View Full Version : Would you ask someone who was graduated to a Home Coming Dance?
gilligan fanatic 10-09-2006, 09:18 PM I am in a predicement here. There is a new girl at my work who shares a lot of the same interests as me. We like the same music, we like to make fun of customers together, we both get along really well. The only problem is that she is older than me. I honestly don't know how old she is though. I know she is under 21 and goes to community college. Now I know she likes talking to me, she doesn't really talk to many of the other employees there, but I don't want to look like a fool by asking her to a little high school dance. She didn't even go to my school so it isn't like she is reminicing the school or anything if she went. The dance is in a few weeks, and I don't know if I should as her or not. I don't want to ruin what I have now with her. I have never seen her out of work so that might be the first step for me. Any suggestions?
James"Thunder"Early 10-09-2006, 09:40 PM I say go ahead and ask her, can't hurt to ask.
Janice 10-09-2006, 11:05 PM Definitely ask her. The two of you obviously get along, and I'm sure she'll look at it as a fun night out.
Hollow 10-09-2006, 11:21 PM you could prepare yourself by telling her a while before asking her that you're going to a homecoming dance and looking for a date....and kind of see what she says.
dawsongirl 10-09-2006, 11:35 PM Go for it. Who cares how old she is? The other guys might be jealous. Feel it out like Sarah said and see if she's responsive.
Dutabi84 10-09-2006, 11:41 PM The only "problem"? That's no problem..older chicks rock. :D Ask, the worst that could happen is she says no.
gilligan fanatic 10-10-2006, 01:31 PM thanks for the advice gang. I work with her Thursday, I'l bring it up then
MsOrange 10-10-2006, 01:35 PM maybe you could go ask her to see a movie or something this coming weekend, just to see how you guys get along outside of work
PZelda 10-10-2006, 02:09 PM I say you should go ahead and ask her to the dance. I like the advice that Sarah posted. :)
You may want to check with the administration office at your high school first, though- my high school had a policy that if you wanted to bring someone to the homecoming dance or prom that was a high school graduate but under 21, you needed to see them to get permission. If you wanted to bring a date that was over 21, it was absolutely forbidden.
Nevertheless, good luck and have fun at the homecoming dance. :)

Hmmm...I wonder if my school had that policy. I never needed to know.
dawsongirl 10-10-2006, 10:16 PM older chicks rock.
Yeah....in rocking chairs. :p
JNSBSB 10-10-2006, 11:10 PM My high school had the worst policy ever when it came to homecoming dance and other school dances. You couldn't even bring any date from another high school or not of your school at all. Plus she had to be in the same grade as you, too.
JNSBSB 10-10-2006, 11:17 PM Yeah....in rocking chairs. :p
"Older chicks rock!
Yeah.......in rocking chairs.
That sounds soooooo Ashton Kutcher-Demi Moore-ish! LOL
I had dated a girl once who was 1 day older than me(when I was 16 years old). I guess she must have been in a rocking chair, too. LOL
GARFIELDKOOL 10-11-2006, 07:42 AM Sounds like this girl really likes you when you stated that you make fun of the customers together and she mostly talks to you. I was in situations like that myself, so go for it. According to how she warms up to you, there is a good chance she will say yes. If she is under 21, and you I am assuming a senior, that's will make no difference.

The only reason I know she is under 21 is because she can't sell beer and such. I'll be 18 in December so it doesn't sound as big of a difference in age anymore. :)
Czas na Zywiec 10-11-2006, 01:37 PM That's weird. I started bartending before I turned 21, since you can serve alcohol once you turn 18. 21 is just the cutoff age for actually drinking it. I thought it was like that all over the country.

technically you can here, but the registers won't let you at our store. It is weird. Anywhere else yes, but not where I work. It is really annoying.

I was thinking you had to be 21 here to serve/sell.
Bobby F. 10-16-2006, 02:14 PM So what's the deal, gilligan?? Did you ask her out?? Enquiring minds want to know...:D
jpcanes 10-16-2006, 02:22 PM Many years ago I went to my then girlfriend's senior prom.
I was 20, she was 18.

As a matter of fact I did, and she did say she would. Were going to the football game Friday night, and out to Dinner and to the dance Saturday and maybe we'll do something Sunday. It will be a fun weekend. Lucky for us neither of us are working.

Good deal!!! So did you find out how old she is??

I'm afraid to ask that more than I was to ask her to the dance
I found out she graduated High School in 2005, so that woud make her 19 or 20. Most likely 19.
