Check your local listings for Soul Train. Instead of showing repeats of recent episodes, they're showing classics from the archives. This weekend they're showing a 1975/1976 episode with War and The Main Ingredient. It's coming on at noon today (Saturday) on channel 11 for people here in NYC.

I agree they could've picked a better one than this. I sat here and watched the whole thing, barely recognized any of the songs they played, just a couple from War. Hopefully if they continue to show more older shows they'll pick some better ones than this. Still, I recorded this one and holding on to it.

I just read that this week's show will be from 1986, featuring James Ingram and Levert. The one after that is supposed to be one from 1974 featuring my man Al Green.

And the Isley Brothers, right?

Some people may want to see that show since Gerald Levert recently died.

Fred Williamson and Jim Brown didn't appear on this episode, but this was still the best one they've shown so far because of Al Green. He knows how to put on a performance.

Did anyone catch the Jermaine Stewart/Pebbles episode a few weeks back? Unfortunately my DVR didn't catch it, and I missed it. If anyone can help me out, I'd be most appreciative.

I was just wondering why are they showing Ventage Soul Train has Soul Train been Cancelled

"Soul Train" is on the verge of cancellation. Ratings in recent years have been poor (averaging bollow 1.0) and stations have dumped "Soul Train" to middle of the night time-slots (e.g. 1:00 a.m.). Tribune, the distributor of "Soul Train" has been considering cancelling it for some time now. Don Cornelius decided to counter his sagging franchise by allowing old episodes to be aired. Personally, "Soul Train" has become one of those shows that makes you say "That show is still on the air!?"

Yeah, I can't say I'm dying to see people dancing to 50 Cent.

Here in my area, it airs at 2 am. Though WGN Superstation airs it at 2 PM Saturdays. I think we can see it more on WGN now that there are no more chances for baseball to preempt it.

My goodness, I can't help but notice this is the THIRD WEEK in a row that an episode has featured "For the Love of Money" by The O'Jays. Not that I'm really complaining, though. LOVE that song. I just find that interesting. This week it was apart of the Soul Train line.

Does anyone know the name of the asian girl dancer who appeared in the 70's and 80's Soul Train? She had that real long hair. I am unable to find any info on her.

I'm still not sure what time we get this here. I wanna see it. It's good that they're showing vintage episodes instead since the current shows aren't worth the video they're shot on.

Shows today's youngsters who only know of "r&b" as that crap that they play on MTV how it's done. Showing Al Green, Rick James, pre-trainwreck Michael Jackson and the like lets younger listeners know there is so much more to r&b music than Usher and Chris Brown.

LOVE the old classic episodes. I only wish Don would release them on DVD because for people like me that work Saturday afternoons, I can't always catch these vintage shows. I was lucky enough to see a few though. Average White Band. Patrice Rushen. And who can forget Shabba Doo. Man, I miss TRUE performances like when Stevie Wonder and Richard Pryor or the Jacksons or Al Green would be on the stage. 36 years???? Wow. That is truly amazing. What a legendary show. I stopped watching it when all the new hosts started coming on. Can't even say I know how many hosts have tried and failed to recreate that vibe that only Don Cornelius had.

I love watching the old episodes. I make sure to catch it every week. It airs three times on Saturdays here: 1:00PM, 10:35PM, and 12:35AM. I usually catch the afternoon one and lemme tell you, it's not too long before I'm up dancing with the show lol.

Those fashions are just effing awesome. I love it when they show somebody dancing their ass off with a 'fro bouncing back and forth like there's no tomorrow.

There was also one of the episodes when they featured "For The Love of Money" and they had everyone dancing with dollar bills.

There's also this song... "You Don't Have to be a Star (To Be In My Show)"... I love this song so much, I've played it frequently and it's all because I saw it performed on Soul Train last Saturday. I find that song very addictive. And "Mr. Melody" by Natalie Cole... another song featured.

I loved Billy Davis and Marilyn McCoo's performance. Even though Marilyn started lip-synching a few bars too early lol

Hi,

"The Best Of Soul Train" is still airing. I have been recording it onto DVD for months adding it to my previous large collection of "Soul Train" episodes. I now have approximately 90 DVD's containing more than 200 episodes of "Soul Train" from the 70's and 80's. Many of the episodes have original commercials from their original broadcast. Let me know if anyone has an interest in this set.

I also have some "Solid Gold", "American Bandstand", "Americas Top 10 with Casey Kasem", "Friday Night Videos", MTV from the 1980's, "Tops of the Pops", and more. Am especially interested in trading for anything similar. PM me here or email me at videotradeblog@aol.com

I've worked with above seller, and must say I've been pleased with the transactions so far.

I finally found out where Best Of Soul Train is airing in my area, it's so trippy and fun seeing episodes from 30 years ago.

When was Jody Watley on?
