View Full Version : Worst year in high school?
KristinHerreraFan 12-18-2006, 02:27 AM What was your worst year in high school? I would definately say freshman year. Filled with "required" classes and immature bitchy two-faced people, and you get picked on a lot. In my sophomore year it got a lot better.
You can also state which one was your best year.
moeee 12-18-2006, 02:47 AM I think you said it best. Being a freshman was terrible for me as well.
My best year was a senior, i was ready to get outta there! lol
PZelda 12-18-2006, 02:47 AM Hmm, what the hell? I'll reply to this. :)
Hands down, my worst year was also freshman year. I didn't mind the required classes. Yeah- it was a pain in the ass, but really not that bad at all. (But did I really NEED to take a required keyboarding class for the FIFTH YEAR IN A ROW when I was _ALREADY_ typing 90 WPM?) The main reason I hated freshman year so much was because a dear cousin of mine died three weeks into that school year, and it was especially hard for me to deal with her passing. I preferred to be a loner after her passing that year, so people would single me out and make fun of me. I even got called a lesbian because they never saw me hanging out with any guys (I didn't hang out with any girls, either, but that's not how they saw it) - that seriously hurt.
I had been in a relationship with a guy for a large chunk of my eighth grade year and at the end of that year (two weeks before eighth grade ended), the guy decided to be an ******* and he chose the coward's way of dumping me , so after that I swore not to date AT ALL in high school. I was still pretty bitter over the nasty breakup and made sure I stuck to that all through high school, and that's just what I did. So I think that's how people at school came to the conclusion I was a lesbian.
Best year in high school... oh wow, I'm not sure. Sophomore and junior years were both really freaking awesome. I always have a hard time choosing between the two, because I seriously had the best time of my teen years when I was 15 and 16. Everything went right my sophomore year, as opposed to freshman year. I could do no wrong that year. But junior year was just as equally awesome... Sigh.
Karen* 12-18-2006, 03:14 AM Sophomore year. It was the first year in HS where I lived in the house I live in now. I moved out of a house I enjoyed, loved, and cherished for almost eleven years and at the time, I felt my life went along with it too. That year I got into more fights than usual with my parents and siblings. On top of all that I got stressed from taking on difficult classes as well as getting involved in student government. I spent most of my days crying over those things, as well as over little things or no reason at all. I even thought about suicide occasionally. Junior and senior year went better, but since sophomore year, all I thought about was getting out on my own. Well, I'm a freshman in college now and nothing's really changed. If anything, I feel like I'm going through worse things than I did three years ago. I don't know. Maybe I'm just not used to adapting to certain things.
Fleet 12-18-2006, 05:01 AM I picked "Freshman." But there were only 3 choices when I went to high school (10th, 11th and 12th grades).
I think I liked the middle grade best (11th) because I was by then familiar with high school and there was no pressure of graduation/grades which happens in the final year.
Fleet 12-18-2006, 05:03 AM Sophomore year. It was the first year in HS where I lived in the house I live in now. I moved out of a house I enjoyed, loved, and cherished for almost eleven years and at the time, I felt my life went along with it too.
Yeah, I can relate to that. I've lived in the same house for 40 years (since Oct. 9, 1966).
80sTrivia 12-18-2006, 06:45 AM Mine was my sophomore year... not sure why, but it just was...
Already Gone 12-18-2006, 09:06 AM Junior year. I had a couple teachers that I didn't like and it just made that year drag.
I loved Senior year.
Sterling Holobyte 12-18-2006, 09:52 AM Freshman year was definitely the worst for me. I went from a private elementary school where the teachers actually cared about what you were doing, to a public middle school where the teachers couldn't have cared less. And most were a**holes, but that's ok I guess, because most of the students were too. Talk about culture shock!
Best was probably senior year. I had three study halls a day that year - one during the last hour - so I could always get my homework done before going home; things were more relaxed because, hey, it was senior year and we all knew it would be ending soon; and I had begun to take more of an interest in my appearance that year, and noticed that girls started looking at me more. ...And not with disgust like before.;)
FOLrocks1 12-18-2006, 11:05 AM I've loved every year of high school so far. Actually my current year (senior) has actually been the most boring so far.
Number 9 Dream 12-18-2006, 02:06 PM Freshman year (1996-1997) was the WORST. I hated it because I had just moved in to that district and had no friends (and I hated the area in general). I also got really sick that year, so I connect that illness with that period in my life. It just sucked all around.
I think my absolute favorite year was junior year (1999) :) I had definitely established a great group of friends that I could sit with in classes or lunch, English class was awesome, and the junior trip to Washington, D.C. was really fun. That junior trip was how I became closer to the girl that would become my best friend too.
~LadyJess~ 12-18-2006, 02:13 PM None of my high school years were that bad but if I had to pick I'd say freshman year. Now if we were talking all grades...7th grade was by far my worst year.
Nighthawk76 12-18-2006, 02:20 PM I would have to go with senior year. At that point I just wanted to graduate and be done with high school.
Brieannas21 12-18-2006, 02:32 PM I would have to say that I enjoyed all of my 4 years in High School. It kinda sucked when I got to my senior year because some of my friends who were older than me and had graduated. But I still had more in the same class as I. But High School wasn't all that bad.
Now middle school, that's a whole other story, 8th I hated with a passion
Nighthawk76 12-18-2006, 02:36 PM Now middle school, that's a whole other story, 8th I hated with a passion
Yeah, me too.
EmoJoe 12-18-2006, 04:22 PM im in 9th grade now...so yeah. but so far its been ehh. not great, but not terrible either. a mix of good and bad. it was really bad a few weeks ago, but its pretty good now.
Chocoholic 12-18-2006, 04:28 PM All of high school was a living hell for me. I hated middle school too. My best years were grade school and college.
vashti1999 12-18-2006, 04:46 PM Senior year, only because that was the end of an experience that I would miss somewhat.
dragster58 12-18-2006, 05:21 PM I have to admit I loved high school..........I had the wildest times in that long lost period!!! Hi Kathy...I know you're looking on sweetie *WINK*
MsOrange 12-18-2006, 05:47 PM Junior
But really, they all sucked.
tdf4077 12-18-2006, 05:47 PM Well, in terms of grades, my worst was freshman year 'cause I didn't care...I got a B+ in PE (my only B in junior high/high school/college).
Socially, however, I'll say my sophomore year. I moved from the city I was born and raised in (in Illinois) the summer before sophomore year. I don't make friends easily, so sophomore year, I had to start all over again and make new friends. I was so insecure, I spent most of the time dating a real loser, too (who cheated on me for several months, but I was too naive to realize this). Plus, the new school (in Ohio) didn't think that I could handle honor's classes (even though that's what I had been taking at my old school), so they put me in all intermediate until the next year. That, of course, screwed up my 5-pt gpa possibility.
So, sophomore year by far and away.
julian bozo 12-18-2006, 07:03 PM My Senior year was the year from Hell. My mom was diagonosed with cancer the previous summer. Mean teachers, mean classmates,I sure was glad it was my last year.
Brad Russ 12-18-2006, 08:35 PM I never went!! Did my High School time in one of those Alternative Schools for "at risk kids", as people often labeled us. Every year was great, because there were only three kids per class, all the kids could relate because they had the same problems, we got all the one on one time with the teacher that we needed, free snacks, could listen to music in class, and we watched a ton of movies. Oh yeah, and it was only three hour days. Alternative School's kick butt!!
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 12-18-2006, 10:53 PM Freshman and sophomore years were pretty amazing, especially sophomore, but since junior year it's sucked. Senior year sucks too.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 12-18-2006, 10:54 PM ha we were talking in journalism how highschool is supposed to be the best 4 years of your life and some other kids and I were sitting there like "if these are the best 4 years of my life, I'm screwed." seriously, I hate that saying. If anything they're the worst 4 years.
freshprinceofLA 12-19-2006, 06:44 AM im in 10th grade its been my worst highschool yr so far. dont get me wrong I like most of my teachers but i got some hard classes. some teachers get on my nerves. I got 2 D's already so gradewise its one of my worst years i'd have to say.
I liked freshman year a whole lot better than 10th grade so far. My school is grades 7-12 so they dont really notice if you're a freshman or no so 9th graders dont get picked on much
Yooch 12-19-2006, 11:15 AM All were good, but the toughest was probably ninth grade--adjusting to, and keeping up with the academic demands of being in high school.
GARFIELDKOOL 12-19-2006, 11:29 AM Freshman year, by far. I was in a new school, and all my friends from middle school were in different schools. We had three choices for high schools, and most of us got our 2nd choice. So basically, I was a loner for a few months. I knew some people, but they weren't the type I would hang around with.
Karen* 12-19-2006, 02:05 PM I'm surprised a lot of people chose freshman year as their worst year in high school. Personally that was my best year.
-*Forever*- 12-19-2006, 02:12 PM Freshman and junior were by FAR the worst. Freshman, I was still in love with someone I had left behind, I had the worst teachers you can POSSIBLY get in this school [honestly, sometimes I look back and just cannot figure out how I handled that with the worst teachers EVER], I had TERRIBLE friends... holy ****. Just everything about it was awful. I wanted to kill myself all the time. Junior year, my whole life changed, but for the worse... it's something that to this day is ruining my life, but this year could get better. Last year, I had pretty good teachers and pretty good friends, but all in all, it was horrible.
And now I'm just like "Hi I want to die" but as I said, it could get better.
Sophomore year was the best, but not by default - okay, listen to this schedule.
Study hall - First period study hall. What could be better? No homework at home. Plus, it was in one of the food classrooms, so we occasionally got food.
Gym [odd days] - Okay, second period gym SUCKED, but Kelly, one of my best friends was in the class.
Creative Writing [even days] - This class was a JOKE. First of all, we were in the computer lab every day. Second of all, as long as we handed in SOMETHING, we got good grades. I could write journal entries and hand them in for grades. And third, my best friend Jacki was in the class. SO FUN.
Global - Jacki was in this class too. Plus, we had the craziest global teacher in the whole school, he made this sort of thing actually FUN.
Math - Okay, so I didn't have a friend in my class, but it was a repeat of what I had done the year before, so it was easy and I had the best math teacher in the school.
Bio - OKAY. THIS CLASS WAS ****ING AWESOME. Jacki and my best friend Genna were both in the class. There were about 10 kids total. Our teacher was super leiniant. The other kids were the most hilarious, obnoxious kids EVER. It was just... holy ****, I would do anything to get that class back.
Bio lab [even days] - Read above.
Free [odd days] - I had it with Genna. This was before the "you can't sit outside" rule. So basically, it was us buying food and sitting on the big wall outside Mr. Austin's room. Awesome? I think yes.
English - OKAY HI I HAD MR. AUSTIN. Who, if you don't know, is like my favourite teacher EVER in the entire world and yeah. Plus, at the time I had a crush on him. Genna was in my class. The class was easy. HULLO.
Acting Workshop - Again with Mr. Austin and Genna. ACTING CLASS. With a bunch of other insane thespian kids. REALLY, what more could you ask for?
I know this is the longest post EVER, but I had to say it
Brian 12-19-2006, 02:27 PM Freshman year because I was bullied a lot on the bus and at school. But that changed when those people picking on me left during the first half of my sophomore year. After that, it was smooth sailing and the happiest years of my life thus far.
SBTB Geek 12-19-2006, 06:12 PM Definitely my junior year. I was drowned in work. Almost all of my classes were AP, it was SAT/ACT time, and I had to start working on my scholarship and college app.'s.
Outside of high school... freshman year in college made me ill. Because I was unaware of the registering process the first sem., I ended up taking nothing but BS classes and spent most of the spring and summer semesters trying to catch up.
Then... since I had a pretty good job and made quite a bit of money, I was sooooooooo tempted to drop out.
Titania 12-19-2006, 07:05 PM junior year...swamped with work, sats, college aps, scholarship aps, etc..
i loved freshman and sophomore years...senior year was a mix- lots of good stuff, but also LOTS of drama.
(ps- yes im still alive!! just havent been on here in AGES)
Mr. Television 12-19-2006, 07:20 PM I picked Freshman even though I had that grade in Junior High. All 3 years of Junior High sucked and that was actually the best out of those years but still.......bad memories.
Hollow 12-20-2006, 12:52 AM freshman year. to sum it up as briefly as possible, i wanted myself and everyone else dead, and i got close enough to making that happen.
Sophmore year was the worst. I got sick and threw up my lunch in English
class right before Thanksgiving break. They had to clear the classroom, it
was that bad. I didn't want to go back after the break but I had to. I thought
I'd really get ribbed about it but only a couple of people gave me a hard time.
dawsongirl 12-28-2006, 12:54 AM Sophomore. The classes were awful, my friends didn't talk to me as much...and in my school, we were basically freshman all over sgain because my 9th grade class was the last in the high school; the next year 9th grade was in middle school.
Freshman was the best! Guess I'm weird. lol
dawsongirl 12-28-2006, 12:59 AM Outside of high school... freshman year in college made me ill.
My freshman year of college was unbearable. Actually, all but my last year was. Too many bad memories.
felicitylen 12-28-2006, 03:15 AM My worst year in high school was my freshman year. I think it had a lot to do with adjusting to not being in middle school anymore. My junior and senior years were the best!
