View Full Version : Almost 2007 and i still haven't found an answer to these 5 questions
TVFactFan 12-01-2006, 12:48 PM Why did the Show make so many references to the Waltons?
Why was Esther Rolle Missing in the ep-"The Enlistment"
Why The Guy who played Henry Evans didn't return for James Funeral ep but appeared in OTHER eps during that season
Why the show no longer had TAG scenes after season 1
Why was Ralph Carter missing in thr ep-"My son the Lover"
I'm disappointed in myself for not finding these things out yet. lol
NOTE: Please don't TRY to answer none of these QUESTIONS unless you have a SOURCE. I'm not really looking for an answer just speculation.

I believe the references to the Waltons was the fact that they were "advertising" the show since it was on CBS.
the answers to the rest of your questions...WHO CARES!!!! Maybe Esther and Ralph were very ill for the tapings of those shows.

You don't care but I do-lol
Ireneparalegal 12-01-2006, 02:01 PM You don't care but I do-lol
Well, it is possible they were ill. I have read abt shows many times where a script was written around a character because of an illness or injury. Or at the last minute, the character was just not written in because they were too ill to shoot the scenes. It happens all the time.

Well, well, welll......you're not much of a researcher if you haven't found those answers by now. I thought you had ALL the answers....or knew where to go to get them....LOL
Lamont 12-01-2006, 05:02 PM you are not likely to find these things talked about in magazines
b/c noone cares
they are not gonna have an article entitled ESTHER ROLLE to miss next weeks episode of Good Times--- its not important
and it happens all the time with all sorts of shows
people get sick, they have schedule conflicts, they are just not in that ep for some reason
most people just watch the show and enjoy it and dont focus on insignificant things that happened 30 years ago

I agree. It wasn't as significant back then as it is now. Nowadays, you have so many magazines, entertainment shows, blogs, internet sites, etc. to give you updates on shows, behind-the-scenes, gossip, actors/actresses who are ill, pregnant, what shows they will miss for whatever reason, etc. Nowadays, you hear abt an actor missing maybe two shows because of some "personal problems" or family member who is sick. Back then, it was like "who cares".

I totally agree, people have personal lives and sometimes things happen.

Please go back to the Trading Board. You proved that you have no qualifications to be on a TV show Board

False, it was a section in the Jet that dealt with Celebrity News. So I have to disagree. I just haven't stumbled across the Right Mag yet-lol

Things like WHAT i wanna know-lol I blame the True Hollywood Story for this and not closing up a lot of HOLES-lol

I understand that. JET is a total different magazine though. It had all black entertainment news, and back then, there was not many programming that dealt with black issues or had an all black cast. So, JET would be your only bet, but even that I doubt JET would have that kind of information as it wasn't something significant. By significant, I mean, was there an illness that Esther was dealing with that caused her to miss a taping? Was it diabetes related? Was there an illness or death in her family? Did she have an engagement elsewhere? Those are the kinds of information I can see JET putting in their magazine as far as why so and so was missing from an episode. Ralph Carter, like I said, was probably sick. His role was probably so small in that episode, the writers just didn't put him in it. If one is sick, that takes priority over a scene being shot. Especially with a child/minor.

Probably not for Ralpgh but for Esther Rolle I can see that Info being in there
Brian Damage 12-01-2006, 07:26 PM Solomon, all you have to do is match the dates between Good Times and Jet. The episode was probably taped sometime in September or October.

there aint no reason to get personal or get ugly
Qualifications to be on a tv show board? get real, I watch TV, there, Im qualified!
Last time I checked ONLY THE POLITICAL BOARD was by request only, and i think all members are free to post on all the other boards
we might not agree on details, but we both like the show and theres no reason to not play nice

I just don't like talking to negative people. And you are not qualified to be on a TV Show Board because if you were you Original Post would have not been the way it was. What was with all the-"You won't find that info" or No one cares? I need to see none of that on here. If you are going to be negative go back to the Trading board. We don't need you on Here
Lamont 12-03-2006, 08:48 AM Negative? not at all--- just disagreeing with you, and if you read the replies--- others have felt the same way as me and they didnt get singled out with insults. Sorry you took it so personally.

But I'm not looking for a DEBATE and that's what it seems like you look for in any thread you post in which is why I think something is wrong with you. There has never been a member on Sitcomsonline like you EVER in all my 4 years here. Like I said, just stick to TRADING and leave the TV stuff to the people who know how to discuss it

I do but it was nothing to debate. I just was stating what would like to know someday about the show and Lamont says-"You will find it and who cares" I don't have time for none of that which is why he should just stay on the Trading board

But sometimes, some things are better left unsaid. You can think it, just don't say it because that's how fights get started. I can see if you two were joking around, but this is stupid lol

I just wish he keeps his a$$ on the Trading Board-lol
Lamont 12-03-2006, 04:28 PM thank you briennas21 for the kind words
and YES it really is stupid for one person to insult someone over a tv show
SOME MEMBERS think that THEIR opinions are somehow more important than others--- PLEASE NOTICE, when tvresearcher posts his opinions on things--- I ALWAYS show him respect and respond to the ACTUAL ISSUE Being discussed
i never insult him, or tell him to go away, or use bad language--- i just wish that HE could show me the same courtesy and respect that i show to him
ALSO notice that others agreed with me and said the same thing as me--- BUTTTT for some reason, I am the only one who gets singled out by the personal attacks
come on, we ALL have a right to post on the tv boards if we follow the rules, and personal attacks are not called for
