View Full Version : Anybody else sick??
Brad Russ 12-05-2006, 01:51 PM I feel like total crap right now!! I took my temperature earlier this morning, and I had a 101.4 degree temperature. Last night it got all the way up to 101.9. My mom and one of our roomates is also sick, and they both stayed home from work yesterday, and are staying home today as well. I use to love this time of the year, but for some reason, for the last three years, I have gotten sick in December or January, and the worst part about it is, it usually lasts for about two or three weeks. I even got a flu shot this year for the first time since I was a little kid, and I seem to be sicker this year, then Iv'e been at anytime over the last 10 years. I'm feeling nauseus, dizzy, and Iv'e been getting migraines for the last three weeks. Let me just tell you, throwing up while you have a pounding migraine, is definitely not fun!! :( Anyway, is anyone else here sick, and do you have any tips for getting over it?? I could really use any help I can get right about now.

PZelda 12-05-2006, 03:02 PM I'm currently getting over this cold. It started over Thanksgiving, and then I had a mono relapse that Saturday and Sunday (two weekends ago). My cold was in full force last week on Monday... oh god, that was terrible. Right now, I just have the occasional runny nose and nasty coughing fits. :(

Oh yes, mono, the kissing disease. I had that once when I was a kid, and it sucked!! My whole body broke out in little red rashes, and I thought I had the measles or something. I'm glad you don't have to deal with that anymore. Hopefully you'll get over your cold very soon. It sucks waking up with your head in a giant pool of snot. Feel better soon!!

I hope you feel better. Usually, it seems like I get sick in the beginning of the year with the flu or a bad cold(either January or February). This year, it was in October when I had a bad case of shingles on the left side of my back and chest.
The only thing I can tell is you is, force fluids once you are able to keep them down. Try some ginger ale to settle your stomach.
Kay Scarpetta 12-05-2006, 07:19 PM It's December 5th. As of 3 days ago I have bronchitis and a sinus infection... December 5th, I'm right on track. I'm usually sick from December to March every year.
I have an immune deficiency. No, it's not as bad as AIDS, but it's pretty crappy. I'm missing like 90% of the hemoglobin in my blood which wards off colds, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc.
Feel better, Mel!
DOPEY85xxx 12-05-2006, 07:39 PM i have Lupus and the last 3 days have been miserable it feels like having a flu kind of worse.
friendsfan77 12-05-2006, 08:07 PM I've only had the flu twice. I wouldnt wish it on anyone. It's. Pure. Hell.
Nighthawk76 12-05-2006, 10:20 PM I'm sorry you're sick Brad. :( I'm sick too. My sister came home from school yesterday and she was sick and she still is. I hope my mother doesn't get sick. I don't feel well. I haven't slept in the last few days. I'm under WAY too much stress over my stupid medical insurance. I tried to not stress over it, but I have. My stomach is bothering me. I wish I could sleep. I even tried taking medicine to help me sleep and that didn't help. :( I hope I'm better by next week.
I hope you feel better, Jen. :)
dawsongirl 12-06-2006, 12:48 AM I have a persistant runny nose. It's worse outside in the cold, so naturally, I'm outside a lot at work. My damn nose hurts.

Aww....stress sucks. I hope you figure out something soon so you can feel better.
Must just be that time of year, everyone's ill over here too. :(

Brad Russ 12-06-2006, 08:53 AM Thanks so much to everyone for the well wishes, it really does mean alot to me!! My mom and roomate both went to the doctor yesterday, and they both have bronchitis, and my mom is also suffering with a sinus infection, as well as an inner ear infection again. She gets an inner ear infection every year. Last year right around this time, it got so bad, that her blood pressure went up to 230/120, and she couldn't even walk. We had to call an ambulance, and this was only a couple months before her heart surgery, so I was pretty scared to say the least. :( Luckily, I was able to talk her into going to the doctor yesterday, because he said that untreated, she eventually would have gotten an pnemonia. I'm going to keep a good eye on her though, and hopefully nothing like that will happen again. The doctor told her she needs to take the rest of the week off, so I'm happy that she'll finally get a chance to just rest and relax a bit. Makes me feel better to know she's home, and I don't have to worry about her.
To PZelda, Kay Scarpetta, Dopey85xxx, Jen, dawsongirl, and anybody else here who is sick, I'm so sorry you guys' aren't feeling well, and I hope you all get better real soon!! I'll be sure to say some prayers for you!!
Chocoholic 12-06-2006, 10:17 AM I hope your mom and everyone else who is sick gets better soon.

Thanks Kristen!! I'll be sure to pass on your get well wishes to my mom. I know she'll appreciate it!! :)
Btw, just so everyone knows, I'm feeling much much better today. I think alot of my sickness was due to the fact that I was taken off a couple of my medications recently, and was going through withdrawels. Anyone who's been through that, knows it's hell, but I think I'm all better now. :)
Brent88 12-06-2006, 03:18 PM I think I'm coming down with a cold here too. Runny and stuffy note, and a bit of a sore throat. Ugh. It was warm last week and then cold and I think that caused it.
Mr. Television 12-07-2006, 12:47 PM I've been feeling under the weather the last couple days. The weather here goes up and down so much it's a wonder everybody's not sick. :(
FOLrocks1 12-08-2006, 11:08 AM I have the worst luck in getting sick. Winter hasn't even officially started and Ive been sick three different times. A month and a week ago I had a slight cold and knew it was all starting. Two weeks ago I had the flu for a good three days and last week I had a BAD cold. It's still affecting me a little today. My voice sounds stuffy, which I HATE, and my nose is still either runny/stuffed up AND I'm still coughing lol. Usually I get sick 4 or so times during the winter, well I'm already up to 4 and it hasn't started yet!
tdf4077 12-08-2006, 08:05 PM I've had a cold of sorts for the past three years.....
...or so it feels.

Damn, you should call the guinness book of world records. I think you might just have the longest running cold in the worlds history. LOL!! Anyway, I truly hope you feel better soon!! :)
Here's a little update on me. I took my temperature a couple hours ago, and it was 98.3 degrees, so it looks like I'm finally back to normal. My mom and roomate are also feeling much better. Thanks again to everyone for the well wishes. I know all the good vibes sent my way, definitely helped me to get better. :D
swedeace 12-09-2006, 05:33 PM I've had a couple of fever chills the last couple of months from pounding headaches. Other than that, I haven't been all that sick. I last had a cold circa February or March of this year. I think part of it is that I have been working out, so that helps me out tremendously! Seriously, it makes a difference for anyone to get motivated and get less chance of being sick.
tdf4077 12-09-2006, 06:08 PM Yay! I'm glad you're feeling better! Now take care not to get sick again!

Thanks tdf4077!!! :) I'll definitely be taking better care of myself. Iv'e already cut my cola intake in half, and have replaced it with water, and orange juice. Iv'e also been working out more, so I'm sure those things will definitely keep my immune system in much better condition. :D
That brief cold snap we had here yesterday left me with a cold sore on my lip.
I always get cold sores. This one came out of nowhere. I felt fine yeaterday, and this morning, bingo, there it was.
I look hideous. You might as well write "I have herpes" on my forehead with a sharpie.
;)

I hate cold sores. I don't get them that often but when I do it's bad. I normally get them when I am really stressed.
