I hate what they used! They spelled maude with all lower case letters, put a symbol in the d, I believe it is, and just used photos of Bea Arthur that remind me of the Brady Bunch opening! Those phots were good, but the title of Maude should be the EXACT way it was written in the opening credits in orange, if they decide to use the same colors. That is the only thing I would change about the cover out of everything I saw.

looks good to me and will easily stick out on shelves and i assume they dont wanna use orange on every seasons cover art which is why its the color it is..i think it would look horrible to have the same font type and color for every set

Now we're finally getting it and people still look for reasons to moan and groan.

And Rue wouldn't have to be the only other star featured on the cover, but I think including her could give the show more notice.

Just FYI: my suggestion for a different cover with Rue and others has nothing to do with a preference of mine. I'm happy with the cover as it is. I'm just suggesting a way of generating more sales.

Either way, be happy the show is being released. In the end, it's what really matters.

Yes, she had a husband. He wasn't the star of the show in its first season. Later on, he was just as popular on Maude as Maude was. The same with Edith on All in the Family. and maybe faster The Jeffersons. The Jeffersons Season 3 Dvd Came Out 2 Years After The Season 2 Dvd Was Came On Dvd. the first 3 dvds were

now season 6 is coming out in march 2007 almost 5 years after season 1 came out and they have 5 seasons left to put on dvd

True enough, but me personally (and I realize I'm only speaking for myself), I'd rather have discussion about more fun things, like what fave episodes people have from Season 1 that they're looking forward to, or if they feel the series got better as it went along. Things like that would be a display of appreciative anticipation for the release instead of the moaning and the groaning. But then again, I'm moaning and groaning about the moaning and the groaning (funny eh?).

Either way, I'm really looking forward to this release...

I Am Still Deciding on If Iam Going To Buy It Or not. I Have All In the Family Season 2 and 5 on dvd And I Have The Jeffersons season 2,3 And Season 5 on dvd and i just orderd Season 1 at Boarders. But I Dont Know If I will buy Maude season 1

It doesn't make sense because Maude had a Husband which was Bill Macy and the Co-star. Archie wouldn' be on a front cover of a DVD without Edith or George without Weezy

Not only that, but Bea Arthur has kept quite a huge profile since Maude, and they're probably trying to capitalize on that, whereas the others haven't been as much. She's even more well known for The Golden Girls.

This sort of thing happens all of the time. It's like Season 5 of Three's Company where Suzanne Somers was featured prominently on the cover instead of Jenilee Harrison, who, by rights, should've been on there instead. Jenilee Harrison isn't as widely known as Suzanne Somers, however, and Anchor Bay probably figured that Chrissy fans might have assumed that she wasn't in Season 5 (not every fan has memorized the seasons like other diehards) and would've lost out on potentail sales. In the end, it's sales that count.

I don't think it's a big deal either. I like the cover and it's quite funny and in keeping with the spirit of the show. I'm sure as the seasons progress (hopefully; Season 2 isn't a sure thing unless Season 1 does well), we'll be treated to more ensemble covers, especially with Rue McClanahan as Vivian, again emphasizing her for fans of The Golden Girls who might not even know about the show or Rue's involvement. Putting Esther Rolle on the cover to Season 2 as well could potentially draw fans of Good Times (and no, this isn't a cue to start the "Is Good Times a spinoff of Maude debate?" :rolleyes:)

I'm all in favor for whatever helps sells the thing. I'm just so sick and tired with starting a TV series collection and hearing that it's been cancelled due to low sales. Who the heck wants an incomplete series? Sure, anything is better than nothing, but if we can have it all with a few marketing strategies, then I think they should be employed.

May we all have Seasons 1-6 of Maude to go along with our complete sets of Good Times and Sanford & Son (or whatever other complete series that's out there, like Three's Company or The Golden Girls).

It's clever how they used the female symbol to complete the "d" in her name to keep with the spirit of the show.


That would be great to have all seasons. It's really annoying and frustrating when they don't continue releasing the rest of the seasons because of low sales (they're better than no sales) or they take forever to release them because of the music rights or some legal B.S., like Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley and Mork and Mindy.
