Your friend may be speaking about Little Palm Island. The resort has no phones or tv's etc. It was on the Travel Channel with Samantha Brown.

From the opening credits that island is Coconut Island and is in Hawaii, not Florida. Your friend is mis informed.

Matt, I agree with you that it is in Hawaii. However, I was speaking about the island in Florida as an island that one can have the "real" experience of Gilligan's Island, meaning no "single luxuries." A real Gilligan's Island not THE Gilligan's Island.
