I am making a set and at the end of the show they squish the credits & play an ad but then return to the credits.

I was wondering what your opinions are about either taking that chunk of ad out of the episode so it just plays the 2 parts that are the credits or to leave it so it is complete intact?

If I was to say I had a set would I have to tell the person that I was trading with that I cut the ads out or would noone ever care if a 15 second chunk was taken out of the credits?

I don't think I would complain if they weren't there, but squashed credits are better than no credits

I took out the credits for nip tuck, because FX is notorious for squishing things

I received more complaints than praise.

i have learned, to leave credits in. Commericals, not so much most peopel wont' care, but credits are a larger deal- star information, guest star, and so on.

Credits are important because they help identify an episode.

Sometimes, people mislabel titles and if there is no guide available with a detailed synopsis of each episode, the credits often help identify it.

I just wanted to make sure you all understood that the only part that was squished was about 10 seconds & it goes right back to the song, so i would just take out the 10 seconds NOT THE ENTIRE CREDITS.

But I understand what you are saying, better to leave them as is, so everyone can be happy.

I would NEVER remove any part of the closing credits. I just started getting into a set of Dennis the Menace I received quite awhile ago and was very angry to discover that whomever made the set removed the voiceovers from the closing credits (and, in turn, the freakin' cast list) for some of the episodes (they also spliced in credits from completely different episodes). To anyone who makes DVD sets: don't mess with the credits!

If you really want to get all technical, you can mute the end credits. I did that on a set once, because the end credit voiceovers were like 10x the volume of the episodes. It was terrible.

But it's a lot of work.

I just feel that the credits are part of the episode. The show is, simply, incomplete without them.

I say leave 'em in if at all possible - even if they are all squished to the side or bottom, with huge garish bugs over them and blaring voice-overs and cut-off before they finish, its better than nothing

EVERY right to be unhappy with them. I actually like to WATCH what I collect, not just accumulate DVDs...

stephanie to be honest i was NOT refering to you or your situation one bit with ninja striker--- i am sorry if u assumed it was you, since u brought it up--- the exact situation i WAS refering to was this---- i traded a guy the set of BOSTON PUBLIC that i have, the only set out there, some of the credits are cut off, the set is 8.5-9 qulaity otherwise, he totally jumped my case, and went off on me, and i had no idea they were even cut off, he went on and on and on, on another site and called me every filthy name imaginable--- sorry, but it wasnt about u

I don't think it has anything to do with whether someone watches the end credits or not - the opening credits for most series are identical (for at least each season if not the whole run of a series in some cases) but if the OPENING credits were missing from an episode, most collectors would be very upset. Why? I mean, they are all the same, and who watches the opening credits anyway?? Of course people do - and many people enjoy watching the ending ones as well (myself among them). Everyone is different and just because you think wanting end credits included is "silly" doesn't mean that wanting them included isn't justified. There are some people who want original commercials included. Is that "silly" too? People have the right to want something the way they decide to collect it.

I don't think anyone here should get into a Dynasty catfight about it, but it is the principal of wanting the entire content of something you have been desperately searching for and collecting, not receiving some disappointing partial version. And if any part of a show is missing, there should be full disclosure so the person receiving it can decide beforehand if he or she is willing to accept the series in partial condition.

In some cases when a show is extrememly rare, people would be thrilled to have the series in any condition, partial or otherwise, but when the entire content of an episode is available it should be included and the person watching it has the option of hitting the "stop button" if they don't want to look at the end credits, the opening credits or any portion in between.

Very true omenboy, I never get tired of hearing Sinatra's Love & Marriage theme on Married With Children. I'm still a bit displeased that the releases have replacement music on them, starting with S3. I hope they can fix that for future releases.

Right - and if you carefully re-read my post again you will see I was making a point regarding the value of having the ending credits. Without EITHER credits an episode is incomplete, period. And that is what I was commenting on.

I don't necessarily watch the end credits, either, but I most certainly want them to be there. They're part of the episode, plain and simple.

if i trade someone for a 20 disc set and find out that some of the end credits are not complete
im not gonna get upset or think the set is junk
b/c its not that big a deal
sometimes that is just how it works out
trading is NOT an exact science and these fan made sets are not perfect
