View Full Version : Joyce on Inside Edition
mstewart 12-12-2006, 12:57 AM Wow! Joyce is still angry over what went down between her and Suzanne Somers after 26 years. She needs to move on. Also, she is still mad about how it ended for her. Suzanne had moved on and made up with John Ritter she should make peace with Suzanne so she can moved on. It was the three of them that made the show except the sex jokes got tiring and Suzanne's dumb act got progressively worse especially in season 4.
sunshinefizzy 12-12-2006, 09:29 AM When was this???
Ireneparalegal 12-12-2006, 11:24 AM Was it Inside Edition or THE INSIDER show?
I know that last week the Insider was going to repeat for the millionth time that interview they did with Joyce where she got upset abt Suzanne's name being brought up and she walked away from the interview. I had made a thread abt this several months ago.

Just proves she is a LOSER
FOLrocks1 12-12-2006, 10:32 PM IN all fairness, I haven't seen anything recent with Joyce and we really don't know what her feelins are now, so....I do think though that if she hasn't tried to move on somewhat, she should. But then again something TERRIBLE could have happened at that time that we don't know about, and she could have every reason to still be pissed.
LuLu Rogers 12-13-2006, 04:40 PM Just proves she is a LOSER
Just because you don't like someone doesn't make them a loser.

Yeah i don;t like her because she is PETTY and IMMATURE. She is too old for that
Scoobiedoo30 12-13-2006, 04:55 PM I am sorry to say that I missed The Special on Joyce Dewitt on Inside Edition does anyone know if The Inviewer will be showed on Inside Edition Weekend
LuLu Rogers 12-13-2006, 04:57 PM Yeah i don;t like her because she is PETTY and IMMATURE. She is too old for that
I agree that she should've gotten over it by now, but she was deeply hurt. Some people take longer to get over things, but I wouldn't call them immature, they're just holding a grudge.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 12-13-2006, 10:17 PM What exactly happened? Did she say she was mad at her in the interview or did she just get angry when asked the question about Suzanne? No one really seems to be considering the fact that maybe she has moved on and the reason she got angry is because she's sick of it being brought up because it won't allow her to move on. Don't jump to conclusions like that about people you don't know...

I remember watching the E True Hollywood Story on Three's Company about three or four years ago and Joyce was still raw about the whole thing about Suzanne Somers and the way her time on the show ended for her. If she didn't want to talk about Suzanne all she had to say is, "I preferred not to talk about it." Giving the suddenness of John Ritter's passing she and Suzanne should made amends not necessarily being the best of friends but bury the hachet. It's been over 25 years. Too bad for Joyce because Hollywood missed out on a great actress and we, as fans, got cheated because of Joyce's anger that is still lingering and have not done much of anything since Three's Company.

I've watched it before and I never really got the impression that she's still really angry at Suzanne, just that she was upset about what had happened. Of course it's going to seem like the whole fight is fresh when they're interviewing them right then and there about it. Besides, I think the THS was filmed at least 8 years ago.

Personally I still think Joyce is still mad at Suzanne for all that had happened because on Inside the subject came up and she answered in a rather hostile and defensive way. I understand some of the anger to a point because of the way Janet was written at first. They wrote her as heavy handed and plain Jane looking when in fact Joyce DeWitt is an attractive actress and a good one at that. When she got rid of that godawful perm after season 3 we saw more of Janet's features and she became more likable. Janet loosen up. Those early episodes I do not care for because of Janet's character and Suzanne's character was getting dumb down by the season. With Priscilla Barnes coming on the show Janet grew her hair out, dressed better and was more likable. The show overall during the Priscilla Barnes years became more mature and not full of sex jokes.
Mr. Television 12-15-2006, 12:19 AM The whole thing is just sad. I know I have been more of a Suzanne fan around here but the truth is I like Joyce too. After 25 years you would think that a lot of that hurt would have faded. What happened happened. They can't change it. All they can do is change the future. I just hope that one day I'll be able to see Joyce and Suzanne sit down and do an interview together. The show made so many people happy over the years. It's just sad that the stars don't have the same experience.

It is really sad, I hope some day that they can reconcile and do an interview together. It would be nice, especially if it happened around Christmas.

Given that two of her co-stars passed away around two years of each other, John Ritter and Don Knotts, would cause Joyce to talk to Suzanne. I think the whole thing is more on Joyce's end. Suzanne had moved one and admit looking at the whole mess in its proper place that she did not handle the situation very well. From that she got two sitcoms, She's the Sheriff - not that great and Step by Step - good family entertainment that lasted 7 seasons, and redeemed herself.
Scoobiedoo30 12-15-2006, 12:45 PM I know this is really Sad time is to Short for them to still be Fighting

Edster2973 12-27-2006, 09:58 PM Guys, try to give Joyce some credit, ok? She isn't holding a grudge against Suzanne for what happened back in 1980. She's just appalled at Suzanne's current behavior and has chosen to not have anything to do with her.
For starters, Suzanne was asked if she'd be willing to participate in the BONUS FEATURES of the Three's Company DVD sets by giving an interview that would serve as a tribute to her "dear" friend  John Ritter. She and Alan Hamel "tactfully" stated that she would only do so on the condition that she get mucho bucks for it. She has every right to do this, I suppose, but doesn't Joyce also have a right to be appalled by this as well?
I can't speak for Joyce but I suspect she thinks Suzanne is trying to cash in on John Ritter's memory, all the while smiling and saying how grateful she is that they mended fences before he died. I think Joyce sees little difference in the Suzanne of today from the Suzanne of 1980 and would rather not have that kind of person in her life. It doesn't mean she is stewing at home, fuming about the past. I think she lives her life and is content with her career (a healthy one in the theatre) and just happens to speak candidly about how she misses her dear friend (John Ritter) when asked. I think she chooses not to discuss Suzanne because she's too much of a lady to do so. As much as it would shed some light on Suzanne's true nature, Joyce is afraid it would also make a mockery of John's memory, so she chooses to say nothing about. When talking about the show, she'd rather focus on how great John was, not the ugliness that Suzanne still brings about to this very day.
Also to note, whenever Suzanne is asked to speak about Three's Company, she always makes sure she has her new products that she's peddling along with her. Gilbert Gottfried made mention of one such instance the day it was announced that John had died. While being interviewed for her reaction to his death, she later promoted products that she was selling. Kind of tactless, no?
Don't get me wrong. I'm sure Suzanne misses John as much as anyone (I'd like to think so anyway), but I think she plays up her grief a tad too much to gain the public's sympathy. And given that Joyce has been silent about her since John died (mysteriously so in fact), it's also easy for Suzanne to sway the public into thinking that Joyce is the unforgiving, cold one and Suzanne is really like Chrissy Snow at heart and just wants to make up and talk about how wonderful John was. All done with a smile to boot. Then the inevitable happens where the tribute to John turns into an infomercial as she segués to her line of diet books or anti-aging hormones. Her sadness and "love" for John is all part of her PR machine and she knows most of the public will fall for it, hook-line-and-sinker.
I also think most of the show's cast feels the same way. Notice she has not appeared with one former member of the show since John died. Why is that? Could it be they all feel similarly? Suzanne has caused her own exile. She is someone who, at the very least, separates herself as a business first. And when greats like John Ritter and Don Knotts pass away, at the very least they should be given enough respect to not have their deaths be used as vehicles to peddle Suzanne's own business.
It's still all about $$ to her. She has that right, of course, but I think Joyce and company have a right to be disgusted by her behavior as well. I know I am and I love Chrissy Snow...

Fat chance. For one thing, if they had made up and were in each other's good graces, the least Suzanne would do is acknowledge that since it puts Joyce in a bad light. Also, any time the feud between the two is brought up, there is always a revisit to what transpired between Suzanne and the show, and it puts Suzanne in a non-positive light. She worked hard to stop the public from hating her and would like nothing more than to put what happened to her (especially the part that she played in her exile) to rest.
They have NOT made up...

There isn't any. I saw the whole thing in its entirety, and right after the statement about cats, the subject was switched. If you only see up to that point it does feel like the conversation was cut short, but it wasn't. They immediately go to the next subject.

You are right I think there is a side of Joyce that alot of us fans don't know about and the way she handled that crazy fan was real admirable. Most people would have called security but she didn't. In history, there are alot of people who were misunderstood, for example Tsarist Alexandria Romanov, the wife of the last Tsar of Russia Nichohlas II. People thought she was cold but she was really shy. She did charity work that the Russia people didn't know about. Of course there was that lie that went around that Rasputin and her had an affair which turned out to be wrong. She was also a good mother and spent alot of time with her 5 children.
Sorry to go off base but I'm just trying to say that like Tsarist Alexandria, Joyce is misunderstood too and I bet there is alot of good things about her that alot of us fans don't know about. I think since Jack and Suzanne had a reconciliation we want a "they lived happily ever after" ending with Joyce and Suzanne too. But for reasons that we do not know about, because we don't know these women that may not happen.

sodalake 01-02-2009, 11:52 PM It is easy to say that Joyce Dewitt should make up with Suzanne Somers, but I have some anger towards a former employer/co-worker on some issues that I don't think I will ever get past. It still is hard to cope with what happened and I don't think I will ever have the desire to be on friendly terms with them again.
