together about Lupe, no, it didn't happen quite that way. I did a lot of research on her a few years ago for a project I was working on and I couldn't find any credible source that had either of the bathroom stories. Lupe really was a great actress, the Mexican Spitfire movies were a great succes for her. Her career had cooled a bit by the time she found out she was pregnant, but she was making a come back and her final movie was getting some of the best reviews she had ever gotten. It's really s a shame though that she is mostly remembered because of this story.:(

I also wanted to say that I'm surprised by a lot of the names I've seen because you don't see alot of them come up very often. I think it's great that all these people are remembered. One that I think should added though is Jonathan Brandis. His death was a big blow to all the teen girls who swooned over him during his heyday. He is missed.:(

I remember learning about her in my drama class and was misinformed about her death. I also remember people in the class laughing so hard that some fell out of their chairs about her death.

This may not be a Hollywood death since this actress was popular in Asia, but Barbarba Yung(1959-1985) killed herself in her apartment by on purpose, misusing her gas stove. Bella Darvi did the same in 1971.

in 1941, German actor Joachim Gottshalk and his Jewish wife killed(their son also died)themselves minutes before his wife and his son were to be taken away into the holocaust after someone learned that his wife was jewish. The Gottshalks sealed the windows in their house and gassed themselves to death.

Very, when our drama teacher told us that a long time ago, the whole room gasped. Rather than have his wife and son leave him, he made the ultimate decision to end his life with his wife and son. Now that is love.

He was a very handsome man, a real smooth guy, wow, all of it may have been prevented if he didn't make the mistake of bringing his Jewish wife to meet Hilter's right hand man.

Singer and Songwriter Curtis Mayfield. Best known for the song SUPERFLY, was active throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
On August 13, 1990, Mayfield was paralyzed from the neck down after stage lighting equipment fell on him at a concert in Brooklyn, New York. This tragedy set him back, but Mayfield forged ahead. He was unable to play guitar, but he wrote, sang and directed the recording of his last album, New World Order. Mayfield's vocals were painstakingly recorded, usually line-by-line.
In February, 1998, he had to have his right leg amputated due to diabetes. Mayfield died on December 26, 1999, due to complications of diabetes.

Andy Warhol

At the relatively young age of 58, Warhol died in New York City at 6:32 a.m. on 22 February 1987. According to news reports, he had been making good recovery from a routine gallbladder surgery at New York Hospital before dying in his sleep from a sudden heart attack. The hospital staff had failed to adequately monitor his condition and overloaded him with fluids after his operation, causing him to suffer from a fatal case of water intoxication, which prompted Warhol's lawyers to sue the hospital for negligence. Prior to his diagnosis and operation, Warhol delayed having his recurring gallbladder problems checked, as he was afraid to enter hospitals and see doctors.

Chris Hubbock - newscaster 1970 --- shot herself in the head during a prime time news broadcast on Florida TV station WXLT-TV. She died 14 hours later.

Terry Kath - rock musician (Chicago) 1978 --- suicide playing Russian roulette.

Yukio Mishima (Kimitake Hiraoka) - Japanese writer 1970 --- suicide by disembowelment and decapitation.

Sherwood Anderson - writer 1941 --- after swallowing a toothpick at a cocktail party he died of peritonitis on an ocean liner bound for Brazil.

John Jacob Astor 1912 --- drowned with the "unsinkable" Titanic.

Attila the Hun 453 AD --- bled to death from a nosebleed on his wedding night.

Vincent Willem van Gogh - painter 1890 --- shot himself; he died two days later.

And perhaps the most bizarre death by suicide ever in the history of Hollywood is the death of Albert Dekker...here is a lengthy history of this actor's life and the bottom will mention how he was found dead:

Albert Dekker (December 20, 1905 – May 5, 1968) was an American character actor. He is sometimes credited as Albert Van Dekker or Albert van Dekker.

Born Albert Ecke in Brooklyn, New York, he adopted his mother's maiden name of Dekker as his stage name. Whether the "Van" used in his earlier career was of historical origin in the family or was an affectation is unclear.

He made his Broadway debut in 1927, and was soon cast in Eugene O'Neill's play Marco Millions (1928).

He appeared in some seventy films from the 1930s to 1960s, but his three most famous screen roles were as a mad scientist in Dr. Cyclops (1940), as a vicious hitman in the The Killers (1946), and as an unscrupulous railroad detective in The Wild Bunch (1969).

From 1945 to 1946, Dekker served as a Democratic member of the California State Legislature, for the 57th Assembly District which included Hollywood.

In May of 1968, Dekker was found strangled to death in the bathtub at his home in Hollywood, California.

There were reports that his death was suicide or murder, and may have involved sexual deviance, but it was finally ruled that he died of accidental asphyxiation. Although a divorced father of three children, with a girlfriend at the time of his death, the circumstances of the tragedy suggested that he might have been a closeted bisexual. He was found in the bathroom of his apartment hanging by his neck at the end of the rope that was tied to the shower curtain rod. The rope, knotted tightly around his neck, was also wrapped around both of his legs and around one of his arms. His hands were bound with a pair of handcuffs, and two hyperdermic needles were stuck in his body.

How'd she ever manage to hold on to them? :)

The popular myth is her husband (Jack Pickford) said they came back to their hotel room in Paris after partying and were kind of drunk, and Olive went into the dark bathroom and grabbed a bottle which she thought was her sleeping tablets. Instead they were his mercury tablets that were used to treat VD in those days. She lived for about five agonizing days after taking them. Some think her husband may have been drunk and forced her to take them.

Yes, her name was Virginia Rappe. The story is so twisted and so hard to establish what really happened. He claimed she had gotten drunk and began acting very bizarre. He tried to control her behavior when she began screaming. She later died.

It is also said that he raped her and during the savage rape, he caused her bladder to rupture.

Also, she had supposedly had an abortion and as a result of the abortion she developed an infection and lingered for days before dying in that infamous room.

We will never know the truth.

I read that a broken ...ummmm Coke bottle caused her to die from perontitis or something. I sort of don't think that is true.

I believe the botched abortion story. She was known to be "friendly" with the guys when she first arrived in Hollywood.

There was a movie that starred John Wayne and the actress that played Endora on Bewitched, where most of those who worked on that film ended up dying of cancer of some sort. Apparently it was filmed in the desert in Nevada where there had been nuclear testing done.

Luther Vandross

I miss all these entertainers but the thing that baffles me about some of these people is the ones who used drugs and died of aids. People know what drugs does to their body but they obviously don't give a damn. Marvin Gaye, Richard Pryor, Rick James, David Ruffin were drug users. Eazy E died of aids because he was having sex with a lot of women and not using condoms. As much as he dissed women on NWA albums and his solo albums, i don't understand why he wouldn't use condoms while having sex. It's really tragic what happened to 2Pac, The Notorious Big, Jam Master Jay, Big L. All of these rappers were murdered and the police will never find out who killed them. I think Big L's murderer was captured. I know ya'll don't know who Big L is but he was a very good underground rapper from New York. The person who murdered him was after his brother and i guess the killer felt like he'd rather murder Big L to make a point to his brother. 2Pac, The Notorious Big, Jam Master Jay are missed a lot by their fans and peers. 2Pac and The Notorious Big were going to have great careers if they had lived. 2Pac's music was so powerful. He had so much to say and blacks related to him. His mom was a black panther and i think his dad was a black panther. I think if he hadn't signed with Death Row records, he would still be alive. Death Row was a ignorant record label run by Suge Knight who used to be a bloods gang member. Suge is a very ignorant bully guy and 2Pac made a big mistake signing with him. Plus another reason why i think 2Pac was killed was because he ran his mouth too much. He was dissing a lot of rappers when he was with Death Row and he wasn't acting like that until he got with Death Row. If you've heard his first 3 albums, you would see how his music was different back then because he was political. His music became very ignorant when he signed with Death Row. Jam Master Jay seemed like a good guy and i don't understand why he was killed. Run DMC are pioneers of rap music and their music wasn't ignorant and i know Jam Master Jay wasn't a ignorant guy.

I forgot to speak on Robin Harris. He is definitely missed by me. He was a legend and he died too quick. He died in his sleep. He was a black comedian and he was in the movies House Party, Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing and Mo Better Blues, Harlem Nights. If Robin had lived, he would've been in more black films because he was very funny. I saw a documentary about him that i got from Blockbuster Video awhile ago. It was a good documentary. I'll never forget the ending of House Party when he whipped Kid's ass when Kid got in the house late because he was at a party and he didn't have permission from Robin to go to the party. Robin was whipping his ass good hahahahahahaha.

OMG, I totally forgot abt Phyllis Hyman. I loved her song "You know how to love me"...she was awesome dude!!!!!!!! God, so many artists gone too soon.

On the afternoon of June 30, 1995, Hyman committed suicide with vodka and an overdose of sleeping pills. She was found hours before she was scheduled to perform at the Apollo Theatre. A suicide note read, "I'm tired. I'm tired. Those of you that I love know who you are. May God bless you." It is thought that the last part of the message was for her family and fans. Phyllis passed away just six days short of her 45th birthday.

In November 1995, Hyman's final album, I Refuse to Be Lonely, was released. Three years after her death, a posthumous album of previously unreleased songs was published. Forever With You (1998) contains smooth love songs and bittersweet ballads, mostly trying to find acceptance within a relationship.

The curse of the Playmates

By GRANT ROLLINGS
February 12, 2007

FOR most glamour models an appearance on Playboy magazine’s centrefold is the pinnacle of their career.

But the title of Playmate Of The Month seems to come with a terrible curse.

Anna Nicole Smith is one of 25 women who met an untimely death after stripping naked for the mag’s centre pages.

Three Playmates have been murdered, four have died from overdoses, four were victims of car accidents, 12 died from illness including cancer, and one died in a plane crash.

Anna’s own tragic end mirrored that of her blonde bombshell heroine Marilyn Monroe, who died at the age of 36 — like Anna, from an overdose.

Here The Sun looks at the curse of the Playboy Playmates in alphabetical order — and click on the thumbnails above to see the stars.

LINNÉ AHLSTRAND: The blonde was Playmate Of The Month in July 1958 and managed a brief movie career. But she died, aged 30, from cancer in 1967.

BETTY BLUE: Miss November 1956 was once married to adult movie director Harold Lime. She died from heart failure in 2000, aged 69.

ELISA REBECCA BRIDGES: The Playmate Of The Month for December 1994 died from a heroin and amphetamine overdose five years ago aged 28. The Playboy website reported her death as “natural causes”.

JEAN CANNON: The 38DD model died from cancer at the end of 2005, aged 64. She was Playmate Of The Month in October 1961.

TONYA CREWS: Brought up on native American reservations, Tonya became a Playboy centrefold in March 1961. She died in a car crash five years later, aged 28.

CLAUDIA JENNINGS: Claudia went from Playboy receptionist to Playmate of the Year and then on to a successful acting career in B-movies. She had a history of drug abuse, but was clean when she died in a car crash after falling asleep at the wheel of her VW Beetle in 1979. She was just 29.

CONNIE KRESKI: The former nurse and Playmate Of The Year once dated actor James Caan. Blonde Connie died of lung cancer in 1995, aged 48.

CHERYL KUBERT: The Playmate Of The Month in February 1958 is believed to have committed suicide in 1989. But the cause of death was not confirmed.

JAYNE MANSFIELD: A sex goddess in the 1950s, Jayne appeared in Playboy several times.

She later became an actress and won a Golden Globe. Three times married Jayne was decapitated in 1967, when the car she was in crashed into the back of a tractor trailer.

JONI MATTIS: Playboy chief Hugh Hefner’s former lover famously refused to disrobe during her Playboy photo session. She died from cancer aged 60 in 1999.

EVE MEYER: The former wife of movie director Russ Meyer was Playmate Of The Month in June 1955. She went on to produce one of his most famous films, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! She died in a plane crash, aged 48, when two planes collided on take-off in Tenerife in 1977.

DONNA MICHELLE: The Playmate Of The Year in 1964 was 17 when she first appeared nude in the magazine. Donna went on to become an actress and died from a heart attack aged 58 in 2004.

MARILYN MONROE: The official cause of Marilyn’s death in 1962 was probable suicide due to an overdose of sleeping pills, but many people believe she was murdered. Her appearance in Playboy in December 1953 was not her own decision. Hefner had bought nude photos taken of Marilyn before she was a famous actress.

MERLE PERTILE: The redhead was a Playboy centrefold in January 1962. She died aged 56 following heart surgery in 1997.

WILLY REY: The Dutch-born model died from an overdose of sleeping pills in 1973, aged 23. In the Playboy article in February 1971 she admitted to “feelings of insecurity about my future.”

GLORIA ROOT: She was jailed for smuggling cannabis into Greece in 1970, a month after her Playboy centrefold. She died, aged 57, from cancer last year.

PAT SHEEHAN: The former actress and model dated a string of famous men, including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley. Playboy’s Miss October 1958 died a year ago from a heart attack, aged 74. She had also suffered from cancer.

GAIL STANTON: The daughter of a deacon at a Southern Baptist church was Playmate Of The Month in June 1978. Gail died aged 42 from a colon blockage in 1996.

DOROTHY STRATTEN: Dorothy was 1980’s Playmate Of The Year and in the same year was found shot dead by her her possessive husband Paul Snider, who had also shot himself. Two films were made about the 20-year-old model’s violent death.

STAR STOWE: After appearing as a Playboy centrefold in February 1977, things went horribly wrong for Star. She started taking drugs, became a prostitute and was found strangled in 1997, aged 40.

TERRE TUCKER: The slender brunette was Playmate Of The Month in November 1963. She died in 1990, aged 46, reportedly from cancer.

SUE WILLIAMS: The shortest ever Playmate at 4ft 11in committed suicide just four years after appearing in Playboy. The actress died in 1969, aged 23.

CAROL WILLIS: The part-Cherokee model died in a car crash in California in 1971, aged 20. She was July 1970’s Playmate.

LAURA YOUNG: The brunette was October 1962’s Playmate. She died from cancer in 1999, aged 61.

PAIGE YOUNG: Aged just 30, Paige died from an overdose of sleeping pills in 1974. The wannabe artist was Miss November 1968.

:( For Natalie Wood. I believe she was PUSHED off the boat not 'fell'. I don't believe that for a minute.

I think she did actually fall. Robert Wagner adored her and Chris Walken was their guest, there's no reason why either of them would want to murder her. They were all admittedly very drunk that night. I think Natalie stumbled off the boat and fell.

Here's where I think the shady part is: The people on the next boat heard a woman scream and were about to go out after her - but then they heard men's voices calling, so they figured she'd be alright. I think Walken and Wagner may have been aware something had happened, probably called to her, but were too drunk to realize the situation, or do anything about it.

That's just my little theory anyways

I went down to theatre that night anyway and people were taking pictures of the marquee which still had Phyllis's name on it under The Whispers. I remember many people brought flowers and placed them on the sidewalk in front of the Apollo. Sad day.

One of my all-time favorites, Robert Walker, died of doctor's negligence. He had been drinking and the doctor gave him drugs that caused his body to shut down. He was 32.

And then there's the Gone With the Wind cast: Leslie Howard, Clark Gable, and Vivien Leigh all died young.

Saw this on several sites. This is truly a tragic and bizarre story. :(

Primula Rollo was born in England in 1918, the only daughter to Lady Kathleen and Flight Lieutenant William Rollo.

During the summer of 1940 whilst she was a member of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, she met David Niven, a member of the Rifle Brigade who was on summer leave in London. David's first memory of Primmie was of a face of beauty and sweetness with a perfect complexion, the bluest and merriest of eyes, long blonde hair and with a divinely willowly figure.

It took only ten days for David to realise that Primmie was 'the one' and his proposal of marriage was welcomed by both Primmie and her parents. After an announcement of the wedding in The Times newspaper, David and Primmie were married at Huish Church on the Wiltshire Downs. The best man was David's dear friend Michael Trubshawe.

David used to say that he was the luckiest man in the world, but it was only when he met Primmie that Trubshawe agreed, he thought her kind, fun, radiant and the perfect English Rose. David was exceptionally happy with Primmie, she gave him a sense of purpose and stability and they were hopelessly in love.

After returning to Hollywood alone in December 1945, Primmie followed a few months later with their children and they set up home in Beverly Hills. During a trip to Clarke Gable's retreat Primmie wrote to her father saying she'd never been happier.

It was during a party at Tyrone Power's house that a terrible accident occurred. During a game of sardines (hide-and-seek), Primmie mistakenly walked through a doorway thinking it was leading into a closet, but instead it was a flight of stone steps leading to the basement. After her fall an ambulance was called and Primmie was taken to the hospital. Sadly she died the following day, 21st May 1946 of a fractured skull and brain lacerations, she was just 28 years old. David was left alone to raise their two young sons, David Jr and Jamie.

David never forgot Primmie, he would often talk about his love for her and on the last evening before his own death, while in the company of his daughter Kristina, he suddenly started to recall how he had met Primmie, the love he had for her and how different his life would have been if she had not died.

Acquaintances have often described David's six years with Primmie as the happiest of his life.

Yeah, everybody was pretty shocked when they arrived to the Apollo only to find out Phyllis had taken her own life that morning. I have always heard that she was depressed because of all the weight she had gained and she always wanted a husband and kids, which she never had. She was also depressed because she had such a hard time getting a record deal with a big name label since PIR and Arista had dropped her in the late 80's.

Brad Davis, an actor who was in one of my fave movies of all time MIDNIGHT EXPRESS...He was also in ROOTS. He was a great actor.

Robert Creel Davis (November 6, 1949 - September 8, 1991), better known as Brad Davis, was an American actor. He was perhaps best known for his role in the 1978 film, Midnight Express.

In 1985 Davis learned that he was HIV-positive. Fearing that he would be unemployable if word of his condition became known, he shared the information only with his wife, Susan Bluestein Davis, whom he had married in 1976, and a few close friends. He received medical treatment from a doctor who came to his home; and later when he required hospital stays, he checked in late at night and used his given name, Robert Davis.

The treatments were unsuccessful, and, according to Robert Pela, Davis ended his life by committing an assisted suicide at his home in Studio City, California, on September 8, 1991.

Actor Bruno Kirby:

Born Bruno Giovanni Quidaciolu in 1949 in New York City, he was the son of actor Bruce Kirby. His early work included the 1971 film “Young Graduates,” as well as appearances on the television show “Room 222” and the made-for-TV movie “The Summer Without Boys.”

In 1974, he scored a role in “The Godfather: Part II,” which won several Academy Awards, including best picture. In the film, Kirby played young “Pete Clemenza,” following Richard S. Castellano’s role in the first installment.

Over the next few years, Kirby made various TV appearances, including “Fame” and “Hill Street Blues,” before landing the role of “2nd Lt. Steven Hauk” in Robin William’s “Good Morning, Vietnam.”

That was followed two years later by the romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally,” in which Kirby played Crystal’s best friend. In 1991, Kirby once again appeared as Crystal’s cheery friend in “City Slickers,” — along for a mid-life adventure driving cattle on a dude ranch.

He also appeared in 1997’s “Donnie Brasco,” and recently in an episode of the HBO hit series “Entourage.”

For Jack Wild, success came early and big. Discovered by an agent while playing soccer in a London park with his older brother, Arthur, Jack was enrolled in a actors school and began going on auditions at the age of 11.

As with many other boy-actors in the London area, he was cast in the stage production of "Oliver!," and joined with hundreds of other castmates at the audition for the film. Jack won the plum role The Artful Dodger, and was nominated for an Academy Award for his efforts.

At the Hollywood premiere of "Oliver," Jack was introduced to puppeteers Sid and Marty Krofft, who decided that Jack would be the perfect young actor to play the lead in their upcoming saturday-morning kids program, "H.R. Puf ’n' Stuf." Jack and his brother left London for the US, and moved in with Marty Krofft and his family while they filmed 17 episodes of the series plus a feature film based on the show.

A true sensation, 15-year-old Jack Wild became the darling of the teen magazines with a profitable recording contract and active career in films, including a starring role in Alan Parker's first film, "Melody"

After a few years, Jack faded from the limelight, and as with many of his idol cohorts fell in to several years of obscurity, depression and alcohol abuse. In the '90s, he re-emerged, clean and sober and sought a comeback as an actor. He appeared in several plays and also began making appearances at collectors shows signing autographs and spread news of working on an autobiography (that never emerged.) Look for him in in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves"

Tragedy struck Jack in 2004, when he was diagnosed with mouth cancer and had dramatic surgery that left him mute. He remarried and seemed to be doing well, though, sadly, the cancer came back and he passed away on March 1, 2006.

DID YOU KNOW:
• Jack was several years older than his "Oliver!" co-star, Mak Lester, but he was so short and apeared so youthful that the movie's producers had him wear lifts to make him look more mature

• It took three weeks to shoot the complicated "Consider Yourself" sceen in "Oliver!"

This story is so sad...even though Richard Farnsworth was 80 years old, he took his own life because he felt his suffering was unbearable...I especially loved his performance in the James Caan movie MISERY:

LINCOLN, New Mexico (AP) -- Actor Richard Farnsworth, a former stuntman and two-time Academy Award nominee, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday night. He was 80.

Farnsworth, who had been involved in filmmaking for more than 60 years, was nominated this year for an Oscar for best actor for his performance in "The Straight Story."

Lincoln County Sheriff Tom Sullivan released a statement Friday night saying Farnsworth died at his home in Lincoln, about 250 miles southeast of Albuquerque. Police did not release any further details, but Farnsworth's fiancee, Jewely Van Valin, was at home when he died.

"I was just in the other room and I heard the shot," she said in a telephone interview from Farnsworth's home. "He was in incredible pain today. He was going down hill."

Van Valin said Farnsworth was diagnosed several years ago with terminal cancer, which had left him partially paralyzed. He struggled with the pain while he was working on "The Straight Story," she said.

"He was very ill in that movie, but phenomenally he made it through. He didn't want the world to know he was sick," Van Valin said.

"He couldn't fight it, and cancer got him."

Oldest leading actor Oscar nominee

Farnsworth had said the heart of his performance in "The Straight Story," came from his respect for Alvin Straight, the real-life person on whom his portrayal of a 73-year-old man who rode a tractor across the country was based.

"I admired him very much and tried to be as much like his character as I could, talked to two of his boys, who are now truck drivers, and we filmed along his actual route. Every time we stopped somewhere, people would come by and say, 'Heck, I remember when old Alvin came through,' and tell us about it," he told The Associated Press last March.

At 79, Farnsworth was the oldest leading actor to receive an Oscar bid. "Titanic" star Gloria Stuart was the oldest performer ever nominated when she was nominated for supporting actress at 87.

"It feels a lot better because I'm getting up there in age and might not have a chance again," he said in an interview after he was nominated in February.

The Oscar went to Kevin Spacey, who won for his portrayal of a suburban father in "American Beauty."

It was the second nomination for Farnsworth, who was nominated for the 1978 film "Comes a Horseman." Henry Fonda had been the oldest leading actor when he was nominated at 76 for his role in "On Golden Pond."

Farnsworth was a poor student who dropped out of school during the Depression at age 15 and went to work as a stable boy at a polo barn.

Stuntman for 30 years

Two years later, in 1937, two men from the Paramount studio came by looking for ponies and mentioned they needed someone who could ride horses on film. Farnsworth took the job, which paid $7 a day, about what he had been making per week.

The Los Angeles native was a stuntman for more than 30 years who moved into acting at age 57, appearing in "The Grey Fox," "The Natural," "Tom Horn," "Resurrection," "Rhinestone Cowboy" and "Anne of Green Gables."

His 50-year-old son, Diamond Farnsworth, followed in his footsteps and has become a top stuntman, doubling for Sylvester Stallone in the first two "Rambo" movies.

Since his appearance in "Comes a Horseman," Farnsworth has acted in nearly three dozen films and TV movies.

In 1990, Farnsworth moved out of his home of 40 years in the Hollywood Hills and came to the outskirts of Lincoln, a town of 565 in the foothills of two mountain ranges that is known for Billy the Kid's famous escape.

He was so good in Anne of Green Gables. I couldn't imagine a better Matthew Cuthbert. He was also terrific in The Straight Story. I was shocked when I heard of his suicide; I saw it on the news that night. :(

"You made a woman meow!??"

Chris Penn was found dead in January 2006 at the age of 40. Drugs played a part in his death. His brother is Sean Penn and his other brother is the musician Michael Penn.

Chris Penn's credits included "Rumble Fish," "All the Right Moves," "Footloose," "Rush Hour," "Corky Romano" and "Starsky & Hutch." He also played Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in the 1992 Quentin Tarantino crime drama "Reservoir Dogs."

Although he was not as well known as his brother Sean, 45, critics said he often was underrated.

"Just as talented as Sean - just a lot less cocky," Slate magazine critic Cintra Wilson wrote of him last year. He "makes you seamlessly believe in characters so much you barely even notice them."

Penn's late father, Leo Penn, directed television shows. His mother, Eileen Ryan, is an actress whose credits include "I Am Sam," "Magnolia" and "Parenthood." His brother is musician Michael Penn.

Comedian Mitch Hedberg who died of a heart attack due to drug use. Too many comedians die too young...why???????????

Comedian Mitch Hedberg was found dead in a New Jersey hotel room March 2005. He was 37.

The comic — who bore an uncanny resemblance to Rush frontman Geddy Lee and once explained the reason his was not a household name was because most of his fans lived in apartments — spent much of his career straddling that fine line between cult status and relatively larger stardom. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Hedberg was known for his disheveled hippie look, his relaxed, almost sedate stage manner, and his dawdling delivery — his face forever concealed behind a pair of shades and a wall of floppy bangs.

Much like Steven Wright, Hedberg was a master of the sharp-as-glass-shards one-liner ("Rice is great when you're hungry and want 2,000 of something"; "I would imagine if you understood Morse code, a tap dancer would drive you crazy"; "When someone hands you a flier, it's like they're saying, 'Here, you throw this away.' ") His comical, almost-too-obvious observations about life's subtle peculiarities inspired Time magazine to declare the stand-up comic "the next Seinfeld" in 2000.

A frequent guest on Howard Stern's morning radio show and "Late Show With David Letterman," Hedberg's résumé also included several television and film roles, including appearances on FOX's "That '70s Show," the NBC comedy series "Ed," and the animated shows "Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist" and "Home Movies."

Hedberg also lent his voice to Comedy Central's "Crank Yankers," played the Eagles' road manager in the film "Almost Famous" and wrote, directed, produced and starred in the 1999 independent film "Los Enchiladas!" The film centered on a small Mexican restaurant in Minneapolis, where Hedberg's character, a drifter, was working as a cook until he suddenly found himself in charge of the joint after the manager attacked a customer and the chef left for a better job.

Hedberg's first television appearance came on MTV's stand-up series "Comikaze," a gig he landed by personally pitching his act to the program's talent coordinator. In 1997, he won the grand prize at the Seattle Comedy Competition. Years of headlining club tours followed, and Hedberg eventually secured a development deal with FOX to create a sitcom, though that project never came to fruition. In 2003, Comedy Central Records issued his albums Mitch All Together and Strategic Grill Locations, and sponsored a tour with Hedberg, Lewis Black of "The Daily Show" Dave Attell of "Insomniac."

"He had a heart of gold," his mother, Mary Hedberg, told the Pioneer Press. "He was a brilliant comic and a wonderful person."

Hedberg joked often about drug abuse, but in a recent interview, he said he'd given up smoking marijuana several years ago. "For 10 years, it was amazing, but then I had to give it up because it didn't feel as good," he said. "The audience thinks I'm stoned all the time and I have to write my material that way ... so sometimes, when they come up to me after a show and ask me to join them, I just tell them I'm an undercover cop."

According to an article published in the Los Angeles Times in 2003, Hedberg spent two and a half days in jail, and six weeks in a hospital bed, following his arrest in May of that year for felony heroin possession. But Hedberg said he was arrested for "possession of paraphernalia and pills and things like that. My actual bust was minor. I got a misdemeanor. People used that bust to try and prove that I was busted for having, like, a kilo of heroin on me."

According to lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in Fayetteville, Ga., the deaths of WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel were the result of a double murder-suicide, WWE.com has learned.

Benoit failed to appear both at Saturday’s live event in Beaumont, Tx., and WWE’s Vengeance: Night of Champions in Houston Sunday night, after informing WWE of a family emergency. Several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning prompted concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, VP of Government Relations for WWE, Inc. Hering, in turn, spoke with Fayette County sheriffs Monday, and requested that they respond to the Benoit residence to check on him and his family.

Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel. WWE was notified of the discovery at approximately 4 p.m.

At 10 p.m. Monday night, Lt. Pope held a press conference in conjunction with Scott Ballard, the district attorney for Fayette County. The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home.

WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

The three bodies have been received by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab, in Decatur, Ga., where autopsies will be performed Tuesday morning. Toxicology reports will not become available for at least two weeks.

WWE.com has further information relating to both the investigation and the cause of death, but the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has requested that WWE.com not release any additional details at this time.
