View Full Version : Who did you like more: Natalie or Tootie?
A.D.A. Casey Novak 11-28-2006, 11:19 PM I've been reading alot of the posts and it seems like most posters predominantly focus on Blair and Jo. I do think the Blair/Jo relationship is what propelled Facts throughout the seasons. Lose Jo/Blair, there is no FOL. Lose Nat/Tootie, there could have still been a Facts.
My question is this. Who did you like better, Natalie or Tootie? As for myself, I like Nat WAY better than Tootie. I think she's funnier and more personable. And I DETEST that episode about the latch-key kid where Tootie (who was I guess about FIFTEEN) was telling off the mother. That is without a doubt my least favorite FOL show because of that scene where Tootie is yelling and telling this woman she's a rotten mother. God, I hated Tootie in that episode.
So, if you had to lose one (Nat or Toots), which would it be?
Nighthawk76 11-28-2006, 11:22 PM I like both Natalie and Tootie, but I would say that I perfer Natalie. Still, FOL will always be about Jo and Blair for me. :D
folie_a_deux 11-29-2006, 01:21 AM I like Natalie much better. She has a lot more personality. I never really liked Tootie, actually.
Brieannas21 11-29-2006, 01:23 AM I would have to say Natalie, she was the funniest out of the girls.
Gilda 11-29-2006, 08:43 AM I still like Tootie the least. She had her moments but she was mostly annoying with her eavesdropping, snitching and being over dramatic. Natalie on the otherhand, was one of the funniest people on FOL.
sofie_ms2005 11-29-2006, 10:50 AM I would choose Natalie over Tootie. I find it amusing to see her laugh at her own jokes. I thought Tootie was really funny too during the earlier seasons of Facts.:)
Brian Damage 11-29-2006, 10:53 AM I definitely choose Natalie over Tootie.
canuckkidd 11-29-2006, 11:07 AM I would choose Natalie over Tootie...Although she had her moments on the show, I just found Tootie to be a tad bit annoying whenever she whined. Natalie on the other hand always cracks me up whenever she tells a joke and makes "that face" with a goofy grin. The two girls though did have excellent chemistry with each other.
A.D.A. Casey Novak 11-29-2006, 11:11 AM I loved that goofy grin of Natalie's too. I loved the expresson on her face when she said, "Could that be YOUR wingding, Blair?" MC is a natural comedienne. Does anyone know what she's up to these days? And is she married, any kids?
Scoobiedoo30 11-29-2006, 11:45 AM Blair and Jo
A.D.A. Casey Novak 11-29-2006, 12:06 PM I loved Natalie's line: "I'd rather be a happy magic marker than a skinny pencil".
As funny as Jo's sarcastic one-liners were, they would not have been nearly as funny if she was saying them to anyone but Blair. They were a PERFECT foil for one another. Has anyone scene that Nickolodeon show, "Ned's Declassified"? (If you don't have kids, you probably never saw it). The girl in it, Jennifer Mosely, is so much like Jo. And it works because the fit between her and her costars is so natural and unforced. Watch the show if you can. It's pretty good. She's smart and forthright but very tough, and yet she has a lot of insecurities as well, you really can relate to her. She's the closest thing to Jo I've ever seen. The show plays down her looks just as they did with NM, but she is a very attractive girl. She has a lot of those same type of one-liners that Jo did and she delivers with a completely straight face (much the same way as NM did). I'm almost positive they modeled her after Jo.
Nighthawk76 11-29-2006, 02:20 PM Even though Tootie is my least favorite of the four girls, I still like her. I think I like Tootie best during the first season and then during the last two seasons-she had matured a lot at that point in the series.
JO jr 11-29-2006, 03:00 PM OOOOH, THERE'S GONNA BE TROUBLE! NAT HAS MY VOTE.
COURSE, ALL THE GIRLS ARE ENDEARING TO ME. BUT IF I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE TWO, THEN, NAT WINS, ALTHOUGH I HATE TO HAVE TO PICK BETWEEN MY GIRLS.
AND AS FOR TOOTIE BEING NOSEY, BOSSY, WHINEY, IMMATURE, ETC. I THINK THAT IS BECAUSE SHE WAS THE YOUNGEST, AND THUS THOSE QUALITIES MADE HER ANNOYING. DON'T MOST YOUNGER BROTHERS OR SISTERS? SHE ALWAYS TRIED TO FIT IN WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER, BUT I THINK SHE DID MATURE AS SHE GOT OLDER.
IN ANY CASE, I THINK KIM DID A GREAT JOB WITH THE SCRIPTS SHE WAS GIVEN. SOME OF HER FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AND THE WAY SHE DELIVERED ONE-LINERS WERE PERFECT, TOO.
"TOOTIE. I LIKE SAYING TOOTIE:D (THAT'S FOR YOU DAX)
I prefer Natalie. Her sarcasm and wit is more my speed. Plus I personally can relate more to Natalie. I also think Mindy is one of the most underrated comediennes out there. She has fabulous comedic timing.
Tootie has her moments though, but she is my least fave of the four main girls. But there are still plenty of great Tootie moments. I just usually appreciate her comic stuff more than her dramatic stuff.
snl 70s show fan 12-02-2006, 12:54 AM i like natalie better than tootie not that i didnt like tootie but she could be overly dramatic at times when it wasant really nessacry

HEY HOMIE-WAZ UP?
I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID:cool:
tfolfan76 12-02-2006, 02:50 PM I liked Natalie. It is always good to have a friend who can make you laugh or even smile a little even in the worst situations. Plus, I thought Nat's smile was infectious... it brightened up your day.. But what I did like about Tootie was that she always cared about how other people would be effected by life situations (even though it didn't involve her directly). Case in point, that whole thing about how she found out Eddie was married and how it would effect Jo...
Classicshowsgurl15 12-08-2006, 02:43 AM Of Natalie and Tootie? I like Natalie better of Jo and Blair I like them both.:)
Nighthawk76 12-09-2006, 12:00 AM "TOOTIE. I LIKE SAYING TOOTIE:D (THAT'S FOR YOU DAX)
 I LOVE "Seven Little Indians". I think it is the funniest episode of the entire series. "Tootie. I like saying Tootie". Infact, if that episode was remade for any reason, I would demand to play the part of Rod Serling. :)

MIKE, HAVE YOU DOWNLOADED THE EP? I HAVE THE LINK ON THE VIDEO THREAD & YOU CAN SAVE IT. I WATCHED IT AFTERWARDS, AS I DID WITH THE CHRISTMAS SHOW, AND TEACHER'S PET. HOPEFULLY, I'LL BE ABLE TO GET MORE EP'S IN THEIR ENTIRETY. DON'T GET TOO EXCITED JUST YET, BUT I'M TRYING TO GET ALL THE CHRISTMAS EP'S, FACTS GOES TO PARIS, AND OTHERS.
AND I GOT TO TELL YOU, I CRACKED UP EVEN MORE WHEN THE GUY SAID, "TOOTIE". I LIKE SAYING TOOTIE." CUZ NOW I THINK YOU MIKE:lol:

I haven't, no. I'll have to look into it though. With the security programs I have on my computer it makes downloading a major problem quite often. Also, I can't watch things on my computer because the chair is really uncomfortable and I have been having back problems. I do have "Seven Little Indians" on tape and I watch it quite a bit. I'm going to retape it when Me-TV shows it next month so I'll have a better copy of the episode.
Buffyboy323 12-11-2006, 10:46 PM Natalie Natalie Natalie!
TALLguyinKY 12-15-2006, 11:05 PM When I was a kid, my favorite was Tootie. Why? Partly because I (though I'm a guy) could relate to her, as being the "kid" of the group. I have a sister 4 years older, so I knew all about being a little brother. And I agree that being whiny, immature, and annoying is just part of being the youngest kid. It's just natural.
Now that I'm grown up, I like Natalie more (my 2nd fave), and Blair is my big favorite. I still like Tootie, but Blair's deliciously funny materialism and obsession with wealth and keeping up apperances keeps me " ". lol
Fallon97 03-08-2011, 12:31 AM I like Tootie way better. Tootie is my favorite of the girls, and Natalie is my least favorite.
Tootie since I had a crush on her back then! :D
catlover79 05-18-2011, 12:28 PM I'd go with Natalie because Tootie's whining and/or yelling could get pretty darn annoying after awhile.
queenFrostine278 05-18-2011, 09:21 PM In the first about 3 season I liked Tootie better. It bugged me the way Natalie always laughed at her own lines.
In later seasons, I like Natalie better. In all honesty, I don't think Tootie is a very good actress usually.
Natalie. Tootie was easily my least favorite of the four girls.

Well, I think Kim Fields was just playing the role as written, and I think towards the end of the show, Tootie had become more low-key. Plus I enjoyed Kim Fields' work on Living Single.
ShamelessFanGirl 07-21-2011, 03:22 PM I like Natalie better because I felt she had a lot more personality than Tootie who just came off as being whiny a lot of the time.
OldBiddy 07-21-2011, 07:53 PM I definitely go with Natalie over Tootie, especially the young Natalie. She's so cheerful and funny and adorable. When I watch the early episodes I say to myself "Who would send that child away to boarding school? If my daughter were like that, I'd want to keep her around the house." I could use a young Natalie around here sometimes.

On Facts of Life, Kim Fields was cute ... on Living Single, she was hot! ;)

I know what you mean. I love the line in the second season episode when Blair threw a tauntrum because Jo ended up going to some Spring Dance with a guy she wanted to go with and Tootie was like " How do we shut her up?" and Natalie goes "Do what they do in the movies: slap her across the face." I LOVE Natalie!
Gemini_89 02-03-2016, 01:53 AM (Natalie & Tootie) They had the best and longest friendship on the show. The show wouldn't be the same without them because they added the cute and young energy of the 4 girls.
With that said i prefer Tootie because i relate to her more...
Gemini_89 08-10-2018, 05:54 AM On Facts of Life, Kim Fields was cute ... on Living Single, she was hot! ;)
Agreed!
