How in the Hell was Al able to maintain a Car, and a House if his paycheck was so small with no other money coming in the house?-lol Peg wasn't bringing in any money so that's why I never understood the jokes about Al's small paycheck by his wife and kids because if it was really that small how could AL continue to put gas in the Dodge, pay bills, and the Mortage??????-LOL

Well.. the show wasnt exactly realistic, thats part of what made it original and funny.

No TV show is realistic, don't you think I know that? The question was just for fun speculation.

A paycheck could still be small and you could get by living on it. It just means that there wasn't money for the extras that they might want.

For a lower-middle class family, they were able to afford a lot of nice clothes, weren't they? :)

Could Al's late Dad have left the house to them?

Probably didn't know what direction they wanted to go in at that point of the series

I think it was more of him having what she needed to get some kind of satisfaction over how much sex appeal he had-lol

Al was well known for passing bad cheques, and Marcy would loan him money from her bank (that he never paid back).

Kelly was a waitress, when she wasn't mooching off her dates, Bud was a driving instructor and Kelly's Agent (for what?).

No...remember 555-Shoe?

He put 100G in that business and lost it all.....Went to court and had an extended 150 year mortgage..

the fun of the show is just how more pathetic his life would become..

the money they had to do this or that or why the house always seemed to be perfectly clean considering how the characters were portrayed made it just as much fun..

The show was basically a live action cartoon and it worked well for them.

TV is TV. I'd go mad wondering 'why this' and 'why that'. Its not real life.

I couldnt say it better myself. Rememer the episode(Rabbit Season)where the house explodes and then the next episode the house was back...brillant!

Im kind of sad that their wasnt more shows that took the "live animation" idea

If all shows were as cartoonish as Married With Children and My Name is Earl I'd probably watch more sitcoms.

Yeah, it was like a big cartoon! The humor about his low pay was all supposed to be sarcastic humor. People joke like that all the time in real life. Even in legendary sitcoms like I Love Lucy, Ricky was always complaining and saying "I can't afford it", even though he was a semi-celebrity singer.
